The sixth NBA game in the season’s first 23 days — Utah at Washington on Wednesday — has been postponed:

NBA season is long, playoff caliber teams will be obvious.

Just cancel some games and go by win percentage. The bottom seeds have very little chance of advancing. By the time the playoffs start the vaccine will be available to anybody that wants it.

Last year you can't tell me the Heat upset the Bucks with fans in the stands. Unless you think the Bucks drop the first two at home in a packed arena.

NBA IMO has a bigger problem, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Couple of team cancers that don't want to play. Fully guaranteed contracts in the NBA brings out the worst in many players.

Maybe why Kyrie is pouting:

HMM...wouldn't you rather have LeVert....money didn't work? Who knows if Oladipo can stay healthy.

I see Levert is signed for 3 more years....Oladipo is a UFA after this year. Salary dump?

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/13/2021 3:24:46 PM)

Brooklyn is giving up LaVert, Allen, Prince, FOUR 1st round picks and FOUR pick swaps.

G SUS.

LeVert is a nice glue guy, but his legs and feet are made of tissue paper.

Although a lot can change between now and 2025/27, I presume at least the 2021/23 pick swaps won't happen?

Probably.

Those would be the worst case scenario swaps for Brooklyn. Kyrie implodes, Durant reinjures his leg, Harden weighs 450 pounds...

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/13/2021 6:45:06 PM)

Wow...

Reminder: James Harden AND Kevin Durant AND Kyrie Irving have player options on the final year of their contracts, which means all 3 players can become unrestricted free agents after next season.

This seems important considering the Nets traded away all their first-round picks

JT2 -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/14/2021 11:39:58 PM)

Good thing I'm not in charge of the Brooklyn Nets. I would have pursued Beal rather than Harden, and find a way to keep Allen out of the deal.

JT2 -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/15/2021 11:59:40 PM)

I really don't have a favorite team (thanks Wolves) but I love the game. However, I hope the Rockets do well and I wouldn't shed a tear if the Nets suck.

Harden and Irving are amazing talents. They make me appreciate James so much more.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/16/2021 3:18:49 PM)

It’s not just his and James’ minutes that have gone down, however. According to NBA.com’s tracking data, the Lakers already move at a slower average speed (4.05 miles per hour) than any team in the league, other than the Houston Rockets (3.99). During their last four wins, however, the Lakers’ advantages led to them having to scramble around even less, decelerating their average movement speed to an NBA-low 4.01 miles per hour over that stretch, slower than even the Rockets’ team they just blew out twice (4.02).

For context on just how much they’ve decelerated despite adding one of the speediest players in the NBA in Dennis Schröder and keeping their resident speedster Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, last year the Lakers moved at an average speed of 4.09 mph.

That may not sound like a lot, but every little bit of energy not expended helps as the Lakers try to manage their workload during a season turnaround unlike any other. If they take care of teams early, they won’t have to exert themselves as hard late, saving wear and tear both on and off the floor.

JT2 -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/20/2021 10:30:57 PM)

Vogel has a real good handle on the big picture.

I think Williams is doing similar things with his team, and I'm impressed.

JT2 -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/20/2021 10:35:04 PM)

Last night, in a loss to Utah, Zion Williamson made his first FG outside of the paint this season.

Good side, he knows his game.
Downside, he needs a shot outside of six feet.

Who looked older at 22 years old, Deandre Ayton or Greg Oden?

Good call.

Blazers have a history of drafting those old young guys. Hell, you can add Drexler to the list.

Has anyone ever looked older in college than a disappointed Melvin Newbern? Shots of him after a call against him often looked like a Social Security recipient being told he's been waiting in the wrong line.

JT2 -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/29/2021 10:26:05 PM)

Two of my favorite underrated (undrafted) players in the league playing tonight in the late game, O'Neale and Finney-Smith.

Exceptional defenders. Not the fake defender label we give to players with no offensive game, real deal defenders. They know their game and they're very good at it.

David Levine -> RE: NBA Talk 2020 (1/31/2021 3:23:44 PM)

Ball with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals, 1 turnover as they beat the Bucks last night.

8/10, 2/3, 9/9 shooting.
