PFF loves Jayron Kearse. Gives him an 89.9 rating.

Deserving IMO. Zim needs to get him on the field way more. Haven't seen much of the big nickel this year.

Kearse really gives TE's fits.

Especially considering how often we have Mac or a LBer chasing a TE.

I'd have him on the field much more often than the 3rd LB (Gedeon or Wilson).

Absolutely. Kearse fits seamlessly into so many roles on that defense. He should be out there for the majority of the defensive snaps.

Here's a comment on the subject from twitter (Deshawn Vaughan)

The last time he played extended time he got torched, he should definitely play more but in spurts

110 of the Broncos’ 217 1st half yards came on these 3 plays. All contested catch failures. Two of these are just insane catch wins with a LOT of luck involved. Not much you can do about that. The DPI is an issue Rhodes has had all season. But CBs in good spots on all of these.

Luke Braun on Twitter. (I didn't include the video of the three plays because who wants to see that?)

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/19/2019 3:02:31 PM)

Danielle Hunter leads the NFL currently with 71 total pressures.

Dee Ford led all edge rushers last year with 78.

Hunter is on pace for 100+ over the season, which would be only the 3rd player to achieve that since 2006 (Tamba Hall 2010, Von Miller 2015)

I disagree with his hypothesis.

The only way he's going to continue to improve is with more reps and in more situations. You do him a disservice by only playing him in choice spots where you already know he'll excel.

Look at this Denver game as a perfect example. If It wasn't for injuries to Smith and Harris, Kearse wouldn't have been in to make those big plays at the end. But he was forced into an a less comfortable position and he thrived.

He has size, ability and talent. Throw him in the deep end and see if he can swim.

Hunter/Griffin should be dominating.

If they could somehow shore up coverage... with a potent offense... this team would be deadly.

We also need consistent push up the middle. Our ends are dominating, but it's too easy for the QB to step up and avoid the sack.

IMO the biggest reason our sack conversion rate is so low.

Kendricks underperforming? I don't think so.

Good stuff beo.
I can also see the point of "our luck" …. where we assume it's offsides on the D, and oh geeee, its not.
With the officiating level at "ridiculous" lately, I guess I can totally understand the hesitation.
If you're Rogers, and you're family, then by all means, you know they'll bail you out, even if it's wrong. [:D]

HA! That's an even better point...

Rodgers figures his outcomes are:
- offsides defense
- PI defense
- roughing the passer defense

And yet … he said the other day the refs still owe him a couple. [X(]
God help us all, if the favoritism actually gets worse.

I gotta give Rodgers mad props for his comment that they're owed. It excites his fan base who truly believe this AND is a little wink wink to the league and refs. Brilliant.

It also fills me with nausea and vomitus.

You make a good point. Who are we lining up in the middle for passing downs? Clearly we have had issues getting off the field on defense.

Gary Kubiak compared the toughness of Dalvin Cook to that of former RB’s he’s coached including Terrell Davis, Arian Foster, and Clinton Portis.

“Dalvin’s not the biggest guy in the world but when he runs, he runs angry... Those guys have an edge and Dalvin has it.”

If only there were some type of blitz that goes up the A gap... Naw - that probably doesn’t exist.

I'm sure some defensive expert could design a blitz to accomplish it?

I think we only blitzed Dak 13% of the time. If I have the energy - I'm going to try and look up blitz %.

Captain obvious: I think Zim is not blitzing to protect his corners, where blitzing would force the QB to throw quicker - which would protect his corners.

Exactly this 100 percent, we need more pressure in middle!

This was a screen shot of the 4th and 6th from the 45 with 3:27 left.

Both Hunter and Griff create "pressure" with Griff within inches. Allen has a ton of room to step up and complete the crosser. Any kind of collapse of the middle and Hunter/Griff end this game.

The sad part of this post? How long it took for me to create and post a tiny screen shot!

Sure like to see Barr blitz more often.

Seems like were not utilizing this skill set he has often enough.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/20/2019 12:59:17 PM)

I heard that the Vikings were planning to attend Kaepernick's workout. He changed the location, and a bunch of teams, including the Vikings (via KFAN), decided not to go. ATL is spread out, so the change in location was significant given the late timing. Not sure what his advisers were thinking.
