I'm not sure that Rudolph is even our second best TE right now, much less our best.

Quiet on Twitter for me. This is all I found:

Matt Birk on KFAN said the 2019 #Vikings have a lot of big names, but they need their star players to step up and have their best games when it matters most.

(Sean Borman on Twitter)

I think Rudy is our best, but if Smith is looking so good that some think otherwise good drafting Vikings.

Ignorance breeds contempt.

According to your tagline, you should have stayed in school.

Always nice to see you add something meaningful to the discussion...

Yes but one meaningless post at a time.

Versus

One-dimensional trollism over and over and over ....

On an FAN opinion board it is quite common to lament a position, especially one as key as QB, with many differing views no one will ever see eye to eye... Remember many of you were on the wrong side of the Ponder debate for some time...

Fans are passionate and sometimes the passion spills over into being critical of what we see as points of contention holding our team back from attaining the ultimate goal.

I have my opinions and post data or articles that support my stance... I do not take personal shots at other posters, be rude or condescending of their views.

We all contribute to this page, from many walks of life and viewpoints, I myself appreciate everyone's views and platforms... hell I even occasionally find myself swayed by others and admit to myself I was wrong after taking in all.

While I disagree with your continual denigration of Cousins, I respect your right to do so without having personal attacks result. Good for you that you can change your point of view and I'm confident that Cousins play through the rest of this season will result is some softening of your anti Cousins rhetoric.

I know I'm fighting City Hall on this, but I'm in favor of getting rid of instant replay in general. I've never liked it. Make the refs call the penalty and make them accountable for their mistakes. The quality of the game will be better because the flow of the play will not be interrupted.

I have to agree.... the technologist in me says there isn't any F"ING REASON we can electronically(replays, sensors, etc...) get the calls right... but the execution has just been a miserable failure.

If it's going to suck and be wrong and least don't slow down the game.

The co dependent problem is they keep make rules that are more and more subjective.

PI, valid catch, fumble... it's so open to interpretation that now 2 people see it the same.
Sucks a lot of enjoyment out of the game.

Im convinced without replay the Eagles lose that game last night. They had a TD given back and a fumble returned for a TD for the Packers taken off the board. That's a 14 point swing right there.

It's not a flawless system to be sure. They need to keep tweaking so it is more efficient, but a good system works.

Very valid point on the fumble reivews... I think they get those right way more often than not and it's a HUGE fix when it's right.

However, PI calls are just friggin coin flips right now... MN had a TD TAKEN AWAY on a terrible call.
Eagles got away with blatant PI on a REVIEWED play.

So maybe its just PI.

Sandejo is a big hitter (of both teams playing) and is a servicable player.

I thinking saying he should be thrown out of football is a bit harsh. As long as he can make a roster he has every right to earn a living doing so. This is still America.

His propensity for helmet to helmet hits and then not understanding why he got penalized for it makes him a very dangerous player. Serviceable is a bit generous when describing Sendejo.

Dude is clueless.

I think football should be made violent again. It's supposed to be tackle football. Not flag football or tackle gently football.

Lonnie Warwick was on Barreiro yesterday, said the regular practice back in the days of the PPEs was if a receiver was running a crossing pattern underneath, a clothesline was in order, and ne'er a flag didst fly.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2019 4:17:54 PM)

Both of the challenges by each team on the PI's should have been over turned.

Why they weren't is baffling to say the least.

Automatic review of turnovers, so it was reviewed. Game over.

True BUT... Was it just reviewed to confirm the TO or was it reviewed for pass interference? I personally do not believe there was PI.

As we've seen, any reviewed play is open for either an uncalled or a called PI review.

So are you saying that on every reviewed play whether challenge or from the booth they will check every eligible pass receiver and the defender to determine if there was a PI?
So they will look at the QB, RB or RBs, WRs, and TEs and see if they get an inkling of PI on the play by either side?

That's what they did to us on the GB touchdown.

I have a feeling it was done more because it was a Vikings score at Lamblow more than anything.....

