Hard pass on paying 35 million to ditch Cousins. Pay the extra 10 roll the dice and make him win, possibly accept getting us to a SB to see another year with us.

Unsubstanciated unverified non-sourced hot take: Aaron Rodgers was Denver's second choice and he broke the news of him returning to Green Bay even though there was no signed contract, no contract details, no official announcement, no nothing so as to make it look like he was their first choice.

Not sure if we have the cash to get Bobby Wagner for a year, but it looks as if the Seahawks are going to let him go. Terron Armstead is another we should take a run at.

The question is, is anybody interested? I wouldn't be. Denver was a team with a huge need and they never once showed any interest in Cousins. They went after a guy that can run a two-minute offense. Seattle has completely waived the white flag and told the football world they are in rebuild mode. The traded Wilson and now are letting go of Bobby Wagner.

You don't think he could say he didn't want to play for the new team ... even if it means sitting out a year? Given his vaccine approach, I think he could be very stubbornly effect a deal.

First of all, you don't have any way of knowing that. Second, any lack of interest in Cousins by QB desperate teams is most likely about the 1 year overpriced deal, not his two minute adequacy. On any given Sunday he's better than 15ish starters in the league ... a fair value contract and he'd be gone already, easily.

I can see them spread out the 45M cap hit over two years ... just for breathing room. But ... There's going to be an avalanche of quality players being released as we reach the deadline to be under the cap. Jim and Pat talked about it in detail on yesterday's Moving the Chains. Specifically they dug into Green Bay's situation. They said even if Rodgers' new deal saves them space the amount of players Green Bay will need to cut to make Davonte Adams fit is staggering. They said both Smiths, the kicker, safety Adrian Amos and possibly more will have to be cut. I'll risk sounding like a broken record player but the time has never been better to clear the deck and rebuild. We'll need cap space to pick up some of the players that become cap casualties. Cousins, Hunter, Thielen, and Smith are where that money comes from. This year's draft is loaded with DE talent. We'd have to roll the dice and hope for a QB in next year's draft. If it works we're set. If it fails we try again.

One week to get under the cap… If this regime extends Cousins.. I’ll lose my respect for the Wilfs and the new GM.. Suck it up.. Burn the bridges.. Cousins 45 million cap hit is unavoidable.. unless we extend, or offer to pay a huge chunk of it to ANY team that wants him.. The next six players on the salary totem pole account for ~48 million dollars in cap. Theilen, cook, Hunter, Kendrick, Harrison Smith and pierce.. Kendrick’s is the only one I feel has played his contract value. His cap hit is 5.6 million, his dead is 7.5 million. That’s where we are.. ~ 42% or 90+ million in cap, tied up in 7 total players.. **** Spielman all to hell..

I am not a fan of paying LBs, safeties, or RBs a lot of money. Mack hasn't propelled the Bears to anything. The ability to cover WR and generate a pass rush are the keys to a good defense.

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Commanders acquired QB Carson Wentz from the Colts. ESPN's Adam Schefter added that the deal is expected to include two third-round picks. He also noted that Washington is picking up the tab for all $28 million of Wentz's contract in 2022. After falling apart in the Colts' Week 18 loss to the Jaguars, Wentz's days in Indy were numbered. All reports after the conclusion of their season only confirmed this sentiment. Wentz improved after reuniting with Frank Reich in Indianapolis but he failed to show the ceiling that earned him a mega-contract in Philly. Instead, he simply cut back on the mistakes while handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor. The Commanders are stocked with talent on defense and has a core of young skill-position players on offense. Their front office clearly believes that they are one average quarterback away from being a serious contender. To their credit, the quarterback play in Washington has been middling to atrocious in recent years. Wentz will help boost the team's floor but it remains to be seen if he is capable of leading his team to the playoffs anymore.

I'm in the trade cousins camp, but i also understand the people that want to keep him for the 2022 season...maybe o'connell can turn him around, turn the team around...all we need is a Center, maybe a guard, and a CB...maybe we can make a run next season.... do the following and we'll have enough cap space to contend with cousins in 2022: add void years thing with cousins.... redo hunter, theilen, smith, kendricks...let go pierce and ham.... sign free agent center, guard, cb.... draft cb, wr, cb.... if the above doesn't work out we can fire theilen, smith, kendricks, and cook next year to clear some cap space for a rebuild....
