ORIGINAL: Brad H I've been saying about 5-7 things for a decade+. 1) Draft corners 2) Build the offensive line every year 3) Quit drafting diva positions when you have holes up front 4) Draft a legit quarterback 5) Don't reach in free agency 6) Get a young, offensive-minded coach 7) Get a legit tight end that can run after the catch (it's 2018, not 1820) It doesn't seem that hard, folks. Yet, our guy manages to fu$k it up every year. Spiels is basically following your plan. 1) Drafted Hughes and Waynes in the 1st round, Mac in the 2nd. Even found a possible gem in Hill. 2) Added OLine in the draft O'Neil, Elf, picked up Reiff and Remmers via FA. Unfortunate they're all underperforming, no surprise from Remmers he was always terrible. 6 years later the Kalil pick is still haunting us IMO. 3) Cook and Treadwell were basically the only diva positions that were drafted high. Cook is a star, even Gurley couldn't run behind this kind of line, actually look at Gurley's 2016 season for proof. 4) They drafted Teddy, the turf monster took that one away. I would have liked to take a chance on Lamar Jackson, think he will be a better passer than people think. 5) Most FAs are basically reaches unless they're depth players. 6) Brought in Flip bright young offensive mind. I assume your talking about HC, tough to do after an 11-5 or 13-3 season. Even Shurmur who is in a tough spot in NY with Eli is doing a decent job. 7) No arguments there.... Can you people quit saying that Dalvin Cook is a star? He's not a star, folks. He's a guy. And yes, our corners are among the best in the league........when healthy. Rhodes and Hughes are bright spots in the Spielmen drafts. Waynes is a total bust, IMO. I should say he has star ability. Injuries have been a concern, but you don't lead the league in rushing for the first month of a rookie season if you're not. He passes the eye test, very shifty in tight spaces, has deceptive power. I just question his patience as a runner, because Murr seems to find those cut backs more often. He's an average NFL running back, at-best. He's not powerful. He's not patient. He's not a particularly good receiver. Not a great blocker. Star running backs make people miss, or if all else fails, run over them. He does neither. If you can't see him do that then I don't know what to tell you. He's got four rushing touchdowns in 15 games (2 receiving). He isn't making many people miss. Even in the open field he looks pedestrian. Just when you think he's gone, he manages to find a defender to run into. Darren McFadden was the same way. No vision whatsoever. He's a marginal running back. Saquan Barkley has one of the worst offensive lines on the planet. He had 15 total touchdowns in his first season. That's a star!
