I get the feeling that the players are motivated this off-season because they know the Vikings have a chance to be really special and they want to be part of it.

Could have said the same thing last year. The difference is the offensive line won't be as abysmal, we hope. And the offensive philosophy may fit Cousins' skill set better.

There were a number of players that had down years last year. Griffen, Rhodes, and Kendricks come to mind. Those are really good players who are key to our team who were disappointing. I do believe that success is largely pre-determined. Would you add anyone else to the list? Perhaps Linval Joseph.

Last offseason, we had fat entitled expectations from a 13-3 season and spending bazillions in FA (and on our own).

This offseason is leaner and hungrier.

Not sure how that would be different from last season.

I think I agree.

Must have been a huge disappointment not winning the NCCG and knowing that the pieces at the time of last year's TC were at the very least arguable better than what we went into the NFCCG with hense wouldn't the motivation be sky high for last year's season - the top of the mountain is close, if we just put in a little more effort ...

Wow, that dude hosting the podcast is a babbling idiot.

Watched the one about "Hunter left vs rt side" figuring he would give some data out regarding sack % from each side. Nothing.

Yes, indeed. I've watched more baseball in the past month than I have in the past five years. (Maybe two or three hours.) [;)]

When TE Irv Smith Jr. was drafted by the #Vikings in April, his father Irv Sr., immediately reached out to Kyle Rudolph and asked him to look after his son. Smith Sr. had gotten to know Rudolph since he had been a Notre Dame TE before Rudolph played there.

Stephen Weatherly has made $1,328,820 in career salary to date and is slated to make $720,000 in 2019. If the #Vikings longterm offer comes in the ballpark of $8M-10M GTD, it'd be super tempting.

Not much here that we didn't already know here, but it's cool to go national.

Friend or not, this seems like it would put Rudolph in a really awkward position.

When things get awkward that's the time to be classy. Then the awkwardness can go away. I mean, it was already awkward that the Vikings drafted Smith, but it would have been even worse if they used a first rounder on Noah Fant, or traded down in the first round to select Irv Smith, Jr.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/9/2019 11:58:07 PM)

43 on offense and 43 on defense. 4 on special teams. You know, some of these players are not on my radar. I mean, who the heck is Karter Schult?

I looked him up and he's one of the players we signed from the defunct professional football league. I look forward to becoming more familiar with the players soon.

i'd extend weatherly to the tune of $12m/4yrs - $6m signing bonus - but only if we're planning on letting griffen go next season...otherwise i'd draft a de with one of our 3rd rounders next draft...if we wait too long to extend weatherly his price is going up....

harris is another player that we normally should extend, but we gave away so many big contracts that we can't afford him...we'll have to draft a safety in the 2nd/3rd round next year....

plus, i think we should extend waynes and lower his cap hit if we're going to let rhodes go in two years....

2020 draft:

ot
te/s
s/te
cb
te

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/10/2019 8:57:41 AM)

We need to stop spending so much on D. It's no secret that our OLine was one of the worst in the league and we were 29th in spending. Lets even this out a bit. Good for Weatherly but he and Harris are a dime a dozen in this league.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (6/10/2019 9:47:28 AM)

Perhaps the Vikings are looking for a better holder for the place kicker.
