Here is a former NFL QB (Chase Daniel) that doesn't agree with our assessment that Love is an untalented QB:

https://youtu.be/Inhr_Je3isY?si=F5NKPnLdgkizjq9a

We'll see what this guy says after the Cowboys smoke the Packers on Sunday.

marty -> RE: Other NFL News (1/13/2024 1:46:08 AM)

But looking at the video by Daniels, it makes it look like the Vikings are playing checkers on offense, while the Packers are playing chess.

I look forward to the day the Vikings have a QB that can make throws like that after a play breaks down.

marty -> RE: Other NFL News (1/14/2024 6:23:37 PM)

Unfortunately, I was right about Love being talented but inexperienced.

Hatred of the Packers, and the rush to add Love to my list of David Boston-like mistakes, led to some poor judgement by some posters here.

I hate the Packers too, but can't deny that Love is a talented QB.

marty -> RE: Other NFL News (2/4/2024 10:32:05 AM)

Sean Mannion gas been hired by the Packers as some sort of QB assistant.

Hopefully he can lead Love to the direction of awful QB play. [&:]

Any thoughts on Zimmer getting hired as DC for the Cowboys ?

Some former Cowboy was saying it is a good hire, and a defense that can take away big plays, and slow the other team down will help the Cowboys in the playoffs.

My impression was Zimmer's defenses were sometimes good in the regular season, but not very effective in the playoffs for Cincinnati or Minnesota.

NFL banning hip drop tackles. Players don't want it banned.

So, a 200lb DB is chasing down a 260lb TE from behind. Is he just supposed to push him real hard and hope he falls down?

It's a ridiculous ban. Players can't use leverage to make a tackle?????????

Might as well just draft all offense.

Diggs to Houston. Good deal for Houston. They can compete for title in the next 2-3 years. Stroud on rookie contract and Diggs usually doesn't wear out his welcome till year 3 or 4.

Todd M -> RE: Other NFL News (4/3/2024 11:02:01 AM)

Might just have to take Houston as my AFC team.

Todd M -> RE: Other NFL News (4/3/2024 11:04:03 AM)

Not great compensation for Buffalo.

I don't know. High 2nd rounder.

Big contract and he is 31 now.

And I'm sure behind the scenes it isn't the greatest.

IDK..they’re eating 30 million in dead cap aren’t they. It’s a discounted high 2nd to me.

Reading up on it, the Bills could have waited till next year and had no dead cap.

But, the team made a run late in season when it quit trying to force ball to him and Allen starting running more.

I do think Demeco Ryans can get the best out of him.

Diggs is still extremely good. IMO great deal for the Texans.

Diggs and Hunter adding to what the Texans had, wow !!!

They should be a fun team to watch, anything less than getting to the 2nd week of the playoffs will be a disappointment for them.

Adding what? Large salaries?

Diggs is a diva and Hunter is always hurt. As I see it, they took on a lot of baggage.

Hunter had a major neck injury that cost him 1.5 years.

He never missed a game before or after.

And he's coming off the best year of his career. Career highs in Sacks, Forced Fumbles, Tackles (Both Solo and Ast), QB Hits and he led the NFL in Tackles for Loss.

He's had 108 tackles-for-loss in 119 games. In other words, he makes less than one (potentially) impactful play a game. Lets not conflate his production. He's never been one of the top rush-ends in the eight years he has been in the league. Tons of potential. Nobody argues that.

You can play that "game" with any NFL player.

Its a dishonest argument.

It's not dishonest at all. Hunter has always showed potential, but has never been considered one of the best at his position. Now he's nearly 30 years-old.

Two years, $49-million (guaranteed)? Give me a break.

Of course he has. He pressures the QB with the best of them and he's better than most pass rushers at playing the run. The only weakness in his game is dropping into coverage.

But to simplfy him to "his TFLs are his only impact plays" is like taking your favorite CB and comparing PDs and INTs to game's played.

Myles Garrett
Micah Parsons
Nick Bosa
Jermaine Johnson
TJ Watt
Max Crosby
Trey Hendrickson

I could name another five on top of that I'd rather have.

Admittedly, I don't think much of defensive ends. Without good corners they are irrelevant.

You stated that Hunter has NEVER been considered one of the best at his position. You named a bunch of pretty good to great Defensive ends. A lot of them came along after Hunter was already considered one of the best at his position. That doesn't change the FACT that Hunter has been considered one of the best defensive ends. You know what you said isn't true. You know that Hunter has been considered one of the best at his position and that is why I'm declaring what you said as a lie.
