The biggest problem with the Vikings is that they had one of the greatest RBs ever on their roster....Spielman would just throw what he could at the oline and it would work and Zimmer was on board with that as they both thought a dominate defense and throwing assets at that side of the ball, running the ball, and Teddy could get it done.

Fast forward a few years they bring in Kubiak/Dennison even after Shurmur's success following the Spielman/Zimmer footprint and he states emphatically.....upgrade the resources at Oline, TE, and RB.

This team wasn't setup to win the Super Bowl with Sam, Case, Teddy, or Kirk until these changes were made. This team is setup to compete for the big prize. Kirk is the best QB we have had in years. He will come thru with these coaches and the changes and acquisitions that were made.

Head..... meet tail....

The question is will you eat crow if you are wrong. They have put together one of their most balanced and talented rosters they have had in many years and all you want to comment on is Kirk. I will discuss anyone with you.....Irv Smith, Wilson, you name it. I am just totally sick of the Kirk being at fault discussion.

I have started numerous times I would like nothing more than to eat a huge plate of steaming crow!

It would mean we actually win the big one with this regime and QB...

Right wrong or indifferent, at least this board has continuity as passionate fans!

I respect everyone else's opinions and admit many here possess superior football intellect. We all contribute in our own way to making this board something we keep coming back to even though its far outdated in todays game...

Sort of like our current HC and his philosophies...

Having an explosive run game is what keyed the Rams last year....it wasn't their passing game. This isn't a 3 yard and a cloud of dust run game. This run game is what we had with AP in his hay day....not the one with Asiata that you seem to reference.

Your insistence on focusing only on Kirk is limiting you in enjoying the rest of what can be seen with this team. They just added couple explosive offensive pieces that were missing in Mattson (you need a good backup rb) and Smith as a deep threat at TE.

As fun as throwing to Diggs and Thielen is....this could be a well oiled machine....it is going to take a few weeks to get the rookies all mixed in.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 3:26:47 PM)

With only four WRs, Bisi and Laquon are both listed as second team behind Diggs and Thielen respectively. Will be interesting to see who's the third WR on the field. Here's hoping its Bisi.

Hughes returning kicks right now is a non starter. There is no way you expose him to that kind of risk right after he was finally cleared to play. Especially with the thin CB ranks.

Risk is almost zero, but if he isn't fully healthy I agree you wait until he is.

jason sehorn....

That's why I said almost zero. However, Hughes is far more likely to get injured playing CB than kick or punt returns.

A little good news. Maybe not a big deal, but I'll take it.

I love this team and who plays on it, always will, no matter the names and numbers...

I even enjoy watching KFC when he plays with thought and poise...

I just dont trust him... He is the Tin Man, playing with no heart... maybe he will find it this season... We do travel to the Emerald City in lucky week 13!

Follow the yellow brick road....

We have Doctson and Treadwell. Imagine that!

If that would have happened the day they were drafted a lot of posters here would have been doing back-flips.
Now.......not so much. LOL

I am willing to give Doctson a bigger leash than Treadwell....600 yards and 5 tds would be worthy 3rd Wideout ###s

Just an FYI in the future if you use that to label Kirk...I won't be responding to your post. You nor I have any idea if he has heart our not.

You can always cheer for someone else. Pick a different team if you need too. Case has a big heart in your opinion, feel free to cheer for the Redskins.

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 5:26:56 PM)

Hard to see how someone could say Kirk has no heart. Maybe he chokes, but not because he doesn't care or he's no committed....

MUST WIN - Monkey OFF BACK Game!

Sunday will be a prime time National game of the week in the spotlight.

Cousins’ record in primetime games is 5-13

Kirk is 4-26 against winning teams.

Cousins is 36-39-2 in his career as a starter.

On the road he’s 13-23-2.

Since 2010, the Bears are 15-4 against the Vikings at Soldier Field

Once again, those records are not all on Cousins. Until last year, he played for one of the perpetually shittiest organizations in football. There 10 other starters on offense, 11 other starters defense and special teams. This argument that the record is all on Cousins is ridiculous.

