<crickets>

Dan must have scared you guys away - ha ha, jk

- So what is this new term, Snowflake? I heard it last week for the first time when my old secretary referenced Seattle Snowflakes (her just coming back from visiting her boy stationed out there).

- Then I hear I believe DF use the term but I don't think, "correctly." [;)]

Snowflake! ha ha! That'd probably piss me off.

Twinkie has always pissed me off.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Snowflake

Snowflake
A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.

This has nothing to do with politics. Snowflakes can be liberal or conservative. Whether it is a compliment or an insult is a matter of opinion and depends on the context.

unome -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (8/18/2020 10:22:43 AM)

Being called a snowflake puts a person in a tricky situation. If they get really offended that they were called a snowflake, then they start looking just like, well, a snowflake.

It is like the one personal insult that really cannot be refuted by anything but ignoring the personal insult.

So if someone calls you a snowflake, rub some dirt on it, and get back on the field.

Provided your description is accurate.

When someone calls on the Russian government to help win an election and then is put in office despite getting 3-million less votes, he should not whine about the potential for a rigged election. If there ever was a snowflake, it's the guy in the White House. His sensitivity to issues is unparalleled in American political history.

Have we ever had such a baby in office? The media is out to get him. The Democrats are out to get him. His followers incessantly whine. If you listen to him or his followers, you'd think they got ripped off at some point.

Another way to handle it is to embrace it. When anyone asks me what my political stance is I always answer 'snowflake, libtard, liberal'. It takes the power away and removes those labels from the argument. Then they get to spend time wondering why I'd identify myself like that and also as a business owner, gun owner, NFL season ticket owner, GWB voter (twice!), and still proud to be an American. Short answer - it's because I have the ability to think and reason.

Copying and pasting this one.
Can't get much simpler.
They think it hurts … nah.
It's fun being "different" out in our part of the world, David.

His sensitivity to issues is unparalleled in American political history.

THIS

Most of his ardent supporters play the "tough guy" card
He's by far the thinnest-skinned individual ever to hold a high office.
Can dish it like its hot, but cannot take ANYTHING in return. Much like his cult members.
Talk some tough shit, but waste the rest of your time being butt-hurt.
Its another layer of the hypocrisy that is Trump.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (8/19/2020 12:39:29 AM)

I take issue with the concept that Donald Trump displays sensitivity to issues.

The what he feels and portrays as sensitivity is one directional, and self centered.

His need for power and worship is indeed, unprecedented.

It is a disgrace that this man and his agenda of destruction, deregulation and divisiveness, racism and misogynistic, psychotic behavior and narcissism, Irresponsibility and cowardice, is the current flow and definition of American Democracy.

It is not a democracy Trump seeks.

It is a hegemony of elitist, rich, power brokers, using the minions of unquestioned loyalty, who believe... and devote their assets to lies and red herring.
Trump uses money and media and social platforms to appeal to fear, anger, greed, and racism, to push the buttons of those who can not even admit to themselves, that they enable the inhumanity of of a agenda based on “take”.

Take money, take power, take control, take back all the thing that we’re given to others out of compassion and caring, put a price on it, THEN sell it back, for gain.

Political gain, monetary gain, brownie points, dog whistles, wealth skimming, corruption, even death and civil depravity, to rationalize an agenda of consolidating control and suppressing any other point of view that might be in any way disadvantageous to the root agenda, from being discussed or acted upon.

Take.

There are measured and realistic and rational conservative people out there.

But they do not wish to appear as moderates, because compromise is treason to the party and der Führer.

Who advocates strongly for federal troops to take back control?

Who denies other experts and belittles and attacks those who try to maintain a moderate and responsible leadership?

Who deliberately throws gasoline onto brush fires of unrest, simply because he is too insulated and aloof to care about the heat or collateral damage to our constitutional rights?

Who suggests he will not honor, nor acknowledge, the result of a referendum of the people’s will... people and institutions and ideals he is SWORN to uphold?

Who believes in willing away, by Easter, by the Fourth of July, by the start of the school year, by Labor Day, by Election Day, by doing nothing and “ opening up businesses and states to free travel and commerce, that the death toll from an insidious killing disease is “ worth the short term cost, as long as people vote for me?

170,000 and growing....blood on the hands of the guy who can’t even be bothered to be briefed about topics he finds boring.

In the beginning of this, pandemic, people would say “ more people die from a car accident, smoking, this or that.

More Than the ‘hoax Virus’ will kill...if I get it I get it....”...until they do.

Then, it’s all about...” doooooooo something.....”, have the government throw buckets and bails of money and rolls of paper towels at this, immediately!!”

And big Pharma and Trump say... show me the money!! Yea, baby,

American citizens in Puerto Rico, other places, schools and churches, have direct witness to failures, lies, manipulations, dismissals, denigration, insults, callous minded indifference, and worse.

Donald Trump loves corona virus for the fear factor alone.

It is custom made as an excuse to use executive authority in attempt to circumvent basic constitutional laws and rights.

Indefensible.

Approaching 190k deaths from the Coronavirus. That is some kind of hoax.

TJSweens -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (8/31/2020 11:10:53 AM)

My 18 year old grand nephew is now in the hospital for covid. Young and healthy. No pre-existing conditions. In fact he was at Marine basic training when he became infected.

I'll come out of exile for this one. My prayers are with you and your Grand Nephew. I'll spread the word. Is it OK for me to have a name? I'm not even sure about your name. Is it Tim Sweeney?

TJSweens -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (8/31/2020 12:05:21 PM)

I appreciate that. You have my name correct. I don't how my nephew and his wife would feel about me giving out their son's name right now, so I won't provide it at this time. I will pass along your good wishes.

I am so sorry to hear that! Kind of puts all this political BS that divides us in its rightful place of low importance.

Best wishes and prayers for his recovery!

Brad H -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (9/1/2020 10:34:48 AM)

Over 260 new cases in about 10 states traced back to the Sturgis Rally. Six days ago it was about 100 people. Over 100 in South Dakota alone.

Cases rising in Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and North Dakota.

Hope they had fun on their bikes. For some, it will be the last ride they ever have.

Lynn G. -> RE: Covid 19 and those infected (9/1/2020 12:22:23 PM)

Mark - they're not immune, but they at least are mostly wearing masks. After the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis there was no appreciable rise in Covid cases.
