Looking at Mullen's INTs, if you can solidify C, RG, and RT, then he probably won't throw a lot of INTs.

RT is solidified for the Vikes, RG might be with Ingram, then there is that sticky center spot. LT and LG should be fine.

Maybe WR Albert Wilson would have shined more with Mullen, instead of working with Mannion or Mond, and would still be on the team ?

Marty you have as big of backup WR bromance as you do backup QB bromance....we only keep 5 or 6. Who are you cutting? Probably still trading or cutting Bisi.

JJeff, Thielen, Osborne, Bisi, Smith- Marsette, Jackson, Nailor, and Chisena.

That is a stocked WR room.

So far, I have only presented the positives of Mullens.

Here is a video of every Mullen INT in 2020:

https://youtu.be/9ycDyBftflg

Three tipped balls, seven terrible decisions, and two incredible efforts by the defender. Works for me!

All the fault of the O-Line apparently.

Yes if Spielman taught us anything, this trade could start a cataclysmic chain reaction that could cripple the Vikings’ draft for years to come.

He would hit on a 7th rounder once in a while but when you have 4 of them each year....

I'm glad they did something. Many on the Mond wagon last week have jumped but I never understood why they were on it. I just didn't seeing anything to say he will be a competent backup anytime soon. Mannion is just plain terrible.
Now please do anything to improve the center position. I can't watch him being thrown around again it was tough last year when they continued with him.

I texted two friends who couldn't watch the first game but asked about Mond. My reply was that he put up some stats but looked terrible.

Just three weeks after surgery on his right thumb, Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. was back on the practice field Monday, taking the next step in a rehab process the team believes can have him ready for the regular-season opener against Green Bay on Sept. 11.

Smith took part in some individual drills with a wrap on his thumb and was on the field for some full-team snaps. He wasn't catching the ball yet, but coach Kevin O'Connell said he thought Smith "moved great today."

"He looks like he's in great shape, so I credit our sports performance staff and [strength coach] Josh Hingst for keeping him ready to go and engaged despite him being out of surgery and not being able to do much," O'Connell added. "He'll continue to progress into real football, but he's made great strides and I'm proud of the way Irv's attacked this thing."

Smith, O'Connell said, has remained involved in the Vikings' meetings and walk-throughs after surgery. The key step, between now and Week 1, will be to ensure he can do everything his job requires.

"I'm happy with where Irv's at right now, and hoping to continue to progress him toward game action," O'Connell said.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/23/2022 1:53:52 PM)

Second-round pick Andrew Booth Jr. limped off the field during Saturday's game, after aggravating an ankle injury in the second quarter. O'Connell said Booth's injury is "a little bit more than day-to-day," and it's unclear at this point whether the Vikings will try to have the cornerback play in the preseason finale Saturday night in Denver.

Either way, O'Connell said, the Vikings are hopeful about Booth's status for the start of the regular season. In the meantime, the team will use a number of resources to help get the rookie ready for a Week 1 matchup with Aaron Rodgers.

"We've got a virtual [reality] room, we've got a bunch of coaches that can be meeting with him extra, if he needs that time," O'Connell said. "And then obviously we'll have walk-throughs, we'll have different ways of keeping him engaged, even though he can't get those full-speed reps. I think Andrew will be just fine from a mental standpoint."

NFL Power Rankings 2022: Preseason 1-32 poll and hot seat watch for coaches and players

23. Minnesota Vikings

Post-draft ranking: 23

Who's on the hot seat: C Garrett Bradbury

Bradbury was an immediate starter at center after the Vikings drafted him No. 18 overall in 2019. But he was benched briefly last season, and new general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on his contract. That means Bradbury's deal will expire after this season, giving him one final chance to convince the team he can be its long-term answer. -- Kevin Seifert

In the case of Albert Wilson and Harrison Hand, the Vikings appear to be giving guys a chance to get a look elsewhere before the market is flooded with players next Tuesday.

We should be thankful the Vikings played the Raiders in the pre-season so they could see Mullens shine, then played a strong SF defense to make the Viking backup QBs look bad enough to want to improve the position.

A nice sequence of events.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2022 11:32:05 AM)

Some Raiders fans believe Mullens is better than Carr, and I one fan thought the Raiders were basing too much on the pre-season for their evaluation, and that Mullens has won more games in the regular season than Stidham.

That Stidham has won zero games, and has mostly looked pretty awful in regular season games.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2022 11:36:16 AM)

I don't have a "mancrush" on Mullens, just like him as a backup for Kirk. Mancrush was just used to try and negate my comments.

While Mullens could flourish with the Vikings' offense, I am excited to see Kirk play in this new offense.

I just like QBs that win.

Stidham has thrown 48 passes over 8 games of relief. He's never started a game or even come into one in a good situation.

And his teams are 4-4 in games he's played.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2022 11:40:32 AM)

Even in good situations, they said Stidham has looked awful.
