-Cam Dantzler is big. Looks bigger in person. He played outside corner w/Holton Hill on opposite sides with Hughes in the slot in nickel
-Vikings gave Tajae Sharpe Treadwell’s No. 11. That was weird to see

(Courtney Cronin)

Dantzler is Tall. Last time I checked he was ridiculously skinny. They say trying to bulk up for the combine is what tanked him combine 40.

Yeah. I saw him in a group picture on the field with other corners. He stood out for being tall, but also skinny looking. If I see that picture again I'll post it here.

Cameron Dantzler got a crack with the first-team corners with Mike Hughes kicking inside. Keep in mind, though, Jeff Gladney was inactive.

we are going to be very deep with solid young cb's over the next couple of seasons....

Speaking of photos, here is one of Mike Boone. The dude has been working out big time.

His shoulders look like implants! That's what a good training program can do for you.

They should let the two of them fight for the position. Samia would win it easy.

I hope we figure out the oline puzzle. That's the one thing that could hold us back this year. That, and the ability to create some movement in the interior dline.

Thanks to Bruce for posting all of this information! Glad you're back, sir.

History says the only way Elflein loses that starting spot is if he gets injured. Zimmer isn't big on competition for starting spots. Maybe this time it will be different.

Not a chance. Elflein is a good wrestler.

Disappointing not to see Samia working 1st team. Not a good sign.

Level 1:
Going to be completely honest -- every time I've seen Samia on the field -- preseason or Wk 17 vs CHI, I was not impressed. Thought it was a great pick at the time but doesn't appear to have shown out. Vikings are probably correct to put him at the back of any guard competition.

They seem committed to find a place for Elflein....

Andrew Krammer@Andrew_Krammer
Pat Elflein at right guard, Dakota Dozier at left guard for the #Vikings’ first-team offense today. Elflein, who has started at left guard and center, moved back to his old spot at Ohio State on the right side.

Aviante Collins also mixing in at left guard with 1’s.

It's not so much still because it's just practice without pads. Monday is the big day. But I am like you and everybody else here who is craving for something beyond the speculation. We are hopeful, but we want our hopes to be based on something substantial.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/15/2020 7:12:59 AM)

A video clip of CJ Ham. He looks good. It makes me feel like our running game will be hard to stop with the power running of him, Mattison and Cook.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/15/2020 7:19:47 AM)

Is it just me or are the Vikings showing an affinity for Oklahoma U players? Parker is 6'2". That's good height and he has starting experience. I'm trying to figure out why he was released so early by the Dolphins, though.

I did find this article that explains a bit.

▪ Contract status: Due $585,000 next season in the final year of his contract, then will become exclusive rights free agent.

▪ The metrics: Played 339 snaps and allowed seven of 10 passes in his coverage area to be caught for 100 yards, with three touchdowns and two acrobatic interceptions, equating to a 102.1 rating in his coverage area. His run defense grades were third among Dolphins safeties, per PFF (behind Jones and Walt Aikens).

▪ The future: Parker started the third and fourth games of the season but just twice more the rest of the way. Coaches wanted more consistency, but the athletic interceptions and run game metrics show there’s something to work with here. Should compete for a backup safety job in camp.

We pretty much only go as far as our oline (weak link) can take us every year.

"I expect a big jump out of Mattison. We call Mattison Deuce, so you can start calling him Deuce. That's the name for him."

(Dalvin Cook)

It is season number deuce for Mattison.

Here's a one minute video of yesterday's practice. I like the catch at the end by Quartney Davis. He's number 14. Wasn't that Diggs number?

We have size and athleticism if we can figure out where to put everybody.

It's not like we have a roster of stiffs like we have had in the past.

Spielman has finally started using some draft stock toward this unit.

Better late than never I guess.

Fred Cox attempted just 24 FGs of 50 yards or more in his NFL career, and made only 2. Here is a 51 yarder that was no good in 1969 vs the Cardinals. With less amount of the foot on a ball as compared to soccer-style kickers, conventional kickers had little margin for error.

Unless you were kicking with half of a foot.

I saw that live (on TV). Anyone else?
