Ron Johnson is saying that Jaleel Johnson is weighing 320 now. He might be the favorite for now to be the guy at nose on first and second downs.

My feeling is that Jaleel will have a breakout season.

It sure would be great if he did. Go Vikings.

Check out this catch by Jefferson at practice.

It doesn't mean anything, but Purple for the Win a daily Vikings YouTube site is predicting a Cook extension done before the end of this week.

The thing is when Kubiak and Dennison won a SB it was achieved by a great defense. Their offense absolutely stunk that season.

This guy I find to be nothing more than a hack.

Your or my prediction carries as much weight as his.

Nice grab. I read it was Browning throwing the crappy pass.

yeah His predictions are made just for fun. I never take them seriously, but I like to listen to his show. He's a likable guy IMO.

TRAE WAYNES
DB, CINCINNATI BENGALS

Bengals CB Trae Waynes could be out for up to two months after suffering a pectoral injury.
A rare splashy signing by Cincinnati, Waynes in March was signed to a three-year deal worth $42 million to shore up one of the league's worst pass defenses. The Bengals allowed 7.8 yards per pass attempt and 12.7 yards per completion in 2019, both league highs. The Bengals opening the season without Waynes, the No. 11 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, once again makes them a prime target for fantasy purposes. The Chargers play the Bengals in Week 1.

Manning was a shell of his former self and missed 6 games due to injury. Terrible QB play doomed that offense.

33 days to the season opener.

Must win game against the Fudge at home.

The loss of Pierce and apparently signing no legit replacement for him has me much less confident about this season. My honest expectation has dropped from 10-6 to 8-8.

TBH I'm not sure Pierce is a dedicated football player. He has trouble keeping his weight under control and opted out almost immediately. This has all the to familiar of a look of a guy that just wanted to get paid but not strive to be great. I know he has an excuse but his chances of catching the virus playing football are less than him going about his daily life. He may well eat himself out of football by taking the year off.

I think we have a couple guy's in Jaleel Johnson and Jaylon Holmes that have been in the system and are due to step up. watts is also certainly in the mix. Lynch may need a red shirt year. I don't think Hall was the answer even if he had passed his physical. Don't count out hercules either.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/11/2020 5:12:10 PM)

Crossing routes are more common with slot receivers, no? Jefferson might be a good fit for how the game is evolving.

His Asthma and Pneumonia history was a huge red flag to playing this year. I think he made the right decision to opt out. I have the same concern as you that he might eat himself out of the league, but I don't question his desire. I've seen him play and I've seen him work out. He has the passion for the game. It is a question of discipline. He could surprise us and come back next year in the best shape of his life. He's only getting $350k for this season. Isn't he looking at $9 million per for the remaining years?
None of the players you mentioned are those space taking run stuffers. I don't feel good about them playing the position that pierce was going to.

Why don't you think Lynch can step in and get some reps?

Because there were no OTA's or minicamps, still no padded practices until the middle of August and no preseason games. It is the worst possible year for rookies getting on the field.

Nick Olson is saying that stopping crossing routes is the reason Zimmer is going to more cover 4 looks. Imy not sure what that means.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/11/2020 10:00:41 PM)

More from Nick Olson:

High praise from @BrandonThornNFL here for Brian O'Neill:

"Certainly on the rise …He kinda reminds a little bit of Lane Johnson—physically, his tools, his traits. He still has maybe another year or two to really get to that level but I think he's on the way there, honestly."

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/11/2020 10:03:13 PM)

Former #Vikings DE Everson Griffen now can visit teams as a free agent. As the Pioneer Press had reported earlier this year, being unable to visit had factored into him remaining unsigned. Teams want to meet with him considering off-the-field issues he had in 2018.

This explains the cover 4 defense, but to be honest with you, it's over my head. It sure is complicated.
