#Vikings OC Gary Kubiak said "we're trending in the right direction" about both TE Irv Smith Jr. and FB C.J. Ham able to play Monday at Chicago.

#Vikings special teams coordinator Marwan Maalouf confirmed team is looking to work out punter Drew Galitz later this week. He said the team has an opening on the practice squad for a specialist after Chase McLaughlin picked up by Jacksonville.

(Chris Tomasson)

Do you think that the team was not happy with two blocked punts last Sunday? Just asking, because I know there were blocking break downs, but is our punter a little slow with his get off times?

Edit: For what it's worth I found this:

#Vikings special teams coordinator said there "no issues with Britton Colquitt.

(Chris Tomasson)

I also found this from Tomasson:

Marwan Maalouf says there are three guys working in practice on long snapping but won't name them. He's optimistic, though, that Austin Cutting can get off the COVID-19 list.

And this one too:

#Vikings Marwan Maalouf said the blocked punts last Sunday were both "technique" not "mental.'' Said the key now is working on fundamentals.

Kirk Cousins has won 17 of his 20 games (85%) as a #Vikings QB in which over 25% of his drop backs that game have involved play action

He has won only 5 of his 21 games (24%) as a Vikings QB in which 25% or less of his drop backs have involved play action

(Nick Olson on Twitter)

Every qb has better statistics off play action.

What separates good qb's from bad ones is the non play action stats.

Colquit sure looked slow to me getting off that second punt.

#Vikings Defensive Rankings (Week 10)

Total Defense: 29th (412 YPG)
Pass Defense: 30th (287 YPG)
Rush Defense: 20th
Pass Rush Efficiency: 17th

PRE has dropped 5 spots since the Ngakoue trade.

Chicago Bears Defensive Rankings

Total Defense: 9th
Pass Defense: 7th
Rush Defense: 14th
Pass Rush Efficiency: 10th

When was the last time our OL played well IN Chicago? Can't think of a game, actually.

#Vikings list Irv Smith Jr. as having a groin injury, which kept him out of practice after Smith missed the end of Sunday's game.

(Sam Ekstrom on Twitter)

I guess he hurt his groin from his celebration. Maybe he needs to find a different way to celebrate.

I don't think play action works as well when you don't have a dynamic running back like the Vikings do, so they should take advantage of that.

PFF claims there are no requisites for effective play action. It works even if you haven't run the ball recently and it works if you haven't run the ball effectively.

Source said #Vikings Ezra Cleveland again will start at right guard Monday at Chicago after Pat Elflein activated today. (That, of course, is barring something unexpected happening in Saturday practice) Elflein didn't practice today Rookie Cleveland in line for 4th straight start.

Yep.

1st punt block was a whiff block on Boone.

Source: The #Vikings have released G Pat Elflein. The veteran now goes on waivers. Just off IR, he’s healthy now and this gives him the opportunity to get some real playing time elsewhere.

Holy s***. Who saw this coming?

Actually kind of a dumb move. Elf is at least better than Samia if Clev or Dozier get hurt.

Guest -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2020 10:09:50 AM)

Yeah but could you imagine the outrage if they re-inserted Elflein for Cleveland? 😂

It did cross my mind.

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2020 10:26:21 AM)

Who are the back-up guards?

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2020 10:29:14 AM)

Below is the current depth chart from the Vikings own website for the interior offensive line:

LG - Dakota Dozier, Dru Samia
C - Garrett Bradbury
RG - Ezra Cleveland, Dru Samia

WTF??????

True, Samia shouldn’t be allowed on the field again.

Elf could play C too se he is position flexible.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd be sticking up for Elf.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2020 10:37:47 AM)

The moves this regime makes regarding the oline are usually beyond stupid.

Just think where we'd be right now if Reiff didn't accept that pay cut. That was a risky move although we do have better T depth than G
