Bradbury may be the worst starting offensive lineman in the NFL.

We need a new center if we want to be a playoff team with any hope.

I'm starting to drink the Kool-Aid but still don't see more than a one and out with our QB.

No excuses for sure....all things are aligning. We even have better depth. Spielman and Zimmer basically said it wasn't possible last year to have depth.

Kwesi does it with ease and still has cap room to boot....

It will be interesting to see what happens, when some of our veteran expensive contracts come off the books...kendricks, Harry, Theilen, Cook

16 million for Barr, Gladney, and Pierce too.

Nice to see, that the front office is able to recognize problems...

Its not life changing, but its an obvious improvement...He at least gives you a small chance to steal a game against a bad team if KC has a problem

Good post. 2024 seventh rounder for maybe a backup QB ... that works. I wouldn't stop looking though.

At the very least you want a back-up guy with a 1) decent arm, 2) can move around a bit and buy time because no backup is polished in the pocket or great at pre-snap reads, and 3-5) has some cajones because no backup gets enough practice reps, they need som extra feisty sauce just to step in on the fly and operate.

IMO Mullens checks those boxes from the very little I've seen. We are still sunk without KC over multiple games but atleast Mullens will make it interesting ... Mannion was just so depressing.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 10:47:34 AM)

More and more of the stench from the last regime is diffusing away. Love it!

When Zimmer and Spielman first came on...there were the McGill, Phillips, ZED type FA signings and the high upside Chandler, Evans, Booth, Cine draft picks....I don't know if they just got lazy or what. But it was depressing to see a coach and gm go in front of the mic and both say there isn't enough depth on the team a game or two in if there are injuries. (Isn't that your job to develop, sign, and draft depth)?

He's definitely interesting. A ton of talent. If we can help him mature, we could actually have something.

agreed

with our skill weapons, dont be afraid, let JJ shine, give him a chance to make you look good, and he will....same with our other skill positions

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 10:52:26 AM)

We fans are big winners today because we never have to watch Mannion again.

Looks like a younger version and size of Case....just seems like a savy, smart trade.

Imo it was a no brainer move but credit to them! Much better at qb 2 now. At least he's nfl caliber.

Good point Phil. Not sure why they thought they could have so many excuses.

I guess it really shows my opinion of Mond/Mannion when I am excited about trading for Mullins

agreed, it was a no-brainer, but our last regime were no brainers...so the change is good

now, let's address the no-brainer starting center position...i like Schlottman as backup center

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:21:08 AM)

The bottom line for me is that now if Cousins has to miss a game or three or five, I feel like we still have a chance to win those games. A reduced chance, for sure, but still a chance and that's really important.

completely agree...

will be the Chiefs...not likely, but do we have a chance against the Seahawks...i think so

If he can get up to speed with the playbook, we should be okay. A nice upgrade from what we had just yesterday.

If I remember correctly Mullins actually didn't have Deebo for 3 of his 8 starts in 2020.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:38:42 AM)

Phil says Mullens has a little Favre in him, and there is this:

....He played college football for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, where he surpassed Brett Favre's single-season record for passing yardage (4,476) and touchdown passes (38).

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:40:02 AM)

Mullens may be more of a gamer than Cousins.

He takes over, and you might start spelling Cousins, Cousens.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:41:44 AM)

The Vikings probably have a better passing system than the 49ers, Mullens could flourish.

Not the next Keenum, he may be BETTER than Keenum. More like the next Nick Foles.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:52:39 AM)

Nick ('Foles') Mullens, Most passing TDs in USM history:

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 11:56:30 AM)

I love that the days of the Treadwells and Mannions seem behind us. Of course we won't hit on near everything but these guys seem to understand things.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/22/2022 12:02:34 PM)

A better right side of the OL than 49ers (with Ingram starting), a better passing system, better WRs, better RB, Mullens could flourish, here's his first start for SF:

https://youtu.be/3jBPdo1TrT4

Just need a TE that can stay healthy, and a better center.

You do realize he's only going to play if Cousins is out, right?
