Cousins is what Cousins is, and he's ours for at least this coming season. Complaining about him isn't going to help. He can make some sick ass throws, What he needs is protection. Our OLine needs drastic improvement in scheme and personel. The left side especially. for Cap reasons, I see Cousins getting a restrutured deal that counts less against the cap but gives him years.

Like him or not I don't think Cousins is leaving Minnesota any time soon.

There are going to be some tough decisions on some players this offseason. Rhodes, Griffin, Joseph, Waynes, Harris. Three will be restructured or traded/cut. The other two will either be let go or resigned. Our Oline needs upgrades. Can't let a three man rush beat you.

Zimmer should be on a hot seat now. If he gets to come back that should be the expectation. Make this team a real contender for the title. They cannot go 2-4 in their own division. They cannot go 0-2 vs the Packers, and 0-2 vs the Bears.

They need to figure out how to play from behind and still win. We have one real come from behind win in the past few years discounting the Miracle. They need to figure this shit out.

Cousins throws the best deep ball in the world.

Replacing Elf and Rhodes has to be a given.

And Linval

We missed Richardson badly as well, and just dont have lot of faith in what Griff has left in tank for what his demanded cost is... CBs being a hot mess in Zimms system is a real head scratecher as well...
Agreed

Encouraging quote from Zimmer when talking about the roster going forward.

"At the end of the day, football is a young man's game"

Was hoping he was talking about coaches...

Get an Offensive line!

I think part of the problem we have here is that the word Offensive has 2 different meanings and our front office is confusing the 2. [:D]

Yep. Linval is no longer a playmaker. Throw Stephen or Watts in his spot and we'll see little to no drop off. Pressure up the middle is kryptonite for pretty much every QB, and since we'll likely be starting Hill and Hughes at CB next year, pressure on the QB is going to be huge to help protect those guys in coverage. Luckily, there are some real stud DT's in this year's draft.

Zimmer quoted as saying that nothing will change with the offensive system for next season. The new offensive coordinator will have to adapt to the same plays, formations and overall concept as not to disrupt the status quo.

That is certainly reassuring. We now know that nothing will change and the offense will probably suck even more in 2020.

I thought our offense was pretty good in 2019. We just need two major upgrades on the O line and hope Bradbury improves and a legit #3 WR and they'll have the chance to be elite.

It's just the last GB game and the SF game that stick in our minds.

Overall it was good. Needs to be great though.

Agreed.

Guard play was an issue all year. They also couldn't move bodies on the inside against a good front. Too much inside pressure on straight drops or out of the shotgun. Elf routinely got trucked right off the snap. He's not strong enough to hold the point of attack.

To my eyes Kline was good. Another him would be a good Rx.

Replace Elfline with a good guard, bank on Bradbury getting better.

That sounds nothing like Twins like hope. It is addressing the greatest area of need on the line. If you are talking about Bradbury, it's completely reasonable to expect a player to improve from his rookie year.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/13/2020 2:21:57 PM)

DB coach let go:

Jerry Gray, who has coached the Vikings’ defensive backs throughout the Mike Zimmer era, has been told that he will not be returning this season. Gray has been a coach in the National Football League since 1999, and has played a significant role in the development of the Vikings’ defensive backs since he joined Zimmer in Minnesota in 2014. His name had been bandied about as a potential replacement for George Edwards as the team’s Defensive Coordinator, but now it would not be surprising if he’s one of the many that ends up following Kevin Stefanski to be part of his staff with the Cleveland Browns.

Appears as though Jayron Kearse's time as a Viking is nearing an end. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 18th

PFF data is up. Pat Elflein had a 9.5 pass blocking grade

(Luke Braun on Twitter)

Steve Lentz -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/13/2020 3:17:32 PM)

The Vikings had 8th ranked scoring offense and the 6th rated in yards per attempt. Get the OL figured out and add a 3rd receiver and we could be very scary. Next year can't get here too soon.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/13/2020 3:19:32 PM)

Ya know, I took a lot of people off block...

Mainly because others would respond to their trolling with unbridled hook line and sinker enthusiasm, going so far as to quote, dissect and repost entire conversations, back and forth between troll and trolled....

I can’t control that.

People wonder why many of our past posters no longer post here

It’s simple.

The ratio of “Vikings suck, player ‘x’ sucks, coach ‘x’ sucks, play calling ‘x’ sucks, game plan ‘x’ sucks “, etc... ad nauseas, far outweighs rational debate about players, coaches and game plan approaches that are well thought out and based on a real grasp of cost, salary, age, availability, and the fact that the talent pool , although quite expansive across all of the football “ minor leagues “ is very broad and has depth, there are not 1,696 all pro players, 32 “ perfect” head coaches, 64 starting or quality level Quarterbacks, or for that matter, a “perfect formula” for winning.

Every franchise has to find its way..
Luck and league favoritism is a real thing.
The NFL is a HUGE entertainment money making circus, owned and controlled by billionaire owners and corporate executives, sponsors, and media companies.

It is pure and simple, a cash cow.

We, as fans, control nothing, but the amount of money and anguish and devotion we invest in our choosen favorite.

I may very well die, before the Vikings ever win it all and hoist the Lombardi Trophy in long-standing, righteous vindication.

That FACT, will not change my love of the game, this team, or like minded fans who bleed purple, chant “SKOL”, and have a party before during and after all wins and losses.

Ya Whiners , bitchy, cant stand to not get your way, wannabes, can go take a flying finger Fuq at a rolling donut hole.

I won’t engage you...
CPA, Ragnor, Childress, etc..

I know who the good reads and well thought out posters are....
The rest of you embarrass yourselves..

Seems dumb. He's a guy we could re-sign at a reasonable number too.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/13/2020 3:31:25 PM)

May well see Son's Zimmer and Kubiak take over the head coordinator positions.

Not sure if I like that idea or not. While both lack the experience but at least a son would probably not be afraid to do what he thinks should be done w/o fear of being fired.
