Kendricks snubbed.

Sam Ekstrom@SamEkstrom
Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter and Dalvin Cook have been named to the Pro Bowl. #Vikings

I know that the pro bowl is just a popularity contest, but for Kendricks not to make the team shows that people are not paying attention. He's probably our best or second best player on defense.

It's not surprising that Cousins didn't make it, a big chunk of it is fan voting, and it appears that for a big chunk of Vikings fans, even with Cousins playing at an all-pro level, they are currently only "tolerating" him as our QB. Probably because their previous ripping on him makes them look SO stupid, they are still holding out hope that he will crash and burn (for them the team crashing and burning will suffice), giving them the chance to claim they were right the whole time.

Cousins play certainly warrants the Pro Bowl. Kendricks as well.

Absolutely.

On Cousins current hot streak (too lazy to look up, 8-9 games?) he has 3 picks and two bounced off Diggs!

Phenomenal.

Kendricks has been everywhere. Stud.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/18/2019 3:49:09 PM)

Solve this problem and win the game. It's that simple.

As I’ve been saying every week for half this season, you’ve got to pick specific spots to start Aaron Rodgers. He’s been a massive fantasy producer in a handful of games. But the majority of his starts have been dreadful. Particularly lately. Over Rodgers last six games, he’s had one blow-up game, against New York. n his other five games, he’s daggered his fantasy owner by averaging 179 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. So, which version will we get this week? Quite possibly the heroic one. The Vikings secondary is baaaad. Xavier Rhodes is injured and terrible. His replacement, Mike Hughes, is somehow worse. The three Vikings outside cornerbacks have a PFF rank of CB72, CB83, and CB111. Davante Adams has a terrific matchup on both sides of the field. Good quarterbacks have fared well against Minnesota. Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Carson Wentz, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson averaged 303 yards and 2.5 touchdowns. -Paul Charchian

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/18/2019 8:05:50 PM)

Linval Joseph on #Vikings D-line: "The great teams that make it to the playoffs & win the Super Bowl have a great rotation. And the last couple years with the Vikings we really never really had that and this is the first year I can say we have a great rotation to keep guys fresh"

(Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

I do believe Joseph will have to accept a pay cut next year or be released. The "backups" are good enough to start and are much more affordable. It is good to have depth, though, and I have been advocating for awhile now for more rotations along the defensive line.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/18/2019 8:08:26 PM)

I see Dan Bailey has been named the special teams player of the week for the third time. He did make some field goals, but he missed another extra point. I guess it's better to make the three pointers. Still, I'm wondering if the guys who run down the field and have to tackle the punt returner should be getting more consideration for the award.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/18/2019 8:36:04 PM)

I guess because it's a Monday Night game we have to wait until tomorrow to get the week's first injury report.

Kind of weird, all the FGs were pretty much chip shots.

This needs to be repeated and spread as much as possible. Knock it off NFL! Oh, and smug packer fans? Stick it up your world championship butt. Entitlement Town.

I'm so sick and tired of you negative, so-called Viking fans.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/19/2019 1:11:49 AM)

And Pager, the article is really just scratching the surface, as GB gets the benefit of their OL holding on many plays early in games, and more especially on crucial plays late in games.

And the Packer defense also continues to benefit in the same way with their defensive 2ndary with contact and PI not called.

I find it amusing and funny.

I am glad the Vikings don't get favoritism from the refs. Should the Vikes ever win a SB, it will likely be on their own merit.

All pro is the real honor.

It won't be the first time that a player named 1st team all pro is a pro bowl snub.

kgdabom -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/19/2019 9:35:00 AM)

This really sucks.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is unlikely to suit up in Week 16 against the Packers.

Alexander Mattison (ankle) is also at high risk of missing this crucial NFC North showdown. That leaves the Vikings with Mike Boone to take the majority of the backfield's early-down work, while Ameer Abdullah will likely get most of his snaps on passing downs. Boone is easily the preferred fantasy option, as he could see upwards of 20 touches as the theoretical focal point of this run-first offense. Treat him as an upside RB2 in this plus spot.

That does suck. I'm really OK with one of Cook or Mattison with Boone as the fill in, but to go in with only Boone and Abdullah is not good.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Mike Zimmer said that if the Rams lose on Saturday and the #Vikings already have clinched a playoff berth entering Monday's game against Green Bay, that would have no impact on whether Dalvin Cook might play against the Packers.

Ben Goessling@GoesslingStrib
Mike Zimmer, sounding like he's about to duel Aaron Rodgers at 20 paces in the Old West:

"I think one of us needs to get out of the division -- him or me. I don't care which one."

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Alexander Mattison (ankle) is "doing better.'' Says on Mike Boone, "Hopefully, we don't need him'' Monday.

Sean Borman@SeanBormanNFL
According to http://NFLpenalties.com, the Green Bay Packers have been penalized for defensive pass interference twice (2X) this season for 20 yards. That’s the fewest number of calls and yards in the league.

Their opponents, however, have been called 13 times for 217 yards.

We do have to remember, tho … that the Packers are more talented, disciplined, and they play a cleaner brand of football than everyone else, so the numbers WILL be skewed that way.

I agree that's what he meant, but the way it came across was more like "I sure hope we don't have to play Boone" which would be kind of a dis. No big whoop.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/19/2019 3:56:29 PM)

If the Rams lose we are in the playoffs, but don't have much to play for the last two weeks. If the Rams win then we have a shot at the fifth seed, but we have to win a game to make the playoffs.

I'm going to go for the Rams to win. I don't care for any of this backing into the playoffs anyway. The team has to be playing it's best football now.

We're going to win two, but the pukers will win one. We will be on the road for as long as we remain in the playoffs. Hopefully we get the Iggles or Cowpukes first round.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/20/2019 5:38:00 PM)

Brian O'Neill has now gone over 1,000 consecutive pass blocking snaps without giving up a sack, per PFF.

That doesn't just break PFF's record for longest sackless streak to start a career—it breaks PFF's record for longest sackless streak by any OT, at any point in their career.

(Nick Olson on Twitter)

But not good enough to make the Pro Bowl, I guess.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/20/2019 5:46:33 PM)

Injury report is saying good except at running back. I do believe we will be fine with our backups, though.
