ORIGINAL: Bill Johanesen Lakers trade Green and #28 for Schroeder. Thoughts? Not sure. Never been a Schröder fan. Doesn't play much defense, is just an OK passer and turns it over too much, and has always been a poor shooter that gets his points by taking a ton of shots. But somehow he shot WAY over his head last year. 47% overall and 39% from 3 on 5/game. That's nuts for a guy who was a career 43/32 shooter and only hit better than 34% of his 3s one time previously (all way back in 2014). If the shooting is real and not an outlier, he could help. But if he regresses to a guy who scores 13 points on 12 FGAs, he won't help at all. That said, Danny Green looked surprisingly cooked last year. Thanks for the rundown. I read about his shooting % spike. Danny Green, all he does is win championships even when he plays like he's 40 years old. This is a home run for Lakers. Green is nearing the end. Having said that. Lakers need to find some more consistent 3 point shooters. Its absolutely a home run if you get 2019-20 Schröder. Its absolutely not if you get 2013-18 Schröder. Definitely need a lot more 3 point shooting. If you lose Green, KCP and Bradley, that's your 3 best shooters from last year. But I'm sure there will be at least a few snipers looking for a ring that will join up cheap. One thing I like about Schröder is he is aggressive, he attacks the rim. Dude is fast too. KCP & Bradley, not so much. I don't even try to figure out NBA salary cap rules but what the Lakers are doing doesn't even seem fair. Harrell in, Howard out Mathews in, Green out Schroeder in, Rondo out All major upgrades. and Re-sign KCP for 13M per I liked Howard, but also like the Clippers losing Harrell. Edit - I see the Clippers signed Ibaka. Vet min types from here on out. They have brought in offensive firepower and energy but lost defense and veteran savvy. Oh wait. Marc Gasol. Probably more for vet min with McGee trade. And a bit of defense and vet savvy. Well done.
