Just saw that the Vikings designated for return from IR. Bret Jones, the offensive lineman.

Ifeadi Odenigbo was third on the #Vikings with seven sacks and led the team in sacks per snap (one every 42.9). He played 300 snaps. If he had played the same number of snaps this season as Danielle Hunter's 881, Odenigbo would have had 20.5 sacks. Hunter had 14.5.

I was saying the other day he should be starting, now. I bet he doesn't have the offside penalties that Everson Griffen commits, too.

Odds To Win Super Bowl 54

Team Odds

Baltimore Ravens +220
Kansas City Chiefs +375
San Francisco 49ers +400
New Orleans Saints +600
Green Bay Packers +1000
New England Patriots +1000
Philadelphia Eagles +2800
Seattle Seahawks +2800
Houston Texans +4000
Minnesota Vikings +4000
Tennessee Titans +4500
Buffalo Bills +5000

I was in Vegas Sunday and wanted to bet the Vikings to win the Super Bowl. However, the Vikings were playing the bears at the time so no bets allowed. Had to leave before the game was over so unable to place my bet.
I live in Arizona so I don't think I can bet from home. Anybody know how this works? I also want to bet the Vikings +8 against the Saints.

With the internet you can place a bet from damn near anywhere.

Legally? Can I accept my winnings in Arizona?

Outside of Cook, Theilen, and some normal injuries (Joseph type stuff), we have been remarkably injury free.

Kendricks' injury is at a bad time though.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2020 5:04:19 PM)

I think Gedeon is the only starter on IR, PUP, etc.

He was active through week 11.

8 solo tackles. For the season.

In a way, he could be considered a backup in which case we have no starters on IR.

#Gophers and #Vikings foreshadow each other in big games:

Gophers beat Penn State, Vikes beat Dallas.

Gophers lose to Wisconsin, Vikes lose to Seattle.

Gophers beat Auburn, Vikes beat New Orleans?!

Knocking out the Saints would definitely be cause for celebration. I would say that it would be a successful season if we do that. I despise that team!

There's a rumor here in Dallas that isn't dying. Since Jerry Jones is still silent about Garrett, a lot of chatter is circulating that he's waiting to see if Zimmer is available after Sunday's game. I guess you never know. Zim has ties to Dallas and everyone knows Jerry's ex-offensive coordinator isn't available in Sean Payton (who is rumored to be his first choice).

If true, that'd be a great "out" for us.
Maybe its Zimmers dream job? We can hope.

fan support is really going to plummet if this team lays an egg Sunday.

hard to get a read on what the Wilf's are thinking here.

I wouldn’t mind if StubHub prices came down some. It’s the only thing positive about a loss.

I will say Zimmer's D has had some good moments vs the Saints. This D shutout the Saints for 3 quarters in the playoffs in 2017. Last season the D did a pretty good job, but a fumble and pick 6 put the team in too big of a hole.

In the 2017 game, Payton did see that the way to attack the D was the LB in coverage and Mac in the slot. Mac is much improved since then.

The biggest difference in recent weeks for the Saints is Jared Cook and the involvement of Kamara. Cook is a matchup nightmare. My hppe is that Payton gets too cute which he has been known to do at times.

The Superdome is a buzzsaw, but the Saints haven't been that great there this year. They went 6-2, but they also had some very fortunate wins vs the Texans and Panthers.

Who knows, I doubt we can come away with a win there but there's some hope. Plus the D has been forcing TOs lately, 13 TOs between weeks 13-16.

The Saints dominated the Vikings D from the middle of the second quarter onward. A fluke interception, a failed trick play on third and 1, and a missed field are all that stopped them. Then the Eagles stomped the D, which was above average last year and seems below average this year.

It was on the Rome show too as a hot rumor this AM. He had on La Confora who said there are some within the Org that are convinced he's made us good but we'll never be great.

He also mentioned that if it happened it would be the end of the Cousins experiment. Like the 2 are tied to the hip.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2020 3:50:58 PM)

Top Tackling Teams in the NFL by Number of 2019 Missed Tackles:

5. Bears — 104 missed tackles
4. Saints — 100
3. Ravens — 99
2. Patriots — 93
1. Vikings — 86

NFL average is 121.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2020 3:55:57 PM)

Furthermore, in the five meaningful games since Dalvin Cook's initial injury (Weeks 11-16), the #Vikings were:

-third-last in yards per carry
-last in total rushing first downs
-fourth-last in short-yardage first-down pct
-last in runs of 10+ yds

So healthy Dalvin might help.

Kendricks practiced (limited) today. That is hopeful. There are quite a few players out or limited, though. Tomorrow is the key indicator.

Interesting

Might be able to worm a draft pick out of them. I think Cousins has shown just enough that he could be traded as well.

Move up a bit and snag Tua

Vikings went 3-2 with a close loss to SEA and a bad loss to GB. Cousins really carried the team in 4 of those games but even the threat of Cook is a huge game changer.

According to those odds, the Vikes are at 40-1 to win the Super Bowl.

So $100 gets you $4000 [plus your original $100 wager back], if, and only if, the Vikings win this year's SB. Great odds for a playoff team, the Vikes history of choking is finally getting them some better longshot odds.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2020 10:35:48 PM)

Baltimore Ravens +220
Kansas City Chiefs +375
San Francisco 49ers +400
New Orleans Saints +600
Green Bay Packers +1000
New England Patriots +1000
Philadelphia Eagles +2800
Seattle Seahawks +2800
Houston Texans +4000
Minnesota Vikings +4000
Tennessee Titans +4500
Buffalo Bills +5000

Philadelphia and NE are good bets, they know how to win. Jackson is great, but playoff inexperienced QBs, tend to falter when going up against QBs that have won SBs before.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2020 10:43:11 PM)

The Vikes have a choking HC and QB.

Zimmer defenses almost always choke in the playoffs, with Minnesota and Cincy.

Zimmer's only unit that looked good in the playoffs was the Dallas 2ndary, and that may have been because of Charles Haley, Leon Lett, and a willingness to do all out blitzes once in a while. Having an offense that could control the clock also probably didn't hurt that defense.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/2/2020 10:45:33 PM)

If Cook is healthy and the refs help the Vikes early on, the Vikes could pull an upset.

With a healthy Cook, I think the Vikes can beat any NFC team, except SF.
