117 points against in the final two minutes of halves this season. Has to be 30-40 points more than any other team in the league this season. You can't win consistently with those kinds of numbers. There were at least three or four games where a team scored twice in the final two minutes of one half.

Hmmm, I wonder what Kirk's record would be if we were just a middle of the pack defense?

He’d probably get too much praise, just like he gets too much criticism now.

Nothing’s impossible … the right situation, the right bounces … I could see him being successfull in the right program.

He is what he is, a gigantic clump of seaweed with a very good arm sticking out.

My favorite description of Cousins.

Cousins was not this team's biggest issue this year, it was our HC's conservative philosophy, imo but he is part of the bigger problem/puzzle of winning a Super Bowl, which is all I care about.

I hope our GM doesn't take a band aid approach and go all in 2022. If I were the Wilf's I'd look to 2023 and beyond.

New GM, hires HC and trades QB. I'm more concerned with upgrading the TEAM, even if if means a STATISTICAL downgrade at QB. I'm thinking we go for our franchise QB in 2023, as this years draft class isn't strong?

Clean slate, contend for division in 2022 and Super Bowl runs after, in a perfect world.

This year was the band aid approach year. The defense needs a complete overhaul. A new GM (along with a new coach) will understand that. Next year has to be a rebuilding year, so keeping Cousins one more year seems likely (as he won't be extended, and his contract will no longer affect the salary cap in 2023).

Even more reason to trade Cousins while you can get draft pick(s) for him.

Like, I said, if I were the Wilfs; I'd look to next season trying to compete for the division and retool but the Super Bowls runs most likely will take a season or two for the new regime as will finding the franchise QB, optimistically speaking.

Unfortunately, we, as Vikings fans, have to be patient, again.

I am excited by some of the pieces we have and what our future holds with a great GM hire.

Exactly! This is why we need to move on from Spielman. If Cousins is not in the team’s long term plans then they need to get whatever they can for him now. The Lions got two 1st round and one 3rd round pick for Matthew Stafford. Depending on how many teams think Cousins could be the last piece of the puzzle, the Vikings could get a nice return in a trade. But not if Spielman is making the decisions….

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 11:57:57 AM)

Just don't lose anyone to injury and move on. That's all I care about.

Cousins, the one man in the NFL that is incapable of receiving an objective description - especially from the "fans" of the team he's playing on ....

It strikes me that the folks on this board do a good job of evaluating Cousins. He’s a top 12 QB with a lot of arm talent, but he doesn’t have the intangibles that separate the top tier QB’s. He follows directions from his coaching staff, but is bad at improvising, and when things start to go bad in a game offensively, he often short circuits.

Wow, if it wasn't so sad it might be funny ...

I wonder as he gets older if he'll have regrets such is this one that's on display for the world to see ... he's basically just being stubborn 'cause he can - at least that's how it looks to me

edit: I think this is as much proof as we'll get, prior to the game ending, that he is gone for sure

Cousins is a polarizing figure for sure who gets too much blame and credit … as all QBs do.

Its not objective on your part to say nobody else is capable of being objective about him just because your bias is different.

Good one.

More than being a Cousins' fan, I'd like to think I'm looking at this from the angle that "you people" are so bias against Cousins you can't even consider the skill set he brings to the game; it offends you to think of him in any positive light ... as the offense puts up 12 yards in the 1st quarter.

Full list:

QB Kellen Mond
CB Mackensie Alexander
CB Kris Boyd
RB Wayne Gallman
TE Zach Davidson

DT Michael Pierce

What a disappointment Pierce has been.

Unless it's a move for next year, why sign Davidson to the 53 and then have him be inactive?

somebody/spielman should have ordered zimmer to sit cousins for this game - it's just stupid, and if he gets injured seriously, it's beyond stupid, and more heads should roll....

this goes for all starters....

Make sure they're not still billing you. The business side of that paper is very snakey, at least as far as doing what they said they'll do. I finally had to kill it from the credit card side because I couldn't hear another "Aw, shucks, let me fix that for you" then have them try to sell me, and then have charges show up.

Thank you. It was an odd affair and I see what you mean. They never charged my credit card, sent me an email saying my service were discontinued because I didn't pay but I was able to keep reading. I finally got a paper bill. I actually settled with them by paying half - as long as they don't bill me again I'm good. I'll keep an eye on it.

Direct TV was something else. They seem to have a philosophy that we will bill you for what we said we wouldn't, charge you for what you didn't ask for and let it ride until you catch us. I got many years of NFL Ticket out of them but when that well dried up and had to leave.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 4:10:08 PM)

JJ needed 12 yards to break Moss’ record and they didn’t even let him try. Wow, what a horseshit slap in he and the fans face. Real classy fellas 😳😳

Zimmer said he doesn't care about records, only wins....the win was in zero doubt.

Clueless. Bye!

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 4:12:42 PM)

There's been a firing already...let's not sit on Zimmer!

Zoilo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 4:28:32 PM)

Spielman as come up with some good players in the draft. His last two #1 picks have been excellent - Jefferson in 2020 and Darrisaw in 2021, who did a decent job at the important LT position and will only get better.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 4:55:56 PM)

Every GM comes up with some good players.

How has he done overall?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 5:40:03 PM)

JJ/Theilen/KJ/SM/Irv/Conk/Cook/3 5th OL.

Pretty great starting point.

Especially considering we have a starting caliber QB.

Top FA and draft stock to D.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 5:44:39 PM)

I just feel this sense the Wilfs are going to chicken out and take one more shot at it.

Of course I've shown no skill at feeling things...

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 5:55:11 PM)

Another year of the same crap?

Speilman will probably extend Barr.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/9/2022 6:05:13 PM)

We paid a lot of money for about 2 sack/year.

I had my eye on him all year. He's super soft.

I wouldn't want him back on a vet min.
