What a wonderful choke job!

Couldn't happen to a more unlikeable team.

I'm not seeing this. Who is unlikeable? Wemby?

The whole manufactured team. They make bad trades and signings and get rewarded with top picks in great drafts. They're all a bunch of floppers and complainers - led by Castle.

Wemby is good for at least one dirty play every game and he's turning into a douche off the court with all his visiting with monks, walking barefoot and other PR stunts. Plus the league is so far up his ass, they had to pass SGA on the way in. He's allowed to goaltend at will on both ends and should've been suspended at least twice so far this postseason.

Even when he threw that super dangerous elbow at Naz and got ejected, somehow the narrative for the next game was "Wemby's redemption".

He's so good, but he absolutely gets gassed and he gets pushed around. Maybe intense conditioning will help with the first, but his frame and high center of gravity will always be a problem fore the second.

Can he "bulk up"? Should he?

Longer limbs put extra torque and stress on joints, ligaments, and tendons - and those things are not proportionally stronger on a bigger guy. And while adding muscle increases strength, any extra weight magnifies these issues.

This dude did an interesting study on height vs injury in NBA players:

quote:

So what does the model tell us? First, each extra inch of height was associated with a 31.4% higher injury hazard. As seen in the graph below, the survival rate for someone like Giannis at 6'11 is much worse than the baseline, and the opposite is true for a 6'3 player like Stephen Curry.

So what is the answer?

Is bulking up so he can play high 30s, low 40s as needed at the risk of a shorter career the way to go? Or is he a 28-32 MPG player that goes all out when he's in the game?

Okay. I see your points.

The tanking for Duncan and Wemby was horrible and Wemby deserved a one game suspension for elbowing Reid.

So...

The only game the Knicks lost in the last two months was cursed by the Orange.

It sucks that the NBA doesn't let the Zebras officiate a game to the letter. Wemby committed flagrants that would have resulted in a suspension but the league is too worried about a ratings crash. They solely operate based on the almighty dollar.

The NBA needs more Ben Wallace and Rick Mahorn types for his punk ass.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2026 11:43:06 AM)

Lakers are busy!

The Los Angeles Lakers are acquiring Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz for unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030, sources tell ESPN. Kessler will sign a massive four-year, $130 million deal with the Lakers.

Free agent Collin Sexton has agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN.

Free agent F/C Sandro Mamukelashvili has agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal to sign with Los Angeles Lakers, with a player option for the fourth season, sources tell ESPN.

Free agent guard Quentin Grimes has agreed to a four-year, $60 million to join the Los Angeles Lakers, with a player option, sources tell ESPN.

Ayton picked up his option for the coming season.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2026 11:48:41 AM)

Lakers Lost: Lebron, Smart, Kennard, Rui (probably), 2 unprotected 1st Rounders, 2 swaps

Lakers Added: Kessler, Grimes, Sexton, Mamu

They're going to score and give up points like Paul Westhead's run-and-gun Nuggets.

They may be forced to play Vando and Bronny just to try to get stops.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2026 1:17:43 PM)

Rui was LA's equivalent of Leroy Hoard. You want 20 pts, I'll get you 12. You want 6 points, I'll get you 12.

I like the depth, although there is a lack of talent at forward. Gotta live with Reaves, but Doncic likely signed off on it.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2026 1:36:41 PM)

I think the Lakers will be a really dangerous regular season team and an easy out in the Playoffs.

They won't be able to stop anyone.

Yeah.

A top 3 and D guy would work but the entire league wants those and there are no picks to trade. I'd trade Reaves for one.

They'll probably be a 4-6 seed just by feasting on bad defenses and teams that aren't locked in. But that will all change when the Playoffs start.

Even keeping Smart instead of signing Grimes would've helped some.

Does anyone outside of Kessler in the regular rotation play a lick of defense?

And Kessler is a very good shotblocker, but he's not a particularly versatile defender.

Even Gobert struggled on those Utah teams that had no perimeter defenders.

Word is Smart wanted to go to Houston.

Seems like Pelinka saw Lebron's intentions go public and went into a panic. Or maybe decided to essentially lock him out!

And being on the Fab 5 team, he's wired to think a great O beats a great D. Until it doesn't.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (7/1/2026 8:47:08 PM)

LOL, F- for the Celtics tossing Jaylen Brown for the aged scrub Kirk Cousins of the NBA, Paul George!

And Grimes has some positive defensive metrics. Some hope.

Trump's DOJ and SEC is investigating Mark Walters and now Walters has sold his team to Ivanka Trump's brother in law.

Nothing to see here.

Or is it legit that the DOJ and SEC are investigating him over sham party loans which are Madoff like?
