STARTING THIS SUNDAY AT CHI. Dalvin Cook has been my favorite playmaker to watch the last couple years, but denied by injury. We can only hope he’s past that. Could be an MVP. He’s that good, and has been when healthy, but he is in a way better system. Best WR tandem. Quickly becoming damn near the best TE tandem. And then to QB.......[:-] Put up or shut Kirk. Big moment, big game...Do it...or just don’t freakin lose it. Awesome post Kurt!

I've talked about this in the past, that an underrated aspect of being a punt returner is catching the ball and making good decisions. Sherels is trustworthy. He might give us a little bit of juice with a punt return now and then and we'll take that. It seems that kickoff returns are becoming almost obsolete. More than half are touchbacks. Of course we don't want to cough up the football on a kickoff return either. I'm good with Sherels. That's why we pay him. When you play a team like Chicago we need to keep the turnovers to a minimum In their place they will eat us up. Of course, hopefullly Kirk has learned a valuable lesson from the Green Bay game. He's not stupid and the coaching staff is not stupid. They will try to protect the ball better in Chicago.

I know you want to advance your narrative about Kirk, but let it unfold by itself and frame it properly. This is not a primetime game unless it has been flexed in the last few hours. That 2003 game is particularly relevant to the ability of the interior OL to handle pressure from the Bears D. Thanks for the insight! Changing my bet as we speak!!!! Can someone please add how the fourth-and-short conversion rate across the NFL for some number of years should have informed our coaches last year---with last year's OL---- of whether to go for it in such situations? Analytics is so universally useful and applicable so broadly!

The biggest problem with the Vikings is that they had one of the greatest RBs ever on their roster....Spielman would just throw what he could at the oline and it would work and Zimmer was on board with that as they both thought a dominate defense and throwing assets at that side of the ball, running the ball, and Teddy could get it done. Fast forward a few years they bring in Kubiak/Dennison even after Shurmur's success following the Spielman/Zimmer footprint and he states emphatically.....upgrade the resources at Oline, TE, and RB. This team wasn't setup to win the Super Bowl with Sam, Case, Teddy, or Kirk until these changes were made. This team is setup to compete for the big prize. Kirk is the best QB we have had in years. He will come thru with these coaches and the changes and acquisitions that were made.
