TC leads to a lot of speculation exactly opposite to what coaches are seeing ...

But right now it looks like Hill Cleveland Bradbury Udoh O'Neil to start game 1.

LT - Down Arrow from Reiff: at least Hill is serviceable/decent ... not sure long term but I don't mind opening with him (this also gives former shoe-in now Plan B Darrisaw time to get healthy and acclimate).

LG - Up arrow from Dozier: at least Cleveland is still viewed by the braintrust as starter material (somewhere). Just okay as a rookie on the right side, at least brings a lot more to the table than Dozey.

C - Same as in no bueno: Bradbury might improve, or not. Interesting that Davis got a little practice at C (just in case Udoh takes RG?)

RG - Up arrow from Cleveland: If you you are going to misplace OTs at G, at least Udoh has the size and strength to mix it up in there, and a couple of developmental offseasons under his belt.

RT - Same as in good: Give O'Neil a contract and be thankful they haven't created a third G spot for him.

So the up arrows are based on Cleveland > Dozier and Udoh > Cleveland.

HMmMMm.

I think its a fair bet that Cleveland will be better over all than Dozier. Yes a projection based on hope.

I think its a wild-ass guess that Udoh will be better at RG than Cleveland last year. Yes a projection based on shifting away from vaccine talk in this thread.

Here's an interesting series of 3 posts from my other favorite Vikings site.

How about Thielen and Harrison? They refuse to get the vaccine too

Nobody has a beef with them so what they did is OK. Some hate Cousins so he's not a team player which is a bunch of garbage. He plays behind a garbage OL and has never #### about them. R Wilson who basically shut it down last year and is a team player blamed his OL publicly. His OL is great compared to what Cousins plays behind. When Wilson threw the pick 6 in the playoffs last year there was no pressure. He didn't read the coverage and was baited and threw the gofer up. That's a team player to some. Or they will #### about Cousins salary. He was offered what he signed. If they cut him right now teams would be lining up. But he's not a team guy because he makes big money. Hunter was threatening to sit because he didn't like the deal he just signed. But that's a team first guy. That's a dirt ball and don't care about the team. They should have told him to pound salt you signed the deal. I saw an interview with Aikman and he said his OL was great and that's what a great team does. They put a great line in front of the QB. The Chiefs did the same for Mahomes. They didn't draft a few nothings they went out and got proven top flight NFL players. We could have done that also but our GM ignores our OL. Mond is the guy that had covid. He didn't follow the protocals. He never will. Send him down the road now. That's not a team guy and provides nothing for our season. But some will say it wasn't his fault. That's BS.

You make a great point about Cousins getting all the flak/hate yet 36% of the Vikings aren't vaccinated and we barely hear a peep about the others. Also I hear all the players hate Cousins so they aren't following him in not getting vaxed.

Other than the question post, the other 2 posts don't seem to be well thought out.

1) While Cousins is getting the majority of the flak, Harrison and Thielen are taking plenty of flak, and their heretofore impeccable reputations have taken signicant hits.

2) "Also I hear all the players hate Cousins so they aren't following him in not getting vaxed."

Huh?

1: Harrison and Thielen are probably getting 5% or less flak as Cousins.

ratoppenheimer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/9/2021 3:52:33 AM)

.
.
spielman brought in too many new, but injured, players to fill primary positions....

cleveland - vera-tucker - bradbury - udoh/2nd tier vet - o'neill...all healthy...also, still could have picked up wyatt davis = too easy

darrisaw - injured
davis - injured
westbrook - injured

spielman/we are lucky that so many young receivers seem to be playing well during training camp....

if we're really all in for this season we need to pick up a 2nd string quarterback = smith, griffith, bortles....

also, we need fitzgerald....

i think we can live with the DE's we've already got on the roster....

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/9/2021 7:05:41 AM)

Rashad Hill has been ok in relief but has never fared very well when he's had to start multiple games in a row.

As stated above the oline has way too many question marks on it. Typical poorly constructed Spielman special.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/9/2021 9:11:02 AM)

Personally, I think the reassignment of Dennison, will marginally improve our offensive line,
The bigger issue is the head coaching inflexibility to adapt scheme and play calling to the variety of situational needs, in real time.

OL Rauscher, OC Kubiak, QB Janocko, WR McCardell are all new to their position on this team. That's a lot of coalescing that needs to happen to help squeeze the same type of production as last year's offense, out of this years team.

A well written piece of sarcasm on that subject would have read more like "With Kirk as our beloved team leader, the other players are following him by not getting vaxed."

Ok, I'll bend a bit. Dumb guy sarcasm.

thebigo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/9/2021 12:32:50 PM)

The last couple seasons, considering our numbers/quality at OT, I was hoping the team would try Udoh out at guard, where IMO he is well suited (moreso than Cleveland IMO), and we were severely lacking in quality. This year, with Darrisaw hampered, our OT numbers are way down, I mean what do we have after Oneill and Hill? Go figure.

Is it just me or does it seem like RG is between Udoh and Dozier already?

Haven’t heard much about Davis other than he got dinged up a bit and got tried at a couple of positions.

As a third round pick, I wouldn't expect him to start this year. And the Vikes rarely start even good rookies the first few games (e.g., Diggs, Jefferson, O'Neill).

FWIW, Zim suggested that Udoh is the starting RG, although he implied that wasn't set in stone.
