Got a message from God, for Kirk:

"Please sign with Pittsburgh, Indy or Tampa Bay.

I would like Brady to unretire and go to San Francisco, to keep SF beating GB in the playoffs.

If Green Bay trades Love for a second rounder before we trade Cousins I'm going to cry a little bit.

You really think they can get a 2nd rounder for Love?

Still surprised by the 2 1sts and 2 2nds....Maybe Kevin Costner went from the Browns to the Seahawks?

Ha! We’ll stick with Cousins for this year, cut some other salaries, and pick up some free agents. The new qb comes next year.

We should get something for the one we have if we’re getting a new one.

Now is the time to clear the deck and build a solid winning roster. Everything is in place

1. New coach
2. New GM
3. Packers set to implode on an EPIC level - will make the Saints situation look like a pizza party
4. Market right to move Cousins
5. Roster full of high priced and/or aging vets (Smith, Hunter, Thielen)

Seriously - clear the deck and build a winner. We'll have a bad season in 2022 and then be set to DOMINATE the NFC North for years. DO IT!!!

Agreed

it won't even be any worse than the last 2 seasons...
we'll rebuild, go 8-9, pick at 12 again and be moving forward as a franchise...

if we keep KC and try our best, we will go 9-8, down further into cap hell, pick 17 and need to rebuild next year anyway

The best part of the Russell Wilson trade is that it stole the spotlight from Aaron "Pretty girl that needs to be told she's a pretty girl" Rodgers.

yes, but those are the only ones left that seem to be possibly in the KFC trade market after Denver went all out for Wilson

maybe New Orleans? who else?

I'm just saying he can't sign with anybody. Even if God tells him to.

Nice.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 8:05:18 PM)

Didn't the cap go up like $25 mil? The dollar signs he now sees and Rodgers guaranteed money just might outweigh God's wishes to the point where he will hold out... from the Vikings and the church.

Kirk Cousins, rogue QB. Will audible for an additional $10 million per annum. But will still throw goal to go 4th down passes into the cheap seats, sacrosanct and one of his personal 10 commandments.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 8:12:09 PM)

What are this dudes personal football commandments now that he is 10 years in?

- Thou shall demand 100% guaranteed contracts.
- Thou shall default to God's desire (thereby removing responsibility).
- Thou shall run the plays as called (thereby removing responsibility).
- Thou shall protect stats at all costs.
- Thou shall not get vaccinated, tough shit if I have to sit out.
- xxx

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/8/2022 8:57:48 PM)

I think God told me to relay the message to Kirk to sign with one of those teams (the final process after approving a trade), was because if God had just told Kirk to GO to one of those places, Kirk might have misunderstood, and just took a vacation there.

imo: cousins doesn't want to be traded...doesn't want to leave the nice, new, clean confines of vikingsville - especially with o'connell at the helm...he will not make a trade easy for kwesi...we're going to have to kick in some extra cap space to get rid of him - he'll probably be on the books for $55mm between us and whoever he ends up with....

imo: he's told his agent to do his begging for him...'keep me in Minnesota, I'll sign an extension that works for them'...i feel it...i smell it...it's in the ether of stale vikings' history....

imo: cousins is our quarterback for the next four seasons - but it won't be all bad....

The latest (from a reliable source) suggested Love would go for a Day 3 pick. Nothing says, "We don't believe in Love at all." quite like a $200 million contract handed to Rodgers.

In general, Seahawks fans aren't happy with the haul. They expected more, citing the Adams trade for comparison.

Doesn't jive with all the reports he's not willing to do team friendly deals.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/9/2022 5:37:44 AM)

All I want is a 2nd round pick and clearance from that contract.

Go to battle with Mond and a pick with our best 2nd rounder.

Let the Chips fall where they may.

I don’t know … the no news thing is starting to smell bad, like an extesion in the works. I don’t think we could move KC unless we offered a real bad deal for us … and the new regime is probably gunshy about that or for any big splashes anyway. Cousins for another two-three years has a built in excuse … we walked into it and this deal will allow us to build a team under, around and through him. And in the meantime we will be grooming our guy (drafted this year or next).

I think this the most realistic path forward. Its also my worst case scenario so I wouldn’t bet against it.

Ha! We’ll stick with Cousins for this year, cut some other salaries, and pick up some free agents. The new qb comes next year.

If you mean new QB in the draft, then you get rid of Cousins now. You lose most of your games and be in a position to get that QB of choice next year. A little difficult if you finish in the middle and are drafting in the 16-20 range.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/9/2022 9:04:30 AM)

If we got a mid-round pick for Cousins and threw in 25M I would bend the knee towards the new regime.

But not only would no one else (besides vikings fans) go for it, I could easily see Cousins nixing any offer, saying ‘no, my family and I are not going anywhere in 2022 whether I play or not’.

The Saints could go berserk and offer us 2 hershel walker deals and Cousins would be like, ‘no thank you, I like the way they starch my Sunday shirts at dry cleaner near my kid’s school.’

Pauldiercks1 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/9/2022 9:15:59 AM)

I didn't realize Cousins had a no trade clause in his contract? Cousins certainly doesn't seem like the type to give up his money by not playing.

this is how i see it; if the new boys don't see a 2023 future with cousins, then it's a waste of cap space and possible draft assets to keep him in 2022...trade him for anything you can get....

worst-case scenario trade:
we give them cousins and pay another $25mm towards his 2022 contract making the cap savings only $10mm - also, no draft capital received by us....

the trading team would pay cousins $20mm - this would net cousins $45mm in new money + he'll have the $10mm prorated from his earlier deal...this deal pays cousins $10mm more for 2022 than he was due to make - the $10mm is to talk cousins into the deal - we need his approval....

as phucked up a deal as this may seem to many, it still does save us $10mm in cap space - which is something, if the new boys really see no future in cousins....

then we redo the contracts of hunter, theilen, kendricks, smith, and then pick up a CB, Center, Guard in free agency....
