Two Chiefs CB are hurting. Maybe we can exploit that with more 3 receiver sets.

Hey, I hope he plays and comes out of it in great shape - but we ain't dealing with a sprained ankle here

This quote doesn't make me feel too optimistic: “In this league, it’s all about being close to 100 percent on game day,” Thielen added. “Luckily, I’ve got three more days to get to that point.” He's not there and not being "there" means he can easily damage it some more.

- of course I wasn't dealing with the care he's getting, either

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/1/2019 12:01:05 AM)

This is all on Zimmer and the D. If we come out passive and "waiting" on D, we are screwed. We've seen this record spin. How will this turn spin?

Seriously, if we come out passive on D, we are done. It's been a pattern that needs to stop.

I believe we could say the same about the offense, Raiders, Philly, NY Giants, Atlanta, Detroit we came flying out of the locker room, and pretty much never looked back.

The D has played quite a bit of prevent in those games, but I agree Jeff, I’d like to see a flat out smothering performance by Zims D.

Tough squad to smother (the Chiefs)

The $888K are Doctson at $464K and Beebe at $424K. By contrast, New England has 13 players on the reserve/injured list.

So don't smother.

Keep them off the field. Run run run run, control the clock. Bludgeon their defense all day long and don't give their offense many chances. Bend, don't break. Make them settle for FGs instead of TDs.

I'm not sure I would call it a pattern. I would say that when it happens, we dig ourselves a hole.

I was just comparing the combine results for Rhodes and Hughes. Rhodes had faster straight line speed. Of course that was longer ago than for Hughes and my not be the case now. Regardless, Hughes had much better short shuttle and 3 cone scores.

I was interested in comparing because it looks like KC has really fast receivers and they lead the league "by a large margin" in yards after the catch. (YAC) I don't know if they are quick, as well. Probably. It's a tough match up for any defense. They have a really good tight end, too. The Vikings had a little extra time to prepare for this one and they probably needed it. I honestly have no clue as to what the Vikings should do. They probably will stay in nickel for most of the game. It's critical that our guys make their tackles. Because Green Bay already just beat them in KC, it feels like a must win. It may be a disappointment. I mean KC has lost three games in a row so they are beatable, but you figure that they won't lose all their games. Will they lose four in a row?

The wide receiver screens that KC loves to run, need to be a top priority. This is a very winnable game whether Mahomes plays or not. Our offense should be able to exploit their LB's and secondary. The puke sure did.

I think our back 7 are all good/sure tacklers, Wayne's is especially good at blowing up those plays ala 'Toine, so there is that.

Pager -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/1/2019 12:41:43 PM)

Get off block and tackle well would be a pretty good recipe for taking down KC

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/2/2019 8:09:49 AM)

It's quiet here. I'm sorry that I have nothing to contribute other to say that I really like a competitive college game, especially when the students themselves are really into the game. It brings me memories of when I played with the U of M band. Beautiful time in my life.

Here are my thoughts on Beebe:

I never heard a negative word about Beebe until that preseason game where he was singled out for making errors by someone on social media. Since that time I have heard nothing but shoutings from the mountain tops about how bad he is ... feels like a lot of piling on

Maybe I got it wrong - but that's my perception

Exactly. It was a sudden 180.

KC's receivers are very quick. Rhodes will be embarrassed.

Nothing like a good winning streak to fire up the base.

How will the Vikings adjust to all of the speed and quickness of the Chiefs playmakers?

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/3/2019 7:04:15 AM)

Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes, listed as questionable due to his knee injury, is expected to miss his second straight game Sunday, per source. Chiefs’ QB Matt Moore will start vs. the Vikings.

Lotsa quick, speedy guys in KC.

In the past Rhodes would be locked onto Sammie Watkins, now I don’t know what the hell we’re gonna see out of Xavier.

BTW is it a coincidence he started getting toasted on a regular basis when he insisted on people calling him- “X-avier” instead of pronounced “Z-avier”?

I think we should employ bump n run coverage. KC's wr's are small so disrupting their routes with a S over the top would be a possible strategy. Being they have a couple backups playing on the oline our pressure could be the difference.
