ORIGINAL: Dana Turner There are a few positions that it is extremely rare that they come in and contribute at a high level, no matter where they were drafted. You can count the CB's on one hand that came in to the league on their first year and were solid, it's just the NFL vs. NCAAFB, there is a huge difference between professionals and college athletes. You see the big ugly's come in during their first year and contribute, but that's because they are part of a unit, a group that is running out a scheme or protection. WR's, CB's and to some extent Safeties, have a more difficult assignment because if they "F" up, points go on the board, and the rookies get exposed by professional coordinators all the time. We need to take a CB with the 22nd or 25th pick, but the guy we take has to have the smarts if he's going to contribute early. Chances are he will rotate in at nickle like Hughes did or corner like Hill did, but I think there will be a veteran picked up in the next 10 days or so. Our CB room is thin and adding a draft pick or two to it does not make it capable. That said, I am hoping they trade back the #22 to #34 or 35 and get another third or top 4th, take someone like Ruiz with the 25th, get a CB at the top of the second and a guy like Pittman at the #58 pick. Then maybe get another CB or Safety, and BPA in the third. I am not as worried as some about the DL, because I have been watching film on Peirce and he will be fine in the LJ roll, I truly believe Watts will be a stud, starting with this year and if one more guy can step up, besides the steady Stephen, like Holmes or Hercules, we can have a pretty solid rotation going in the middle. I believe Griff will come back for around 6 million for his last season, not sure why I feel that way, I just do. Even if he doesn't/does we need to add one more edge guy to fill out the rotation. This is obviously an unusual draft coming up. We have to hope that they draft smart, hard working, football intelligent guys like we have been doing. They don't have to be super athletes, but they do need to have good work ethics and smarts if they are going to contribute early. Guys like O'Neal aren't hard to find, but you have to be looking in the right direction and avoiding too much hype! Nobody thought O'Neal was going to be as solid as he is when we picked him, that's the kind of luck/scouting we need to hit on about six times in this upcoming draft if we are going to remain relevant. Dana I totally respect your opinion so if you expect Watts our 6th round pick from last year who barely played to not only start, but be a stud I'm going with it. I also love the idea of Griffen coming back.
