@MarkRemme
#LosLynx set @wnba finals record with 56.9 percent shooting tonight in 88-63 win.

Now if any of this can rub off on the Wolves. Man the Lynx are amazing.

It's very exciting.

TJSweens -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/9/2013 10:05:36 AM)

It's great when the Lynx basically executed Atlanta to death and then grouse after the game that their execution was lacking. The other thing is that the roles have reversed for the Lynx this year. Last year the Fever took advantage of the swallowed whistle affect and basically mugged their way to a finals win over the Lynx while the Lynx complained about it. The Lynx learned their lesson.

Angel McCoughtry: “I’m very frustrated,” said McCoughtry, 11-for-42 shooting in two finals games. “I don’t feel like I played in a basketball game. I feel I was in a football match. … I don’t need to be grabbed and pushed to the ground. My elbow is aching right now. I shouldn’t feel like that. I should feel like I played some basketball.”

Simone Augustus in response: “Then don’t play in the WNBA Finals.”

I remember Cheryl Reeve on the radio before the playoffs lamenting that it's too bad that the WNBA gets on its biggest stage with its biggest audience all year and it winds up being the ugliest basketball played all year because the officials let everything go. With that said she went on that it was on the Lynx last year because the resorted to complaining and whining and didn't adjust their game to what Indiana's thug style of play. They have obviously decided that will not happen again.

I've never seen a star player intentionally foul themselves out of a game before last night. But that's exactly what Angel did with 4 minutes left.

TJSweens -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/9/2013 1:04:47 PM)

And gave Whalen a pretty hard shot to the nose in the process.

It's a twist on Marty's "allow themselves to be injured" theory.

Total hypocrite:

Remember when Robert Griffin III went on that passionate rant about how the Louisville women’s basketball team was overly physical during its Elite Eight victory over Baylor on Sunday night?

Well, his outrage made national news, from USA Today to ESPN.com to Shutdown Corner to Huffington Post and beyond. And that means that the women’s college basketball community is well aware of what Griffin was saying about Louisville — “for every 3 they made, they threw 6 elbows, 5 straight lefts, 4 right hooks,” for example.

And that means it was just a matter of time until someone responded. “Someone” in this case being former Louisville star Angel McCoughtry, the first female athlete in school history to have her jersey retired, the second-leading scorer for the U.S. gold-medal winning Olympic team in London, and a WNBA all-star who holds that league’s playoffs scoring record.

And she wasn’t messing around.

Angel McCoughtry ✔ @angel_35
I wish people would give my louisville girls there respect 4 winning. Keep playing physical! Thats the sport! #welldeserved. I got ya backs

Angel McCoughtry ✔ @angel_35
When womens basketball gets tuff and physical people complain about it! You guys want us to play soft?

Angel McCoughtry ✔ @angel_35
The men play physical no complaints. When the women go to the next level its a problem. Congrats again to my cardinal

Angel McCoughtry ✔ @angel_35
I would scratch, bit and claw my way to a national championship. And if you have heart for the game u would too @RGIII

Angel McCoughtry ✔ @angel_35
The harder the better. Blood sweat and tears @RGIII . U play me one on one ill elbow u too. Bow up baby!

larryboy -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/9/2013 11:17:41 PM)

Hypocrite is right. After game one, McCoughtry noted that Indiana had beaten the Lynx last year by being more physical and said that Atlanta needed to do that, then she complains when the Lynx respond by being more physical. Well duh.

i identify with Reeve's comment about letting calls go. While I don't like to see that, I think teams need to recognize and adjust to the calls being made or not made. That ts the thing that always floors me in football playoffs, where one team is mugging the other and no calls. Well, do the same thing! Make the officials call/not call it both ways.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 7:45:21 PM)

Lynx up 11-3 on the road in the WNBA finals. Looks like another title and a sweep of the entire playoffs. How many times has that been done in WNBA history? The only problem with this is the games are too easy and lack the excitement of any doubt about who will win.

2 point game...

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 8:30:21 PM)

3 point game at the half.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 8:31:59 PM)

I was getting a little too cocky. Lynx only up three at halftime. Come on ladies. Close this one out.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 8:37:05 PM)

I think the Lynx will turn it on at the end. The Dream win and they only prolong the agony, so they are probably just playing for pride. Sometimes that works. Probably not this time.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 8:55:57 PM)

Fantastic play by McCarville!

McCarville with a sports center highlight. Steals the ball driving to the basket and drop pass to Brunson for the basket.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:06:02 PM)

Lynx by 13 now. McCarville and Brunson taking over.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:11:51 PM)

@WNBA
#MilestoneAlert: Rebekkah Brunson has passed Taj McWilliams-Franklin for most rebounds in #WNBAFinals history with 125 boards

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:14:28 PM)

Hayes for Atlanta going off keeping the dream within some hope. Two of those threes were from way behind the line.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:15:51 PM)

Ten point lead entering the fourth Quarter. This should really be over. No blowing a ten point lead in one quarter.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:23:51 PM)

Hayes with another three. Bench player has 18 and counting. So who is going to be the finals MVP. Augustus has a shot but not doing much today. Moore leading scorer in the closeout game. Brunson Beasting. Whalen doing her usual. It will be interesting.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:27:24 PM)

Angel is just going through the motions.

She may score a lot of points in the regular season, but she's not a superstar.

Last time the Lynx played the Dream in the finals I thought McCoughtry was pretty spectacular. Also she got her team to the finals so I don't think that is a fair assessment.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/10/2013 9:35:37 PM)

Wright taking it to the hoop keeping the double digit lead for the Lynx. Back to who will be the MVP. Seriously when was the last time there was a finals in any sport that any of four players could be the finals MVP. Shows what a TEAM the Lynx have.

Super talented, but too much Allen Iverson for me. Gunner and a headcase. Fever have often been better this series with her on the bench.

I think Moore gets it. Brunson will get docked for her 4 points in game 1.
