TC leads to a lot of speculation exactly opposite to what coaches are seeing ...

But right now it looks like Hill Cleveland Bradbury Udoh O'Neil to start game 1.

LT - Down Arrow from Reiff: at least Hill is serviceable/decent ... not sure long term but I don't mind opening with him (this also gives former shoe-in now Plan B Darrisaw time to get healthy and acclimate).

LG - Up arrow from Dozier: at least Cleveland is still viewed by the braintrust as starter material (somewhere). Just okay as a rookie on the right side, at least brings a lot more to the table than Dozey.

C - Same as in no bueno: Bradbury might improve, or not. Interesting that Davis got a little practice at C (just in case Udoh takes RG?)

RG - Up arrow from Cleveland: If you you are going to misplace OTs at G, at least Udoh has the size and strength to mix it up in there, and a couple of developmental offseasons under his belt.

RT - Same as in good: Give O'Neil a contract and be thankful they haven't created a third G spot for him.

So the up arrows are based on Cleveland > Dozier and Udoh > Cleveland.

HMmMMm.

I think its a fair bet that Cleveland will be better over all than Dozier. Yes a projection based on hope.

I think its a wild-ass guess that Udoh will be better at RG than Cleveland last year. Yes a projection based on shifting away from vaccine talk in this thread.

2021 Cleveland LG + Udoh RG > 2020 Cleveland RG + Dozier LG is likely.

Yes, I think so. I got lost in the weeds. Thanks for stating it clearly.

Cleveland at LG > Dozier LG is probable for a number of reasons
1. He was flat out a better G than Dozier last year.
2. Cleveland said in a Pioneer Press interview that the transition from left to right side was more difficult than the switch from T to G. It's reasonable to assume a return to the left side will benefit him.
3. Cleveland has supposedly spent the off season building his size and strength, which was his biggest challenge in playing guard last year.

As far as Udoh, if he beats Dozier out for the job, it's safe to assume he is an upgrade over Dozier.

Only if you super-impose logic on the OL. Which is ambitious on your part.

Poor starting experience on a different team and an anchor-less string-bean body type are just two attributes that beat out quality of play for our starting positions.

Hey, Lamar Jackson is worse than Kirk!!!!

Heard a sound bite on radio with him saying "I need to get more information and talk to doctors".

What a load of shit, get the damn shot. The math of the positives far outweigh the math on the negatives.

Truly amazes me. LOOK AT THE MATH !!!!

The only "new info" excuse left is "I'm waiting for FDA approval," which is mega dubious because approval is a mere formality with the EUA in place and because most of these mofos hate the government and its institutions as a foundational premise. But it gives plausible deniability to many who will probably never get vaccinated.

What new information is going to come out?

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/10/2021 8:58:05 PM)

Well at least the worst our O-line will be in 2021 is 31st. Take a look at the Falcons current depth chart for their O-line. Yikes! Yep - that's a Willie Beavers sighting penciled in as starter at RT.

LT: Jake Matthews, Jason Spriggs, William Sweet, Kion Smith

LG: Josh Andrews, Sam Jones, Ryan Neuzil

C: Matt Hennessy, Drew Dalman, Joe Sculthorpe

RG: Chris Lindstrom, Willie Wright, Bryce Hargrove

RT: Willie Beavers, Kaleb McGary, Jalen Mayfield

Pretty sure MvGrary is their starting RT. Nonetheless surprised to see Beavers is still on a roster.

TJSweens -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/11/2021 12:19:54 PM)

The first depth chart is out. Notable positions include Oli Udoh as the #1 RG and K.J. Osborne as the #3 WR.

Yes ... completely meaningless but an interesting first glance

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2021/8/10/22619286/minnesota-vikings-release-first-unofficial-depth-chart-2021

Kellen-19 Mond is 4th QB
Beebe (our new Sherels) and Osborn in front of ISM and injury Westbrook
Davis is third string RG (behind Dozier ouch)
Weatherly in front of Wonnum
Breeland in front of The Needle
ISM is 4th PR

My empty takeaways are
Udoh, Browning and Osborn may be contributors, which would soften the blow from our 2021 no-show draft class
Our borderline Second to Third tier rental FAs Weatherly, Vigil, Woods and Alexander are looking decent so the defense STILL has a chance to be decent (ie, that hasn't been shot down yet)
I've heard Watts name bandied about a little but I haven't heard anything about Pierce, Tomlinson, Richardson
I'm tired of hearing about coach-on-the-field Peterson ... how's he looking athletically?
Special teams look pitiful

thebigo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/11/2021 1:08:56 PM)

So what happened to our fair haired military academy long snapper?

They say Pierce looks good. He routinely pushes Bradbury straight back. I sort of wish I was joking. It's from Paul Allen's radio show.

So he does what every other nfl DT does? Well I guess it’s a start.

I don't know. When he knocked the popcorn out of that one fan's hands, I thought that was some pretty pin point long snapping.

Oh wow. Horrible break for Blake Proehl whose right knee just buckled during one on ones. He went down and trainers immediately ran over to him on the field. His knee completely collapsed.

The one option that was missing was Brad H will complain about Cousins and the Two minute drill about 353 times per week.
