LOVED the Puke loss! LMFAO!!!!!!!

The way these games all went down showed me how far the Vikes have to go to be a real contended in 2022+....it's a ways....

Nice one.

"It's a ways" ... no hyperbole, no frustration, no unrealistic optimism. But not pessimism.

Unspecified possibility.

Truth.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/24/2022 10:45:06 AM)

I sat there watching it and couldn't even enjoy it. It was a stark reminder of what Lars said. We are a long way from being relevant.

Until June, when Viking Fan Amnesia kicks in.

If there is any saving grace for the Vikes, the NFC is FAR behind the AFC in terms of QB talent. And particularly young QB talent. Is there any team with a QB, particularly a young QB where you think - 'wow it's gonna suck having to contend with him for the next 10 years'? There are guys out there who *might* get there (Kyler is probably the closest currently). But compared to the AFC with Herbert, Burrow, Allen, Mahomes, it's not even comparable IMO.

I wasn't even just QB talent. This weekend reeked of Viking past failure and we haven't learned yet. Frazier's prevent, Hughes getting burned, reliable kickers being clutch. All on display and we haven't adequately addressed in 10+ years.

The 'good' Jerick McKinnon.

Is he as good as "70% Dalvin Cook" (the % of games he has been healthy for) at 10% of the salary?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/24/2022 11:14:47 AM)

Currently for 2022 we are third in positional spending at RB behind Dallas and Tennessee.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/24/2022 11:22:42 AM)

Rodgers would be crazy to go to AFC. Lots of QB talent in AFC and not a hell of a lot in NFC.

I agree that the defense was done no favors from kicking through the EZ for TB but what you did all year doesn't matter if you fail the final test.

A #1 defense that let a team go 44 yards in 10 seconds. It should never happen. Period.

It's football in 2022. It happens every week. Which is why we need a quarterback that can do the same thing. Football has become a video game, and we have the BETA version playing quarterback.

Get real. What you are saying is we should draft another Brady with our 5th rd. pick this year. Sure ... why not.

That was a game for the ages.

The last two minutes were a perfect storm of scheme, playcall, execution, personnel, and luck.

The Chiefs and Bills are in disbelief this morning.

We were the worst two-minute team in football this year. Our defense gave up something like 138 points while our offense scored a fraction of that. You have be able to control the clock to guard against the other team having time to get down the field, and at the same time be able to score yourself. We were flat out terrible at it the past two years.

Your two minute gig is like your Big Lie ... repeat it over and over, someone might listen. It started as a simple Cousins rant and now has morphed into chewy bubble gum, adaptable to any argument.

Our team this year doesn't even play the same sport as the the two teams that played last night. Non-relatable.

Isn't that kind of what I'm saying?

Not in the least.

You stated that kind of QB play 'happens every week'.

I responded with, those type of QBs don't grow on trees.

Then you launched AGAIN into your 'two minute' crusade ...

A Cousins only argument that has now been forced to accommodate our abysmal coaching and defense as contributors.

Something about the mountain of evidence getting in your way. Not that you'd ever admit it.

But that kind of QB play does happen every week. It could just as easily be said that some of you are incapable of looking at our quarterback woes as a result of our bad coaching. It isn't always about the coaching. I fully expect a guy making $35-million to go out and control the show in the final two minutes, coaches aside. At $35-million, the expectation should be of having one of the top guys in the league.

Fraziers prevent defense is worse than Zimmers.

Frazier's defense was great all season. McDermott set him up for failure by kicking the ball into the end zone. Gave KC an extra play.

Agreed time management was bad... but you can't give up those 2 plays to set up a field goal with 13 seconds... you have to be a little less SAAWWFFTTT than that.

Kicking into the endzone should have been no problem and it avoided the chance of a long return which in theory should have been the only threat to lose the game. The big problem was that prevent defense that had defenders defending an area of the field SO DEEP from the LOS that a KC receiver would have slid down prior to even getting there. KC DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SECONDS TO REACH THE ENDZONE SO WHY WAS BUFFALO DEFENDING IT?

A simple cover 2 with a dime package was all Buffalo needed to clinch the game but instead they defended the deep ball and let KC succeed with two plays underneath that gained a grotesque amount of yards.

There was 13 seconds left. If a team returns it for a TD you tip your cap and say congratulations. If they have a normal return to the 25-30 yard line, there would have only been 6-7 seconds left on the clock, max.

I agree the coverage and defensive scheme were bad. But KC would have only had time to run one play had the coach not kicked it into the end zone.

I think not kicking it to Hill was a sound choice on paper. But it did backfire big time. Frazier should have dialed up pressure but instead sat back and let them gain 25 yards a play throwing underneath.

Agreed, the AFC is loaded.

I don't think Garapolo or Stafford is that much better than Cousins.

No there not. But SF and LA defenses are both insanely good.

Aaron Donald is simply an animal. He's been in the league 7 seasons and has been a unanimous 1st team all pro selection every year. To think we could have drafted him instead of Barr.

Exactly. The same people that are saying they should have squib kicked would be in here screaming they should have kicked it out of the EZ if KC had returned a squib kick to the 40+ yard line and ended up with the same game tying FG.

Like I told my buddy last night; on the second play from the 47 yard-line, just grab every receiver after five yards and tackle them. A pass interference penalty is a spot foul and it would have run the clock down to 3-4 seconds, minimum. KC would have been left two choices, a hail Mary or 60+ yard field goal. I have no idea why these teams don't use the rules to their advantage.

No. If they had returned it the clock would have run. They would have had a max of 7-8 seconds with any type of return, maybe less. Giving them the 25 with no time running off the clock was just stupid. If they are going to get to the 25, at least have 4-5 seconds run off the clock in order to do it.
