The timing was pretty close, so I wonder if GS knew about Klay's injury before picking. Ball was available. Maybe a trade for a G but again not sure if they had time to work a deal. Or just a case of them being sold on Wiseman. Would be interesting to know their thought process. Edit: looks like they knew of an injury but not the extent: As he drove toward his home in San Francisco, Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers received yet another phone call. For once, the caller was not an opposing team’s executive pitching a trade proposal for the Warriors’ No. 2 pick of the NBA draft. It was Klay Thompson, who had informed Myers he injured his right leg on Wednesday while playing a pickup game in Los Angeles. "It was hard to disengage mentally from it, but we had a lot of other stuff going on in terms of the draft and potential trades," Myers said. "So I couldn’t let my mind go all the way there." The tactic worked at least for a few hours. The Warriors have no idea how severe Thompson hurt his right leg nearly 17 months after injuring his left ACL in a decisive Game 6 loss to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals, which kept him sidelined all of last season. They will know more on Thursday when Thompson has an MRI. Warriors coach Steve Kerr and some of the training staff will travel to LA to see Thompson. And yet, the Warriors refused to allow that dreaded uncertainty to influence their draft process. Practically, no NBA rookie could replace Thompson since he helped the Warriors win three NBA titles and cemented himself as one of the league's best shooters and defenders. Philosophically, the Warriors valued talent over positional need because that will help them adapt with or without Thompson. So the Warriors still selected Memphis center James Wiseman, who impressed them with his rim protection, athleticism and jump-shooting potential. At No. 48, the Warriors then picked Arizona guard Nico Mannion.

The injury happened pretty early in the day - so well before the draft. And even though they didn’t find out for sure about the tear, it sounds like it was expected.

They still have Curry’s tremendous shooting, playmaking and empowering leadership style. They still have Draymond Green’s playmaking, defense and demanding leadership style. They still have a solid wing defender (Andrew Wiggins). Myers added the Warriors “have the green light” to use their $17.2 million trade exception, which he said would likely be used on wing depth regardless of Thompson’s health. Was the exception blown on Oubre?

But I'm sure there will be at least a few snipers looking for a ring that will join up cheap. One thing I like about Schröder is he is aggressive, he attacks the rim. Dude is fast too. KCP & Bradley, not so much.

The Pelicans took a major step toward revamping their defense with the reported acquisition of Steven Adams from the Thunder on Saturday morning. Per ESPN, New Orleans sent George Hill, Darius Miller, Denver’s 2023 protected first rounder, and two future second-rounders to complete the deal Surprised NO can trade Hill after just aquiring him. I thought you couldn't trade a player until mid-season?

Edit - I see the Clippers signed Ibaka. Vet min types from here on out. They have brought in offensive firepower and energy but lost defense and veteran savvy. Oh wait. Marc Gasol. Probably more for vet min with McGee trade. And a bit of defense and vet savvy. Well done.

Never understood why he disappeared I have to admit to being a shitty fan lately of the Wolves, but when he was playing, and when I watched, he was CLEARLY the most-productive and most entertaining guy we had. Saying a lot? No, but we weren't awful, we were competitive, and he was the main reason, in my tainted opinion. You got a playah Kurt. Enjoy him. Hope he stays on the court, if he does, you will love him.

So un-sexy to be a great defender, but what a difference it could make with this team.
