We waived Ihmir Smith for this move?

Could kept 6 WR. DUMB. [X(]

Not looking good. Almost Identical to the Watts for Blacklock move. We kept Nailor over Smith-Marsette is very surprising.

Easy. Anything before 2022 takes a back seat.

Overly inflated ego showing again.

?? 5th WR that can't return punts gone for someone that can and is explosive at it.

One good return of 70+ is all he has to hang his hat on.

Remember though; blocking is important on returns. First thing first catching punts (Ish can't). If we keep a 6th it was Chisena for ST....same as the 5th...Reagor is better at ST.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 2:43:52 PM)

We're not making moves here. We're picking off the scrap heap so players have KAM's finger prints on them.

I think next year vets start to fall. Theilen, Harrison etc...

Agreed... I think we need to let things shake out... if Reagor is redeemable... it's a coup.
At a minimum... ISM was given a chance to take the PR job and failed.
I thought ISM delivered everytime he got a chance as WR though... oh well.

You are complaining about back of the roster changes.....how much did Ish play last year?

I don't care what we do as long as it includes getting a real nfl center.

Please

Reagor has wanted to come here since Jefferson broke out his first year....so there is that.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 2:56:25 PM)

I don't mind the regime trying to put their own stamp on things. I would.

I'm not sure my sole focus would be extinguishing all traces of Spielman's last draft class in one offseason ... it kind of seems like a newbie GM making too strong a point.

I guess we'll see how all this turns out.

I just wish we were giving some attention to the cracks in the dam spouting water.

Some seem too obvious...Ish can't handle punts, they bring in three for C/G (Reed, Schlottman, and Davis) trade away the lesser, Watts can't defend the run. Try a couple other guys in those back of the roster spots.

I think Suh is coming. I think a Kelce or another C also....after week 1 when contracts aren't guaranteed.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:00:57 PM)

Well said Tom.

And yes to both calls about C. I we're sending 4 out no one's going to be able to chip in to keep Tackles out of Cousins lap.

"I think Suh is coming. I think a Kelce or another C also....after week 1 when contracts aren't guaranteed."

I agree... and it's not a terrible strategy... except I have a deep seated need to beat GB out of the gate... sure hope it all falls into place.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:15:14 PM)

Here are the 12 players the team has confirmed as members of the practice squad:

WR Dan Chisena
S Myles Dorn
G Kyle Hinton
WR Trishton Jackson
RB Bryant Koback
LB William Kwenkeu
TE Nick Muse
CB Parry Nickerson
OLB Janarius Robinson
DT T.J. Smith
C Josh Sokol
DL Jaylen Twyman

The team lists Nickerson as being signed to the practice squad as a “veteran,” while Chisena and Dorn are listed as “exceptions.” I honestly don’t know the difference between a veteran and an exception, to be honest. I’ll have to see if I can dig up that information.

That means the Vikings still have four spots on their practice squad left to be filled. They don’t have to fill them right away or anything. . .they’re probably looking to see if anyone shakes loose today that they’re interested in before making any more moves.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:22:31 PM)

Why I don't like the Reagor deal.

I liked Smith-Marsette as a 4th WR. Reagor has been something of a bust, and we gave up too much draft pick compensation to get him.

Why I like this deal

We now have a good Punt Returner and Reagor has talent but his rookie season he was hurt with Bad Carson Wentz as his QB, then last year they drafted Devonte Smith and switched to Jalen Hurts as a QB and a more smash mouth rushing attack. There is some hope here that Reagor can turn his career around with a halfway decent QB and almost no pressure as he will be down on the depth chart below Theilen, JJ and Osborn. And with good examples on route running and work ethic on the roster in Theilen, JJ and Osborn, he may learn quickly.

How fast can he absorb our playbook is the real question here.

ratoppenheimer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:24:17 PM)

.
.
Regarding ISM…there’s this to consider….

“there was some tension in the locker room after he told rookie CB Andrew Booth “sleep with both eyes open, b*tch.”

“…it could’ve been his, quote, “thirsty” comments towards star WR Justin Jefferson’s girlfriend that did him in.

Chris Olson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:29:21 PM)

Reagor is a value in probably a better WR than ISM, but a way better PR

feels like everyone thinks he is a complete bust as a WR1 or WR2...

but he could push for serious play time if he gets on track...

I think working with Jefferson will push him too...he seems very jealous of JJ

I'm not always sure what you mean. I think you're saying that 'Kwesi's strategy is cwazy obvious' ...

we got rid of WR ISM because he couldn't field punts (only play WR), so we traded for a WR that can only field punts ...

we addressed our weakest position with three question marks, back-up Reed, barely back-up Schlottman and not even a backup Davis .. but we only kept two ...

we discarded Watts who can't defend the run but had more tackles last year than dynamic run stoppers Phillips or Lynch have ever had in a season (in fact more last year than Phillips had if you combine his first 3 seasons (of 4).. oh and he can also rush the passer unlike Phillips and Lynch ...

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/31/2022 3:39:04 PM)

I always come in here and feel like a devil's advocate.

Really, I couldn't begin to guess at how good this team will be or not be.

Just so much change and no track record to bounce off of ... how good a job this GM and coaching staff are at putting all these pieces together.

Should be a wild ride, at least early.

Who did they cut from Spielman's last class that didn't suck?

1) I remember the few tackles the Williams wall had....you don't measure the run defense in tackles. Stats say Watts struggled against the run; meant more for 4-3. 2) Davis cut or Davis trade? 3) Nailor prob is just as good of WR and Reagor is faster....
