I like Bane, but I don't think you're getting where you want clearing the cupboard for him.

Elliot -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/18/2025 4:04:02 PM)

Never would have thought the Buss family would part with the Lakers.

Bill Jandro -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/20/2025 8:06:20 AM)

Ever since TC gave up 5 frp's for Gobert it has become normal business procedure for other role players as well.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/22/2025 12:02:23 PM)

Shams:

BREAKING: The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/22/2025 12:32:21 PM)

Its amazing how little they gave up.

Green and Brooks were likely guys they wanted to get off of their contracts. Green just isn't good and Brooks is too much of a knucklehead for what he provides.

So they basically gave up the #10 in a mediocre draft and they kept all the youth they really wanted.

Suns still don't have a Center of Point Guard.

Steve Lentz -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/23/2025 11:20:22 AM)

Series was a bit tougher than I thought it would be, but SGA got his Championship and of course the MVP!!

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (6/23/2025 11:40:40 AM)

Worst MVP in years. Voter fatigue is the only reason Jokic didn't take it.

Agree. He’s a good player but not an MVP. I probably don’t dislike him as much as most non-OKC fans. His style isn’t aesthetically pleasing but he’s hardly the first superstar to hunt cheap foul calls.

He’s good, when he’s on he can be unstoppable at times. Top 15-ish player But not an MVP.

OKC led by SGA is going to be a PROBLEM for a few years.

Might be.

They have 1 more year before they have to pay Chet and Williams. And OKC has never been a team to overspend. They have a lot of draft picks, so they're going to have to hit on more studs to replace the guys they lose.

They're very good, but they got pushed to 7 by a mediocre Denver team and then by a good Indy team with just one actual star (who they lost for most of Game 7).

IMO there is a lot of parity at the top of the NBA. We haven't seen back to back champions in quite a few years. Doesn't change my opinion of OKC led by SGA being in the top mix for a few years. I'm not an OKC fan, but do believe SGA is one of the top 3 players in the NBA and we have not seen his best yet.

Are thery going to invent a rule that no one can get within 6 feet of him? Maybe make his FTs worth 2 points each?

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2025 12:09:32 PM)

Rockets just became the deepest team in the league:

PG: Fred VanVleet, Aaron Holiday
SG: Amen Thompson, Reed Sheppard, Cam Whitmore
SF: Tari Eason, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jae'Sean Tate
PF: Kevin Durant, Jabari Smith Jr., Jeff Green
C: Alperen Sengun, Clint Capela, Steven Adams, Jock Landale

And the dismantling of the "OKC Dynasty" has begun:

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed to a four-year, $285 million super maximum contract extension with the champion Oklahoma City Thunder through the 2030-31 season, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

71M AAV.

Denver has made some moves that gives them a much more complete team.

As always, you have no idea what you're talking about.

You're like my old college roommate. You know a little bit about a lot of things...just enough to be dangerous.

And you you know very little about most things, but think you do.

You're out of your league on this one.

Knicks hiring Mike Brown. I dunno. He seems like the quintessential coach for comparative purposes, if WAR were a basketball coaching stat.

Are they trading for LeBron? Because he's responsible for Brown's best years by a longshot.

According to many delusional Knicks fans, they're acquiring LeBron for a second round pick and a pair of Walt-Clyde's platform shoes.

Dynasties are going to be very difficult under the new CBA.

quote:

OKC has this year's window and then they will have to let go of one star player like Chet or 2-3 key players like Dort/Hartestine/Caruso.

Williams will get the super max (starting around $45M), and assumw Chet gets the discounted max (starting around $40M) next year (unless he makes an All-Defense team, then change it to 45M). I don’t think any of them will offer a discount after their leader just signed the highest super max in history so far.

OKC will have $245M (not including Deing QO hold) assigned to 12-13 players next year. And that’s even before SGA's super-duper max kicks in the following year (starting at $63M). They’re lucky that SGA is under paid this year and next at $38 & $40M.

The 2nd Apron will be around $217M next year. I think OKC will trade Chet for picks and a low salary player and keep the team depth. That’s probably why they drafted Sorber, to replace Chet.

Memphis already took this path, dealing Bane (to many people's surprise), because they felt they couldn't field a competitive team with 3 max players in JJJ, Morant and Bane.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/5/2025 6:26:43 PM)

I like the Ayton signing. It's not going to propel the Lakers to the top of the league, but he has some game. I think Lebron's presence will motivate him a bit. Luka has reportedly lost weight... that could be Lebron's influence or a reality check from basically being shown the door in Dallas.

Some guys though will just be who they are regardless.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (8/2/2025 3:30:32 PM)

Fat Luka is no more.

My goodness.