Every reviewed play, be it a challenge, or an "official" review.

hagar -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/28/2019 12:06:54 AM)

From what I've seen so far, challenging a non-called PI is waste of time. Several that I've seen including ones that the
"rules analyst/expert" say is a classic example of PI are not changed. If blatant PI will not be called after review, then
what the hell is the point of having it challengeable?

5 starters not practicing for the Bears. Hope Hicks is not able to go. Nichols is out. Could be huge for us.

Hicks out would be a definite advantage. Bears get pressure without blitzing. Hicks just might be the second best player on that team.

If Gabriel is out, probably not that big of a deal. Might see more of Miller. And, with Hughes healthy, they can continue their rivalry. They had some battles in the AAC.

If Pineiro is injured, that probably makes us even in the kicking game.

Trubisky really doesn't seem like he is progressing very much. However, he did run 10 times against us at Chicago last season. Not terribly effective, but the threat is there. I think our DL is really disciplined, and I doubt we let him get loose.

Dream game for Zimmer. Run, and make Trubisky try to beat you.

We're a 2 point dog. I think we win by 6+.

On a more controversial note, I don't think the league wants us to lose this one. I don't think the officials will cheat against us. I don't think that the booth reviews are designed to harm only us. I think we are a much better team, and we will get an important divisional road win.

We currently might be slightly better offensively but Chi defense is slightly better than ours so I'd call it a push.

My fear is we come out sleep walking in the 1st qtr similar to GB.

We need to be like a leopard hiding behind the bush ready to strike at the opening bell.

Trubisky is averaging 5.6 yards per attempt. For as bad a year as Cousins is having, he's averaging 8.0 yards per attempt. That's just one stat, but I think it gives some sense for how poorly Trubisky is playing thus far.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/28/2019 8:22:01 AM)

From DailyNorseman:

The Bears front is good enough to get consistent pressure rushing four but Pagano is bringing creative, exotic blitzes from everywhere. They’ve already had seven different players record a sack and they’re on pace to beat last year’s team total of 50 (I know, it’s early). He can do that because the back end is anchored by the dynamic Eddie Jackson and good corner play from Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, and newly acquired Buster Skrine.

I hope we can counter all the pressure.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/28/2019 8:31:06 AM)

After three games, Dalvin Cook is on pace to rush for 2000 yards. It doesn't seem far-fetched that he could do it.

That pace likely will take a setback vs the Bears, but I do believe that our running game will only get better and better as the season progresses as the wear and tear of the season takes its toll on the defenses and even some of the teams are just playing the season out.

With regard to tomorrow's game, I do believe that it is a must win game for the Bears and not for the Vikings. They absolutely have to win their home games and imagine how it would be for them to lose not one, but two home games in the month of September.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/28/2019 9:18:32 AM)

In this particular contest I'd come out throwing the ball. Chi will be expecting us to test them running the ball.

After they counter then you feed them a steady dose of Cook and Mattison.

I'm afraid we'll come out trying to establish the run and they will shut it down. Then we'll be a dead man walking.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/28/2019 9:46:47 AM)

Zimmer has talked about how he wants to have balance. The nice thing about how the Vikings approach their offense now is that the defense can not really tell by our formation or personnel whether we will run or pass out of it. We are absolutely more unpredictable than we have been in the past. With the play action we're supposed to be able to react to how the defense lines up, too. Of course there is deception on the part of the defense, too, but then there will be times where they outsmart themselves if we keep pounding the ball. The Bears offense is so good and fast that any advantage of surprise will have to be just for a split second. In the end, the Vikings will have to man up and make plays against a team that will be highly motivated at home. Any betting man would have to favor the Bears. Nevertheless, if our team is going to be Super, then they will have to find a way to win some of these games. Even if it's not pretty or because the Bears quarterback does something stupid- it's our turn to win that kind of game.

Throwing didn't work out so well last year, but we do have a running game now based on a small sample size.

I think what matters most is every Viking winning their battle, be it OL or WR. Based on that, the area around the interior OL could be ugly. So how best to cover that weakness?
