It’s a comedy piece made for every team..

It’s hilarious.

Even more so when you read the apology crowd.

Outstanding Synopsis of our team:
(from my perspective)

https://defector.com/why-your-team-sucks-2021-minnesota-vikings/

/why-your-team-sucks-2021-minnesota-vikings/

- hard pass

Yup. After ripping all the player issues/injuries/opt outs (er wait, he wasn't aware we had any opt outs) we had he says "They might have been the worst 7-9 team in league history." then goes on to rip the coaching staff.

Basically the article was written to entertain those who are... well, entertained by this kind of stuff.

I don't think there is an easier thing to do as a human than be negative ...

The 'Why Your Team Sucks' series has been going on for many years and there's one for every team every year. Cheer up Francis.

I am cheerful, Vern - can't you tell? How could I not be being a part of the apology crowd

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday morning that the Vikings are bringing in renowned epidemiologist and infectious disease expert Dr. Michael Osterholm to speak to the team today, per sources informed of the situation.

Minnesota's vaccination rate among players has lagged behind other NFL teams. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is among the most high-profile players in the NFL not to be vaccinated. Minnesota's QB room has already dealt with missing time due to a COVID-19 case for rookie Kellen Mond.

Coach Mike Zimmer has been vocal about his frustration regarding his team's status related to the vaccine.

Players like Cousins have repeatedly stated that they are doing their own research regarding the vaccine. To aid that process, the Vikings will bring in an expert to talk to the players in hopes of convincing the holdouts that the vaccine is safe and will help the team better navigate the 2021 season without restrictions that come from not getting the shot.

Probably be better off bringing in multiple high level religious leaders that also think vaccines are a good idea.

Its obvious that science isn't enough.

I wonder if Kirky ever got the normal vaccines as a child?

His father appears to be quite a wacko.

Not getting vaccines works great, provided everybody else in the world does get them.

Ito smith formerly of the Falcons right?

Chippy Vikings practice with a couple scuffles, including Garrett Bradbury and Jalyn Holmes that was taken to the ground before teammates broke it up.

Is anyone as worried as I am about our Backup QB situation?

All it takes is one unscrupulous DC (like that ****er from the Saints 2009 Greg Williams) and we are ****ed for the year.

Mond is NOT ready
Browning clearly never will be.

As for the Oline. We were gashing the Colts right up the middle with Ameer Abdullah.

yes Rashod Hill is a turnstyle and Darrisaw is injured and an unknown. but there are signs things are better.

I agree with others and signing a Russell Okung for a short term fix where he can mentor young Darrisaw....would be a great idea

I haven't seen either game but it sounds like everyone should be worried about QB2.

With each passing game it's looking shortsighted that Reiff was cut. A veteran mentor (as you stated) certainly could go a long way toward Darrisaw's development.

What the hell are they thinking going into the season with an injured rookie and 2 low end backups, at best, for the most important position on the line?
This season is looking more and more like it could go sideways in real big hurry.

Looks like Conklin and Ham helping out a lot on left side.

Yup. We have to play 10 on 11 thanks to our poor choices at left tackle that can't handle one on one play.

Curse of Spielman. He never fails to somehow screw up the oline every year.

We could still move Cleveland out to left tackle, install Davis at center, and move Bradbury to left guard before the start of the season, couldn't we?

Yes, fortunately we do have some options. Hopefully they begin implementing them in the next PS game so we're not a hot mess week one.

That was mostly tongue in cheek, yes we might have options, but seems like they are somewhat unknowable, the time for experimenting seems like it should be past.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/23/2021 3:13:46 PM)

Ito Smith scouting report

POSITIVES

—Filthy open-field moves that highlight lateral agility.

—Smith is a reliable receiver out of the backfield who can make plays behind the line of scrimmage or downfield.

—Has good vision on outside runs to press gaps and the patience to slowly move target angles to boundary.

—Can finesse his way to yardage inside with wiggle to sneak through for adequate gains.

—Enough speed to be a viable NFL-level running back.

NEGATIVES

—Small frame (weighed in at 5'9", 201 pounds at the Senior Bowl) that looks even smaller on film.

—Struggles to generate any extra yardage on runs in between the tackles.

True but they do have anther game and numerous more practices before the opener.

Better than losing several winnable games before you realize Hill can't hold his sand.

Very good runner for the Falcons as a backup....no idea why they let him go except I remember a concussion.

Reliable receiving RB's are valuable. Seems like he'd be challenging Abduhlah but from what I'm reading Abduhlah has had an impressive camp and is becoming a good gunner on ST's.

A lot of Vikings transitions today. The full list:
— Signed Everson Griffen and RB Ito Smith.

— Cut QB Danny Etling and LB Christian Elliss.

— Waived/Injured DT Jordon Scott.

— Placed DE Janarius Robinson on IR.

edit: I see Bill all ready covered this one

That was my thought too. We have promising young defensive linemen? Who would that be?

Griffin had 6 sacks last year in limited time. That would have led the Vikings. It’s a good pickup.

We covered our bases by IRing Robinson.

Locks are:

Griffen
Wonnum
Weatherly
Jones

Outside chance if we keep 6 DEs: Holmes or Willekes

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/23/2021 6:00:10 PM)

Didn't get to see it until today cause it was tape delayed by the NFL channel. Our D is going to be fine. I totally forgot we re-signed Richardson. Our DLine depth is pretty sick. Breeland really stood out too.

I would really like to see Davis get a run with the 1's. He's looked good out there. It's going to come down to OLine pass blocking and ST's. Abdullah is solid but not spectacular. There was one kickoff return where ISM really flashed his potential. Going to be hard to keep him off the 53.

Next year is the cap crippler regarding Cousins @ 45ml. They kicked the can down the road so they had some cap room but next year is without a doubt an albatross.
