Today, wow. On the extreme, could a team do well with four 6' 7" 3 & D wings and a big to prevent a massacre inside?

Kind of feels like what the Budenholzer Hawks tried to do the year they had Dwight. They had a ton of 6'6-6'9 guys during his stint as HC.

Back in the day, the best proverbially constructed team for its era was the circa 77 Trailblazers. The 76 Hoosiers were close except Bobby Wilkerson wasn't a shooting guard but more of a modern wing. The Magic-era Lakers if you excuse his height. A couple of the UNC champions later had some of that plus a key frosh 6th man. In their first game as freshmen, you could see McCants, Sean May, and Felton were going to be incredible, and Marvin Williams was the fantastic freshman. In 2009, Lawson and Ellington paired with Danny Green and Hansbrough with FR Ed Davis off the bench. Mixed bag at the other forward spot.

Enough random musings.

Reminds me of the Kendall Gill Illinois team...1988-89
Gill 6'4"
Bardo 6'6"
Nick Anderson 6'6"
Kenny Battle 6'5"
Lowell Hamilton 6'7"

Bucks get shafted by the refs in a pivotal game 5.

Durant goes off in the 2nd half but he gets every call and many are extremely ticky tacky some when there isn't even contact.

Kendall Gill has the nastiest college dunk I ever saw. A hard rebound that Gill collects as he's flying in with one hand behind his head about 10 feet away from the basket. He just swings has arm and throws down a thunderous dunk. It happened in the blink of an eye.

The only interesting series just got a lot less interesting.

Shams Charania@ShamsCharania
Phoenix Suns All-NBA guard Chris Paul has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocols and is sidelined for an indefinite period of time, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Brian Windhorst@WindhorstESPN
Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss Game 5 against the Jazz tonight with a knee injury suffered in game 4, sources tell @ramonashelburne & me. His status for rest of series is in doubt as well.

Leonard told teammates last night to prepare for him to be out.

He landed awkwardly on a drive in the fourth quarter and grimaced in pain Monday night. He briefly stayed in game but didn’t finish as the Clippers secured the win to even series 2-2.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/16/2021 10:04:09 PM)

Hawks outscore the Sixers 40-19 in the 4th for the comeback win.

Now up 3-2.

Wow. I was watching but fell asleep. Hawks are a scrappy bunch. Always thought Simmons was the best passer in the league until I watched Trae Young play.

Rivers has now presided over five of the eight largest blown leads in the past two postseasons.

He needs to go Costanza and do the exact opposite of what he thinks he should.

Wow. Cuban is really letting Voulgaris destroy his team.

He's now alienated Luka, Carlisle and Donnie Nelson.

Adrian Wojnarowski@wojespn
Rick Carlisle -- who led Dallas to the 2011 NBA championship -- informed Mavericks owner Mark Cuban today that he won't be returning as coach next season, Carlisle told ESPN. Carlisle had two years left on his contract. He spent 13 seasons as Mavericks coach.

Inside the Mavericks front office, Mark Cuban’s shadow GM is causing a rift with Luka Doncic

Holy cow. Now Voulgaris is out!

Cuban must be doing everything he can to salvage the Luka relationship.

Michael Mulford@TheMulf
Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer just said on Spotify Greenroom that he’s heard that Haralabob Voulgaris is also out in Dallas

Bill Jandro -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/20/2021 7:34:57 AM)

What a game 7 last night. Officiating was actually pretty fair.

Loving this seasons playoffs when it's wide open like this.

Bill Jandro -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/20/2021 10:21:04 AM)

Never been a big fan of Durant (ring chasing with GS) but boy is he good.

Noticed him hugging each Buck player after the game congratulating them while Harden was no where to be seen.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/20/2021 11:01:19 AM)

I thought the Nets would have taken it all. Even with 1.5 left of the Big 3 they pushed the Bucks to the extreme. Durant was gassed in OT and nobody else made a shot. No tears for the Nets and what Durant did in the 4th to keep them in it when the entire arena knew he was going to be the guy to shoot was pretty amazing. They will be in the upper reaches of the luxury tax atmosphere.

Holiday kept shooting in the 4th after a horrid game and knocked them down.

Holiday's shooting was just dreadful for 3 qtrs. At one point he missed a simple layup. But his defense was good and he still doled out some assists.

I prefer Harden's attitude. They're the enemy.

Love Philly and Brooklyn losing.

This has been a really fun postseason.

I never understood that complaint about Durant. OKC vs GS? For the team, for the city, for his career, for everything, it was a no brainier. I would have done exactly the same thing. Languish in Oklahoma his whole career out of some notion of loyalty? No thanks.

Players like Ant and Towns will come to the same conclusion eventually if things don’t change here. And I won’t blame them one bit either. Zac Levine’s quote when the Wolves drafted him was spot on. “F**k me”.

Steve Lentz -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/21/2021 10:53:05 AM)

Lakers, Nets, Philly all out?
Never saw that coming.

paulgly -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/21/2021 2:00:01 PM)

Would anyone take a chance on max contract Ben Simmons, knowing the trade cost to acquire may not be nearly as steep as it would have been a few months ago? Or is he just broken?

Personally, I'd be pretty tempted to do it if they Sixers would take DLo back. It's a little terrifying, but he doesn't necessarily even need to be a great shooter to be a great fit on the Wolves. If he remembers to drive/finish, and is semi-respectable at the line, his defense and playmaking could cover up a lot of current shortcomings. It's a little terrifying though because he could be broken, and playoff Ben Simmons-bad this year would be a killer on that contract.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/21/2021 2:09:19 PM)

Two Ben's with the lowest FT% in the playoffs - Simmons and Wallace.

DLo has 'just' two years left on his contract. Simmons has four more years. Right now he has to have the worst contract in the league! But there will always be egotistical GMs and coaches who think they can rebuild him.

Although Tobias Harris may have something to say about bad contracts....

Yes if that was the 'real' Ben, hard pass. He's definitely way in his own head now. His pass away from the open dunk was astonishgly bad. In a so bad, it's almost impressive kind of way.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving fanbase though.

Simmons looks broken. He simply cannot put the ball in the hole.

Rest of his game is good but at this point I think I'd pass.

If we could trade DLo or Beasley/Rubio I'd do it.

I think Ben might be undervalued at the moment. He's still really good - and I think he could excel under Finch.

I'm not giving up draft picks.
