Rodgers isnt going anywhere.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
Thanks to the new cap room, the #Packers are expected to franchise tag WR Davante Adams.

Great. No Vikings-related news, rumor or innuendo today or for about a week from any outlet. They all just got a big hairy cheese spike in their veins.

Plus, I can't wait for the pro-Cousins crowd to pump the '45M for KClutch is sweet by comparison' arguments.

Alrighty then, Cousins trade value just went up and the Packers are going to be up against the cap and less talented than the past few years.

Nice.

You know Rodgers will pull a power play and make the Packers give Adams 25M a year.

Goodbye Smith Bros., Campbell and maybe Alexander when his contract is up.

I've been looking over their roster and cap situation and even if they miracle Rodgers' cap number in 2022 to $30 million (which will strangle them in 2023-2024) there's no way they can keep Z'darius and Preston Smith. That's BEFORE signing Davonte Adams.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 11:57:16 AM)

Now is the time to clear the deck and build a solid winning roster. Everything is in place

1. New coach
2. New GM
3. Packers set to implode on an EPIC level - will make the Saints situation look like a pizza party
4. Market right to move Cousins
5. Roster full of high priced and/or aging vets (Smith, Hunter, Thielen)

Seriously - clear the deck and build a winner. We'll have a bad season in 2022 and then be set to DOMINATE the NFC North for years. DO IT!!!

Absolutely agree.

This is great news for the Vikings! Hopefully, Wilson quickly works things out in Seattle as well. That would leave Cousins as the best option for NFL teams that think they're close to a Superbowl. Looking forward to a bidding war between the Browns, Steelers, and Broncos.

I hope you are correct but I don't see it.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 12:46:18 PM)

Bolstering the argument to avoid expensive, long-term deals with running backs, the Panthers say they're open to taking calls to trade Christian McCaffrey.

I don't think I would ever extend a RB for anything close to big money.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 12:57:19 PM)

Russell Wilson to Denver is all over Twitter.

Wow, that relationship must have been sour.

I give both parties credit for keeping the relationship out of the media, kept his value high.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 12:57:38 PM)

Damn you Seahawks!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joejitsu -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:01:02 PM)

WOW. Big quarterback news today.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:18:00 PM)

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Trade package:

Seattle gets QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, DL Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick.

Denver gets Russell Wilson and a fourth-round pick.

OMG I'm actually jealous of both teams. Seattle came out the better though in my opinion. Maybe they'll give us one of those first-rounders for Kirk? Who am I kidding - they'll use them to draft a QB early - most likely in the 2023 draft.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:31:04 PM)

Denver got bent over.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:33:44 PM)

It better happen for Denver quick bc this thing will fall off a cliff quickly.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:37:01 PM)

The best part of the Russell Wilson trade is that it stole the spotlight from Aaron "Pretty girl that needs to be told she's a pretty girl" Rodgers.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:37:39 PM)

If Green Bay trades Love for a second rounder before we trade Cousins I'm going to cry a little bit.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 1:43:15 PM)

I can't believe what Denver gave up...two starters 2 firsts and 2 seconds. 2/3rd of a Hershel Walker trade.

Damn why not try to get Kyler with that deal instead of an older Wilson......seems really steep.

Supposedly they really like Malik Willis.

Wilson's cap hit for 2022 is $24 million and 2023 is $27 million. They'll be able to build around him.

Denver things they have had everything but a QB for several years, I guess they got tired of trying it that way.

Last time they traded for an older HoF QB, they made 2 SBs, winning one...

Plus they'll probably extend him and reduce his cap number in whatever year makes most sense for them.
