The Democrats are completely capable of blowing any election. One of the keynote speakers at the national convention will be Hillary Clinton. That's a start.

One can only ask, why?

That's akin to having Les Steckel represent the Vikings in some national event.
We all be like [:-]

She's speaking on the second to last night. With Obama and others.

Booker and Mayor Pete on the last night.

Football practice started in ND yesterday.

It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Our school starts Aug. 26th. Masks in hallways and lunch lines or wherever you can't social distance. They can take them off in classroom(where they will be social distanced). Take into account that we only average 12-15 students per grade.

I was up fishing at Devil's Lake about a month ago.

From what i researched ND has a very small% of covid cases and most seemed to be in Fargo.

Hope it goes well up there.

There have been a few more now in rural areas. A lot more testing has been going on.

In Minnesota at least, this recent swoon in cases is purely a hype/left loving media creation. Even though they have recently been performing 2x-3x the daily tests vs the COVID high points of April-May, there are actually fewer daily cases. In fact, the % of positive cases per test since June 3 is 4%, from 4/13 to 6/1 that number was 12%.

So the swoon in deaths that the media so desperately craves, and has the sheep cringing in their bubbles, isn't going to happen.

Minnesota hospitalizations and ICU admissions both on an elevated plateau recently. Are the hospitalized part of the conspiracy on the left, media creations, or just sheep that are choosing to get sick?

I can see why you're voting for Trump, though; it's all over your posts.....

bohumm -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (8/11/2020 6:10:39 PM)

People who vote for Trump this time around are either racists, xenophobes, sexists, homophobes, science deniers, etc, or they're willing to support a clear demagogue who embodies all of those things in order to get what they want. It may be law and order, abortion rights, financial considerations, etc, but the key is you have to say that whatever your thing is, it's more important than competence and the list of Trump attributes above. I get that some people may go that way, but it tells us a lot.....

The biggest problem besides the receding polar ice caps. Is that the plankton in the ocean is disappearing at an alarming rate.

5 REASONS TO THANK PLANKTON THAT YOU’RE ALIVE TODAY.

1. Plankton make up 95 per cent of ocean life
2. They form the base of aquatic food webs
3. They generate half of the atmosphere’s oxygen
4. They help absorb carbon emissions
5. But our increasing emissions are harming them

Shhhhhhhhh. Don't throw reality at the boy. He's got his hands full with COVID-19. Only one disaster at a time.

We have completely lost our way as a country. When you start putting your financial desires over the health and well-being of your kids and society, you have really failed miserably as a nation.

But, you have the other side pandering for votes without any regard for people's safety. Sitting on your hands watching a mob do 55B dollars in damage to a city and its people should automatically disqualify you from public office.

When you watch Star Wars do you cringe when the domestic terrorists, led by Luke Skywalker, do trillions of dollars of damage to government property at the end of A New Hope?

Worst analogy ever.

Luke would start shooting up a Rebel planet if you want a good comparison.

Public safety? Did a rash of people die from the public outcry I'm not aware of?

The public displays following the George Floyd saga were a result of two centuries worth of neglect. I would hardly put those issues on an even plain. $55-billion dollars in damages is a small price to pay for 200 years of neglect and social injustice. In the end, the country is better for it. Flags have been eliminated. Statues have been torn down. Reform has started. As I see it, well worth the money spent.

Not sure how any of it relates to plankton growth in the ocean. That was a weird response to the issue of global warming.

29 have died. And the majority of the USA is sick of the rioting.

I'm sure you don't hear about it in SoCal.

And like JBusse said, the alienation of the police has turned people away from the Far Left.

Nothing has come in this country without sacrifice and political strife. The riots and civil unrest were a necessary evil.

The results coming in the fallout from the George Floyd case have changed our landscape forever. Statues have fallen. Flags have been changed. NBA players are no longer frowned upon for taking a knee during the anthem. Professional teams are wearing slogans on their jerseys. The Washington football team changed its name. Police departments are finally losing funding and revisiting protocols. Just to name a few.

It may have been uncomfortable for some and exposed the police forces nationwide for institutional issues, but it was needed. In what has been a disastrous 3.5 years, it was the one beacon of hope. Black people and white people walked arm-in-arm in uniting against 200+ years of oppression. I was inspired. It was the only positive thing about 2020.

Some of the protests were inspiring.

Burning up minority businesses, starting police stations on fire(if they burn alive, so be it), 29 lives taken, etc... These events overshadow the good.

I'd be inspired as a Viking Fan if all I watched was the highlight reel of 2019. No showing Elfy getting pancaked, Rhodes get burnt, Cousins fumbling.

I can readily admit that our current situation is getting to me on a number of levels. Our country is in a multi-front crisis and I'm alarmed and disturbed by how we're responding. I think it's probably clear that much of that alarm and disturbance for me comes in response to Trump and his folks as well as the public health/public response to the virus, but it may surprise some that I was also deeply disturbed by the rioting, looting, and mayhem in response to the reprehensible conduct of the Minneapolis police. Protests and minor mayhem were appropriate, but as Mark said the major destruction, fires, injuries, and death were abhorrent as well as self-defeating. And, for what it's worth, I too think this will hurt Biden and Harris, though, ironically, they'll also get hurt from their left for being too law and order.

