Vikings are taking a knee on Sunday because outcome will not change their seeding...

But here are the outcomes that will from Sunday games...

Eight scenarios, along with how the seeding would fall as a result...

Green Bay wins, New Orleans wins, San Francisco wins
#1 - San Francisco, #2 - Green Bay, #3 - New Orleans, #5 - Seattle (Vikings at New Orleans)

Green Bay wins, New Orleans wins, Seattle wins
#1 - Green Bay, #2 - New Orleans, #3 - Seattle, #5 - San Francisco (Vikings at Seattle)

Green Bay wins, Carolina wins, San Francisco wins
#1 - San Francisco, #2 - Green Bay, #3 - New Orleans, #5 - Seattle (Vikings at New Orleans)

Green Bay wins, Carolina wins, Seattle wins
#1 - Green Bay, #2 - New Orleans, #3 - Seattle, #5 - San Francisco (Vikings at Seattle)

Detroit wins, New Orleans wins, San Francisco wins
#1 - San Francisco, #2 - New Orleans, #3 - Green Bay, #5 - Seattle (Vikings at Green Bay)

Detroit wins, New Orleans wins, Seattle wins
#1 - New Orleans, #2 - Seattle, #3 - Green Bay, #5 - San Francisco (Vikings at Green Bay)

Detroit wins, Carolina wins, San Francisco wins
#1 - San Francisco, #2 - Green Bay, #3 - New Orleans, #5 - Seattle (Vikings at New Orleans)

Detroit wins, Carolina wins, Seattle wins
#1 - Seattle, #2 - Green Bay, #3 - New Orleans, #5 - San Francisco (Vikings at New Orleans)

Of the eight potential scenarios, four of them send the Vikings to New Orleans, while two send them to Seattle and two to Green Bay.

Bet your house on the Vikings losing to whoever the play in round one. As certain as a Twins playoff loss. You could also bet your 401k, your cars, personal property, and your inheritance if you have one.

Do we hope drew Samia looks good or not? If he looks good then hooray for the team but then why hasn’t he been playing? If he looks bad then bad for the team and yet another whiff on offensive lineman. How conflicting!

I think Samia has exclusively played RG in college and in OTAs/Preseason games. Are you thinking for LG? For RG - Kline has been steady and above average. Dozier - I thought has done a decent job spot-starting.

If he looks bad vs the Bears - I still think it's too early and too small a sample size to say whiff.

Pager -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 12:09:34 AM)

Put nothing past Jerry Jones - even a trade if someone he likes (such as Minnesota's Mike Zimmer) becomes available. [:-]

No Hicks or Goldman today so it won't be a true test anyway.

Kind of a weird spot all around. Are we set, and confident to go play a good team on the road in the playoffs? Is Thielen healthy or rusty? How do you decide which starters play?

And, as you said, what's the take away if somebody plays well?

The only thing I know for certain, if Mannion plays mediocre, he more than likely locks down his spot for next season. That's how we do it. No desire to develop a young QB. Just hope your starter is great, and his back up is a veteran, doesn't matter how awful.

Would be encouraging if we ever showed signs that we are interested in winning, AND willing to develop young players, especially QB's and WR's.

Not a big fan of losing on your way to the playoffs. Sets a horrible tone, unless you are a great team. So..... I hope we win this one, regardless of who plays. I think it's important.

I think we need to go all out for the win. Thielen needs the reps.

Only guys you sit are Kendricks, Cook and anyone with a legitimate injury.

Correct. The way they played last week especially on offense was an embarrassment. You shouldn't reward that nonsense with a week off.

It does seem like betting the Vikings opponent to win the game outright is the definition of free money. My guess is the money line will he massively weighted to deter it.

