The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has waived guard Queralt Casas and forward Julie Wojta. The moves finalized the team’s roster for Sunday’s Home Opener http://www.wnba.com/lynx/news/news_roster_2012_05_16.html Bummer. I was hoping Wojita would make the team. WOuldn't surprise me if Wojita ends up playing a lot of minutes for one of our competitors this season. Possible, but unlikely. With the season already starting, rosters set and Wojta still transitioning to a new position, it'll probably be next year before she catches on in training camp. http://www.htrnews.com/article/20120518/MAN02/205180458/Women-s-pro-basketball-Wojta-signed-by-European-club?odyssey=nav%7Chead GREEN BAY — Though Mishicot graduate and former UW-Green Bay women's basketball All-American Julie Wojta will not be donning a Minnesota Lynx uniform during regular season play, the 18th overall draft pick has inked a contract with Eurocup team Dexia Namur Capitale in Belgium. The 6-foot forward was waived by the Lynx after competing for a roster spot during its two-week training camp which included two preseason games. "I knew I was walking into an extremely tough situation as far as making the roster but I'm still very competitive and wanted to make the most of it. I'm so thankful to have the experience attending the Lynx training camp. I loved the experience and can take a lot away from it," Wojta said. "Coach Reeve was very complimentary and told me she wishes she had a spot for me but it's tough with only 11 roster spots. She told me I belong in this league eventually, so that was encouraging to hear." Wojta is expected to clear waivers in the 48-hour timeframe, making her an unrestricted free agent with the opportunity to sign with another WNBA franchise. However, with the regular season tipping off Sunday, there is a very small chance and window of opportunity for Wojta to join another WNBA team. "I'll certainly talk with other teams but the chances of her going elsewhere are slim," said Wojta's agent Eric Wiesel.