With regard to what I said above, I know it's provocative, but it's how I see things. It's also not as bad as it may sound; many don't get their candidate and decide on the basis of the pros and cons of the candidates available. I think there can be no denying that Trump embodies those things listed above and/or supports policies that comport with those attributes. That doesn't bother some as much as others, and indeed we have a significant portion of our society that aligns with him on those fronts. I believe that in 2016 there were a lot of people who voted for Trump because of a single issue like opposition to legal abortion, 2nd Amendment, or economic/regulatory policies, and hoped he would not be as bad as they feared he could be. This time around we can't deny what he is, like it or not. I also get that some people might not like him or or have severe misgivings, but also don't like Biden and have issues they feel strongly about like Todd with law and order.

But this election isn't happening in a vacuum. If you vote for Trump, you're voting for someone who openly called white supremacists "fine people," who still says he would have had no problem with the Central Park Five getting the death penalty, who has completely botched his response to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, and on and on. If a single issue overrides all that, I hope it's worth it.

To be candid, I don't know that I would have phrased this exactly like I did above face-to-face, so I appreciate Ricky calling me out. But the current state of our country is grinding on me, and the public health crisis we're in has brought to light such callous indifference in our society. I had my physical today, the last time I'll see this doctor who I really like (imagine not being able to see your own doctor....and it having nothing to do with Obamacare, and everything to do with corporate greed and failure of leadership at the national level). She said she's feeling the same way regarding our public health crisis and told me more stories like the ones I shared. Neither of us is on the front lines clinically with COVID-19, but we both have visibility into it; she is demoralized and worn out, and she's normally very upbeat. She's worried about her kids, not wanting them in school but not seeing what she wants out of remote learning, and seeing no end in sight to our current plight.

So, yeah, this is getting to me.

Get back to me in 20 years on this. In 2040, short of the owners, nobody will remember one business that got burned. The good will far outweigh the bad. Not even close.

I'm sorry it saddened you. I'm sorry it was a disappointment to you. I'm sorry it stirred up emotions in you. But if you can't see the point of it all, you need to check your values. The buildings and businesses can be rebuilt. For George Floyd and many others, however, life ended as a result of ongoing corruption and lack of institutional control that has existed for over 200 years.

It was time! Enough with the fancy talk and promises by politicians. Take to the streets and let your actions be heard. It if makes people uncomfortable for a few weeks, so be it. The alternative was life as usual, which for many, was no longer an option.

2020 was a bad year for pacifists.

Send this post to the families of the 29 dead during the protests. You just gloss over that fact like it didn't happen.

Maybe you need to check your values.

Send this post to the families of the 29 dead during the protests. You just gloss over that fact like it didn't happen.

Maybe you need to check your values.

Abortion is a very important issue to many people. they will overlook other flaws in a candidate.

There is something truly wrong with most of the human race that they allow helpless children to get slaughtered.

**** off, and hunker down.

Todd, I've known you for over 20 years and never heard you come close to those kind of words before.

bohumn, I have a brother and son who'd put you in the emergency room if you said that to them face-to-face.

- I've always liked you a lot, man, but I think this thread is getting to you a little bit.

- I'd vore for Pete but no way in hell am I voting for Joe.

It's grinding on a lot of people. I personally have a hard time listening to the hard core on either side of this ... what's way worse is the racist ewen21 people of this world - they give me no hope

I just want to live in peace and not be bombarded with how much the world sucks every day.

- - I appreciate the response. I was hoping it wouldn't go negative

- A little story about my brother. On the way back from a funeral in Hutch' we stopped in for a Twins game. Great stuff. It was the game Escobar hit two out. After the game I bought my son a Rosario jersey and Jon couldn't decide on a Rosario or an Escobar - the two homers swayed his decision and of course he was traded after that ..

Anyway, it was a bitch getting out of the city with the construction. When we finally got going S I said something to set Jon off on a rant about Trump and how much the far left was F up the country. He never shut up until we got to Rochester. All I could do was kind of nod at certain spots in the one-sided conversation. Lawd!

Abortion is a very important issue to many people. they will overlook other flaws in a candidate.

There is something truly wrong with most of the human race that they allow helpless children to get slaughtered.

Many others our flat out sick of the career politician and simply want change.

If care for helpless children is their issue, then Trump is most decidedly NOT their guy. Torturing children at our southern border and now insisting that children go back to school during a pandemic - - - he's definitely not on board with taking care of babies or children.

I'm certainly not endorsing Trump. He's an idiot beyond anyone's wildest expectations.

The biggest problem is that each party puts winning above actually presenting us with a worthy candidate.

Perhaps there is no worthy candidates because it is not a worthy system. If that's what the system produces, maybe it is time to change the system.

Couldn't agree more