Inactives

Cook
Kendricks
Barr
Mattison
Reiff
O'Neill
Stephen

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 11:09:25 AM)

Saw some OL stats on ESPN. Curious as to how they continue rebuilding the OL. Bradbury was a good pick (at the time). Kline and Dozier were small upgrades. Elf to G was hope at best. Reiff was average and now may be slipping. Hoping/half expecting Bradbury will improve significantly. O'Neal is the mainstay.

I can see us beating Seattle. They're banged up, and they'll be playing a real tough game tonight. The Saints will be another story. Though we did dominate the Saints last season until Thielen's fumble right before half.

CPAMAN -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 11:25:49 AM)

I brother-in-law has had season tickets on the 40 yard line about twenty rows back since they opened US Bank Stadium. He attends probably five or six of the regular season home games and one of the two home exhibition games. He sells his tickets on Stub-Hub or Ebay for usually his cost in the tickets upwards of $50 profit per ticket, especially for the regular season games. For this game, he cannot give the tickets away. Thus far, he has zero bids on his two tickets. That tells you something of the decreasing interest in this hopeless franchise.

ratoppenheimer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 11:48:06 AM)

.
.
Andrew Krammer@Andrew_Krammer
Danielle Hunter, who may not play today, is really close to cashing in.
Dan Bailey (92%) also has $1 million to earn if he finishes season above 90% on field goals. One miss today could drop incentive by six figures.

Ben Goessling@GoesslingStrib
Danielle Hunter, who matched his career high with 14 1/2 sacks there, needs another half-sack for a $1 million incentive.

Bailey gets his. Has a lower extra point made percentage. Guess no incentives there, so finishing 33rd is ok.

There is no reason for ANY Vikings fan to have ANY optimism going forward. The entire organization needs a redo starting with the Wilf Brothers who are terrible owners. Sure, they have spent money, but those entrusted to finding and maintaining talent (and paying for the right talent) have entirely failed during their entire tenure as owners.

Ragnarök -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 3:37:33 PM)

All up to tonights game now...

Seattle Win and we play in Seattle

Niners Win and we play Saints

I won't be optimistic until we can get a coach in here that understands present day football as a minimum. Zimmer is as bad as they get in the NFL.

And still Cousins is Top 5 in most QB categories with basically one reliable WR for most of the year.

We probably are Top 5 in point differential.

Wonderboys McVay, Nagy, Kingsbury, Gase all sitting home next week. Rams and Bears have just as much if not more talent than we do.

I agree that Zimmer is probably not guy to get us over the hump but it could be worse. Definitely need to move on if we don't make run.

But, the Rams/Chiefs 'video game' game last year was an aberration and not the new norm.

Yes. We need a new stadium while we are at it. The place is outdated and terrible.

Top 5 in point differential and yet can't beat a team with a winning record? That's pretty damning of a coaching staff imo. To me that means we have lots of talent and can beat up on easier teams but as soon as we take a punch we're done.

I'm not excusing Zimmer.

Just not agreeing with the present day football take.

We threw a perfect slant today that might have lead to 4 or 6 point lead instead of 1. The guy dropped it. Were we playing for a FG?

I would hope we would try to score tds during any given game at some point. It just seems to me that Zimmer is happy with FGs a lot of the time. I think he's under the impression that his D is of the lights out variety. They aren't. if we roll out his garbage game plan next week do you really think we have a chance? I hope we go after it aggressively from an offensive standpoint. Too many times we're content to run up the middle on first and 2nd down only to be in 3rd and long.

GB game might be Zimmer's undoing. Everything to play for and you don't use the game plan(Play action, early and often) that helped you run it up against Philly, DET and others.

CPAMAN -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 5:01:27 PM)

IMO, Zimmer and Spielman are absolutely both fired if they lose next week, and they most assuredly will.

CPAMAN -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/29/2019 5:58:51 PM)

The Vikings have officially reached the depths of the Wild and Timberwolves franchises. The only difference is the Vikings get more media time because of their longevity in MN as a professional sporrts franchise and because of what they accomplished 40-50 years ago.