Is he still at it? Besides the logic argued against his disguised man slobbering, we've played at Chicago 19 times since 2010?

He comes in here like the drive-by troll that he is and fires off a series of shots at Cousins. Then, pathetically, he wallows and soaks in the rebuttals by others. Once he gets his jollies off, he signs off with some pseudo 'Go Vikes' crap.

Historically, the board does well at policing itself against trolls like him. Glad to see a few of you today firing back (at the risk of feeding his trollness). The guy that often sets people straight is Ian, he has a good way with words in those situations.

The Kirk Cousins apologists out in full force today...

Do note, I have never disrespected personally any one of your viewpoints, name called or called in question anyone's fandom here...

Pack VS Iggles tonight... impossible to cheer for either, so im hoping for misery on both sides ending in a tie...

Ragnarök -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 7:47:57 PM)

Just so you know... the Stats and stuff I posted in Italics this morning was from an actual article...

Not my made up stuff or my agenda, it was part of an article you can read here...

https://thevikingage.com/2019/09/26/4-reasons-minnesota-vikings-cousins-biggest-game/

4 reasons why Kirk Cousins is entering the biggest game of his career

He can finally shed the “can’t win the big one” label
Kirk Cousins is a very good NFL quarterback and that can’t be denied. He’s thrown for over 21,000 yards in his career with 132 touchdowns and 67 interceptions. That’s good for a career rating of 94.8.

These are very impressive numbers indeed. What isn’t so impressive is Cousins’ overall win-loss record. Cousins is 36-39-2 in his career as a starter. On the road, things are even worse as he’s 13-23-2.

A “great” quarterback leads his teams to big wins and Cousins simply has not done that. He is also extremely bad in primetime games and he is notorious for not being able to win the big one.

Cousins’ record in primetime games is a dismal 5-13. His record against opponents with a winning record is equally bad, as he’s only won four times against teams that have winning records.

This week, he and the Vikings will face the 2-1 Bears on the road and the matchup will be the featured afternoon game nationally.

Now one game isn’t going to immediately shed Cousins of his “can’t win the big one” label. It will, however, help if he can go into the hostile confines of Soldier Field and help Minnesota walk out victorious.

Cousins can’t just be a non-factor in a win either. If he plays awful, but the Vikings’ defense comes up big and wins the game, it won’t help Cousins get rid of his stigma.

He needs to play great, make good decisions with the football, and lead his team to victory. If he’s ever going to flip the script on his career record in big games, it needs to start this Sunday.

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2019/9/26/20885505/minnesota-vikings-chicago-bears-game-preview

Is Sunday a must win game?

For week four, it’s about as close to a must win as you get for this early in the season

If you guys think Im repulsive on my Cousins comments I suggest you NEVER peruse the comments sections of the Daily Norseman site! Your head will explode with what those guys chat about...

Ragnarök -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 8:55:35 PM)

The Packers inability to stop the run bodes well for us!

Difference in Eagles game and ours is that refs jobbed OPI and crap calls havent cost them like did for us...

Eagles watch our game? Adams working them...

Beluga still hurting... Freaking double Adams?

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 10:01:07 PM)

What's the point of being able to review PI calls if the officials won't overturn obvious missed calls?

And of course we got called for OPI on a review where they weren't even looking for it...

thebigo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/26/2019 10:03:37 PM)

Packers defense is S.O.F.T.

Agree, no standard, no continuity from game to game, group of officials...

Just feels like an vehicle within the rules that can change and sway games, EVEN IF ITS NOT, it looks that way, bad look for NFL!

A distinct fear of opposing D to draw flag hitting Rodgers as he scrambles is an huge advantage he uses like his hard counts as time expires for free plays... BS

Oh the satisfaction of seeing GB turn it over on downs down near goal line and not bailed out by refs...
