Can The Minnesota Lynx Be Even Better In 2012?

An outstanding breakdown of the team by Nate Parham.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/24/2012 6:46:37 PM)

Very nice. It seems that the Wolves played better last year when they had a point guard who was "distributing the ball". Isn't that what the Lakers and Celtics did in the 80's that made that time so magical? They played as a team both on offense and defense?

DavidAOlson -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/24/2012 7:20:32 PM)

I think the biggest reason the Lynx can be better is obvious: Maya Moore is not a rookie.

She was so good that people kinda forget that she was just a rookie.

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/24/2012 8:06:07 PM)

Ugly 1st half - way too many turnovers.

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/24/2012 9:02:48 PM)

Way too many turnovers and missed FTs, but Lynx picking up where they left off last year - absolute killers down the stretch.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/25/2012 9:29:40 AM)

Did I read some where that there is a Moble app to watch WNBA games?

Yes. You download the app for your iPhone/iPad/Android and you can access WNBA Live Access on it. Live Access was free last year, this year it only costs 5 bucks to subscribe to the whole season and you can stream every game on your computer or mobile device. I watched yesterday's game on my laptop and the quality was outstanding.

Yep.
They have that old "know what it takes to win" down the stretch.
Carry themselves that way.
Catch-22
Can't win without it.
Can't get it until you win consistently.  [:D]

And they're legitimately fun to watch - they play a great brand of basketball.

They share the ball - and have a bunch of great passers.
They can all score - and have an alpha scorer in Seimone.
They all really get after it on defense - and they all rebound.

SoMnFan -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/25/2012 11:28:59 AM)

Well said
And I love the dynamic they are experiencing now ... every sport is the same ... once you win, once you get a rep ... you get everyone's best effort. Every night.
And you have to be up for it. Or you will get embarassed.

I don't think you can sign up through the app, but you can do it through your iPad. Go to this site and it will redirect you to the register/pay page.

Yes indeed, but I still believe that even this year she likely is only the fourth best player on the team, which is a large part of why they are so successful. Again, I believe it is beautiful to see such a team with such outstanding players who play together as a team and for the team.

Well the most obvious reason to me the team can be better is not Maya being a year older (it is a plus though) but the rest of the youth movement, the reserves Wiggins, Wright, Adair & Harris being a year older, wiser & more comfortable in their roles. Not to mention Thorn & Peters while bringing something different to the table then Hornbuckle & Houston are upgrades. As the season goes along, our reserves hopefully will become more consistent in being able to keep pressure on other teams while giving our starters some rest.

I too think the true beauty of this team is the teamwork. They really complement each other so well. This team has probably the most solid foundation in the league with the 2 franchise players Augustus & Whalen along with Brunson & McWiliams-Franklin. They may have off nights here or there but they're consistent. When/as the other 7 players improve their consistency, hopefully in September & through the playoffs, that's when this team could truly be impossible to stop.

Sunday’s game vs. Seattle is a local FSN broadcast @ 6:00pm

Not sure who did this little video but its a fun watch : http://youtu.be/kjeeWulb_vA

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/27/2012 7:55:23 PM)

Lynx roll for the 3rd time in 4 games.

The score was only as "close" as it was because Seattle put their starters back in against our bench to end the game on a little run.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/27/2012 11:06:05 PM)

57% from 3 pt. range. Shoot. Some NBA players can't do that from the free throw line.

kgdabom -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/28/2012 10:34:10 PM)

Nice 4-0. Watch out for the Sparks. Parker is crazy good and the rookie Ogumwike is the real deal.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/29/2012 9:30:39 AM)

Happy Birthday Bruce

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/30/2012 6:53:28 PM)

Lynx with a 1st half clinic.

20 point lead.

Lynx shoot 66%, Mystics at 40%.

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/30/2012 7:24:42 PM)

Lead down to 9. Need to refocus.

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/30/2012 7:41:46 PM)

And the 24 point lead is gone. Game tied with just under 6 minutes to go.

Complete meltdown.

David Levine -> RE: Lynx stuff (5/30/2012 8:01:37 PM)

Lynx escape with the win.

Not at all a good win, and a horrific 2nd half.

But we're 5-0.
