Historic Success Chart

The numbers show us the following outline for finding consistent starters:

1st Round - OL (83%) LB (70%) TE (67%) DB (64%) QB (63%) WR (58%) RB (58%) DL (58%)

2nd Round - OL (70%) LB (55%) TE (50%) WR (49%) DB (46%) QB (27%) DL (26%) RB (25%)

3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)

4th Round - DL (37%) TE (33%) OL (29%) LB (16%) WR(12%) DB (11%) RB (11%) QB (8%)

5th Round - TE (32%) DB (17%) WR (16%) OL (16%) DL (13%) RB (9%) LB (4%) QB (0%)

6th Round - TE (26%) OL (16%) DL (13%) WR (9%) DB (8%) RB (6%) LB (5%) QB (0%)

7th Round - DB (11%) OL (9%) QB (6%) WR (5%) DL (3%) LB (2%) RB (0%) TE (0%)

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015/2/20/8072877/what-the-statistics-tell-us-about-the-draft-by-round

I can see this chart is messed up at a moments glance. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick yet the chart says 0% QB starters drafted in 6th round.

Maybe they are rounding to the nearest whole #.

That would require over 200 QBs drafted in the 6th round.

I'm surprised they kept Abdullah, considering. I mean last year he had like 15 catches for 88 yards. Just curious where the value is there.

They might want to see how Osborn looks at KR first and so they can put Abdullah back in if Osborn doesn't pan out.

Or you could click on the link and see that those numbers are from 2005 until 2014.

Brady was not drafted in those years and those numbers are not too current. It was posted in 2015 meaning the 2013 and 2014 guys also would not have had full time to be a "consistent starter" yet, so the whole list seems dated and not fully accurate.

Bill posted it and didn't mention it was for a particularly limited time frame. Why did I need to click the link. I had the numbers right here.

I almost posted the same thing earlier.

Abdullah would be my choice for a cut to pick up a Safety.

He also will have his contract for the year guaranteed if he is on the roster for the first game. Unless they changed that rule

#Vikings keep seven receivers: Beebe, Jefferson, Johnson, Osborn, Sharpe, Thielen, Chisena.

Osborn is not really taking up a spot on the roster as a 'WR' and Chisena really isn't either, the Vikings must be bonkers on him as a ST gunner, because he will never be a WR at this level, more likely he would develop into a safety type, which is also not particularly likely.

we are $800k under the cap...we are going to sign a safety, we better sign one before we're on the hook to pay the player we're planning to cut for him....

we should have traded jacksonville a 5th and 7th for safety ronnie harrison, a 2nd round pick in '18....

you know that spielman is talking to cleveland for sendejo...right?...spielman has brzezinski trying to find a loophole in the cba where we can play our first game with only 52 players - thus no guaranteed contract....

Oh he can play WR, but he is taking up a roster spot normally/often reserved for a KR/PR, and that is the real reason he made the roster.

BigO read what I wrote. I said yes.

I read what you wrote, it read more like one of my 'if by 1400 yds from scrimmage you mean 800 yards, then yes you are spot on' posts. But I can see how you meant that more agreeably. My bad.

Cool.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson

Source said that this past week #Vikings rookie WR K.J. Osborn was the first-team punt and kickoff returner.

I'm surprised they kept Abdullah, considering. I mean last year he had like 15 catches for 88 yards. Just curious where the value is there.

They might want to see how Osborn looks at KR first and so they can put Abdullah back in if Osborn doesn't pan out.

Idt Abdullah returned any punts but was the KR guy. But he really blossomed as a gunner on ST's and we probably do need 4 RB's considering Cooks injury history.

Me too. So does Jaleel Johnson and Shamar Stephen.

Every other aspect of the defense including the young Cornerbacks I’m good with.

Think the WR/TE room will impress as well.

I hear ya. I’m a bit more relaxed on the interior d line because there are things we can do with scheme to help them out because there are elite defenders behind them and next to them. Also, perhaps they’ll be average or even above- we don’t really know yet. That interior o line must stand on their own. Come on big surprise from Dozier and Bradbury! I don’t know what to wish for in regards to Elflein because history says there’s only one way he’s getting replaced. Can’t really wish that on him.
