My bad. I can't keep my Lance's and my Lawrences straight. FWIW, that PFF mock draft simulator insists that Mac Brown will be there when the Vikings draft.

And if he is we should take him.

Can we all agree if the Oline sucks this season Speilman should be fired?

Nope. I was the first to declare that the O Line sucks back in the last year Peterson won the rushing title. It has been the same or gotten worse since, but I don't think that means we should fire Spielman.

How many decades does they guy get?

IMO it's pathetic to have as long a tenure as Speilman has and not have a lot more playoff success.

He has had his chance to build the team, a couple of times.

If Spielman was just a cunningly smart Machiavellian bastard ...

I could sit anxiously through the draft with some confidence in a larger scheme coming together.

As it is, Spiels has shown no urgency in planning or building a solid OLine.

He has bumped up his game to atleast one OL in the first three rds of the last four drafts BUT he has never drafted two OL in the first three rounds. Never.

Coming away with one of the following players is my expectation. Two would be a very pleasant surprise. Even the last two on the lists, Little and Banks.

Three? I'd be stunned. Kneeling with hands clasped in religious ecstasy. Cousins-like before games, meals and choosing shampoos.

Penei Sewell
Rashawn Slater
Christian Darisaw
Teven Jenkins
Sam Cosmi
Jalen Mayfield
Alex Leatherwood
Liam Eichenberg
Dillon Radunz
Spencer Brown
Walker Little

Alijah Vera-Tucker
Wyatt Davis
Creed Humphrey C/G
Landon Dickerson C/G
Jackson Carman
Trey Smith
Deonte Brown
Ben Cleveland
Kendrick Green
Aaron Banks

+1

Cleveland to LT and two from the guard list. Get a couple of guards like those Tampa Bay dudes who kept looking over at the KC defense in the SB and chuckled.

Cleveland / Vera-Tucker / Bradbury / Trey Smith / O'Neill

Are you predicting that because its a good or a bad thing?

Or because you are desperate to win the draft challenge and add it to your resume?

More or less a prediction based on what has to be done. With Spielman, who knows.

Second question, take your pseudo-snark to the draft challenge thread but of course I'm desperate to win it, two time winner, life affirming, $50 VISA card, top of the resume!

Second question: ok.

I was kidding!

Ah ... I know a lot of people lie on their resume about winning the draft challenge ...

I thought maybe I had compromised a Linkedin profile or something.

There is only one reason to fire a good GM and good Coach...if you think you have a great one. You give them both one more year.

He's done as good or better than most in the draft and free agency. Shouldn't be fired just because you are unhappy.

The Two Guard Solution

With Cleveland to LT / draft two Guards BEFORE the 4th Round gaining in popularity here (), I thought I would organize it, if only for myself.

NOT ELIGIBLE
OTs that rolled their eyes and let out big sighs before answering 'yes' to pre-draft interviews about moving to Guard (i.e., not interested) – Sewell, Slater, Darrisaw, Jenkins, Cosmi, Forsythe, Eichenberg

ELIGIBLE
First Round
Alijah Vera-Tucker (Not tall but he has the unusual combo of being very athletic and having a great anchor so 1st rd grade at both T and G)

Second Round
Dillon Radunz (Diminutive 6'4 LT has good snap, strength and toughness; can strike on the move)
Alex Leatherwood (Championship pedigree; could be more aggressive but, otherwise, 'can discombobulate rush plans')
Landon Dickinson (Severe injury concerns but big impact AT G/C otherwise)

Third Round
Ben Cleveland (Big ultra-powerful pure-guard mauler; went on squirrel diet before his pro day and shocked with his athleticism)
Jackson Carman (Big LT with pop and agility who has trouble with speed outside; alert eyes for exotic defensive crap)
Kendrick Green (Microscopic 6'2 center /guard with explosive get-off; impressive zone blocking skills)
Jalen Mayfield (Good size, athletic and tough; real lack of experience and needs to get stronger)

For my money, any two from this list will give optimism. AVT and Cleveland would give me the most optimism.
The negatives for these players are overshadowed by their strengths)

I've noticed people having Jamin Davis selected in the 6th round or later, but I just saw the Vegas odds are that he will be picked in the first round. Something is very wrong here.

Wrong. I was the first. No question about it. Peterson was winning the Rushing Title and I still said they sucked. I may have even said they sucked the year before that. I was declaring the OL at that time the worst in Vikings history. I am also the person who for as long as I've been watching NFL Football back in 1970 who said OL is the most important position.

Sure some people may have complained, but not to the extent that I did. Prior to that time you could always count on good OL play from the Vikings.
I was fully on record about the OL being horrendous. At that time I was a voice crying out in the wilderness. Nobody was on board with me.
Peterson had just won the rushing title. People said they were an OK to even good run blocking line. They weren't. Peterson did it all on his own.

They just couldn't believe it. The Vikings had always had good O Line play and Peterson just won the rushing title. I on the other hand saw Peterson was relatively doing it all on his own. Defenders were on him as he was getting handed the ball, but back then Peterson was that good that he could still put up big games despite the lack of blocking he got.

kgdabom -> RE: NFL Draft 2021 (4/28/2021 2:30:01 PM)

I might get strung up for this one, but IMO the value was too good to pass up. I traded 14 and 78 and got 89 in this year's draft and two FRPs and two SRPs in next years. Delayed gratification similar to what the Cowboys got for Trading Herschel Walker.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: NFL Draft 2021 (4/28/2021 2:30:08 PM)

About what time should we be picking tomorrow? Picking in the 19-25 range puts it pretty late [;)]

That would be a fun draft challenge question for next year.
