Bruce Johnson -> RE: Lynx camp (5/29/2011 9:00:51 PM)

Thank you. I appreciate that coming from you (Sweens) and also from Fargo Jim, earlier. I did have a very nice day. I took the whole weekend off from work, which is very unusual- that hasn't happened for a very long time. I did get a lot of yard work in. I bet a lot of folks are behind with the yard work due to the unseasonably cool spring.

Minnyme -> Season begins (6/3/2011 9:41:58 PM)

The Lynx at the LA Sparks game is on NBA TV tonight @ 10pm ct. Why LA is tipping off at 8pm pt is hard to figure out. Maybe expecting the Lakers to be in the final [:-]

Anyway, if you don't have NBATV, you can try the LiveAccess on the WNBA site : http://liveaccess.wnba.com/wnbala/launch.jsp?id=1021100001

Hopefully it will be working for folks tonight. Or, you can catch the game tomorrow, it will be re-broadcast locally (Sat June 4) on the local Fox Sports-North at noon.

Sundays home opener also vs. the LA Sharks tips off @2:30pm at TC. It will be broadcast (tape delayed) at 5 pm after the Twins gm.

NBATV will be broadcasting 72 WNBA games. Those games will be the feeds from whatever team is broadcasting that game locally.

I am getting great reception for the game on WNBA.Com all access.

kgdabom -> RE: Season begins (6/3/2011 10:19:35 PM)

LOL as soon as I typed that my Broadcast froze. To the very second.

kgdabom -> RE: Season begins (6/3/2011 10:56:46 PM)

Amber Harris virtually non-existent in the first half with Brunson and Taj playing great. Maya Moore looking very good so far. Lynx up by six at the half.

Haaa, now give the rookie #4 pick a little time. She was the one I expected to have some nerves this wkend going against some big time vet posts for the Sharks.

kgdabom -> RE: Season begins (6/3/2011 11:55:08 PM)

Sparks take control of the game behind a barrage of threes in the second half. Moore ties it with a three and three free throws but Sparks up four with a minute and a half to go. Looks like the Moore era begins with a loss.

David Levine -> RE: Season begins (6/4/2011 11:53:27 AM)

Just looked at the TV schedule.

11 games are on NBA TV. A 12th is on ESN2.

Welcome to the "Maya Moore effect".

SoMnFan -> RE: Season begins (6/4/2011 12:58:27 PM)

Good for Lynx, for her, for team, for fans.
We've seen it both ways around here ...
* having a superstar that attracts attention
* trying to build more of a team concept around no stars
After going thru them both (painfully) .... I'd much rather have my team take the first option.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Season begins (6/5/2011 7:36:00 PM)

Nice win today. Mona big 1st half and Maya 2nd

TJSweens -> RE: Season begins (6/6/2011 10:26:11 AM)

I think on Friday it was a simple case of forgetting to finish the game. On Sunday I thought it was pretty obvious that the Lynx were a more talented and better team than the Sparks. Moore is pretty much living up to expectations so far. Once she gets the feel of the pro game she is going to dominate the league. Augustus looks lighter, faster and stronger than any point in her career. Now that the injuries are behind her, it looks like she is determined to remind people that she is still one of the league’s best players. Whalen is settling nicely as the floor general. Wiggins and Wright look happy to make their marks on defense. We will see how they stack up against Seattle as the year goes on.

Augustus looked horrible the first game. I hope you are right but her second game stat line wasn't anything special.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Season begins (6/7/2011 7:25:12 AM)

Moore, Augustus, Whalen, Brunson, Wiggins, Wright, and Houston....That is some very solid options...

The stat line wasn't special though she lead the scoring. Watching the game she was incredibly active at both ends of the floor. She played a strong all around game IMO. Keep in mind that nobody is likely to put up dominant totals game after game. Due to the make up of the team there is going to be a lot of balanced scoring.

TJSweens -> RE: Season begins (6/8/2011 8:54:28 AM)

Moore and Augustus were both off the mark last night, but Brunson is turning into the WNBA version of Kevin Love with 17 and 15 last night. Double double in every game so far. Whalen keeps running the show and getting to the line.

David Levine -> RE: Season begins (6/8/2011 11:23:24 AM)

Yeah, very nice to see us still dominate a team with Moore and Augustus really struggling.

Yeah but the team we dominated was the SCHLOCK.

TJSweens -> RE: Season begins (6/9/2011 9:21:31 AM)

None the less they trounced the Schlock without playing anything close to their A game. Last year if Augustus scored 6 they would be on the receiving end of the trouncing.

Speaking of a trouncing. Lynx 54 Storm 24 at Seattle. Lynx may go from not making the playoffs in seven years to WNBA champs.

David Levine -> RE: Season begins (6/9/2011 10:26:29 PM)

Rebekkah Brunson playing like an MVP so far this year.

I commented about Brunson being the early season MVP on ESPN board. Lynx had a 25 point lead after three but the Storm stormed back in the fourth and came within six. Big win but not a statement game that it could have been.

Minnyme -> Big win (6/10/2011 12:30:23 AM)

True the Storm came back & may not have been at the top of their game, but the Lynx handed it to them.

I think they made a statement for 3/4s of the game. This was a good early road test in a hostile environment for the team regardless of how poorly the Storm stated the game. Seattle put up 73 shots & made 30. Lynx put up 56 & made 32. And the Lynx won the battle on the boards.

I like that the Lynx held on to win, they're 3-1 after starting the season playing their 4th gm in 7 days & the starters playing big mins tonight. They earned this victory for sure. Nice too that the 3-1 record is vs. West conf teams.

Really happy for the team, tonight. Now they don't play until next Fri @ home vs. the ATL Dream. They could use a bit of a break. Especially Brunson. She better be Western Conf Player of the Week next week [sm=bowdown.gif]

DavidAOlson -> RE: Big win (6/10/2011 3:39:36 AM)

Just wait until Maya Moore gets adjusted. Remember, she's on a rookie learning curve.

TJSweens -> RE: Big win (6/10/2011 8:54:59 AM)

Beat the defending champions and heavy preseason favorites in their own arena and you have made a statement. Granted drubbing them by 20 would have made a bigger statement.
