Not much to say about last night. The Wild took a last place team and kicked six kinds of dog manure out of them. SMF pointed out that Pitlick looks like the Canadiens best player.

Talbot tweaked his "lower body" injury and didn't play the 3rd.

What the hell was with 6'3" 227 lb Josh Anderson trying to start a fight with 5'9" 166 lb Jared Spurgeon?

I read the Canadiens were mad about a slash by Spurgeon and they were looking to pick a fight thereafter.

They were upset about a Spurgeon slash? Wow! Anderson hit Hartman with a baseball bat two hander in the back of the legs late in the second. Anderson is flat out a punk and a pussy. Tries to start a fight with the smallest guy on the ice then delivers a 2 hander and fights with Hartman, who is only giving away 3 inches and 30 pounds to Anderson. I only hope he and Foligno meet up next time.

That's the thing about the Habs. Darlings of the NHL media but they've always been dirty bastards. At least Philly owns it. Montreal hides behind this façade of a clean team snakebiten.

They were on the rise a couple years ago. Glad to lay an asswhoopen on that dirtbag of a team. Kick em' when they're down.

As much of a hockey nerd as I am, I don't pay that much attention to the East until late in the playoffs. Made me smile when I saw their record before the game. I had no idea they had fallen so far.

Actually, they were upset by an inadvertent shoulder to the head of Dvorak when Spurgeon was crashing the net for a rebound.
Spurgeon came flying in and Dvorak didn't see him and put his head right in his path and got clipped by his shoulder. No penalty or anything, but Dvorak didn't return after the hit. Of course the Habs are all up in arms over it today, because Spurgeon is such big, bad cheap shot artist ....you know, kind of like Josh Anderson. [&o]

That was another great finish.

I really liked Kirill’s Superman dive onto the pile of Hawks who had Ekker
down at the bottom.

Now if we can play the PP with the same level of urgency as 6 on 5,
We will be very dangerous.

I was thinking about the difference between the 2 and it seems like when we are 6 on 5 we are constantly moving and weaving around making us hard to cover. On our PP we are mostly stationed in certain spots and just passing back and forth with little movement unless a pass is off or we mishandle the pass. Last night we scored 2 on the PP and I think it was mainly due to having Ekker back in front raising havoc with the goalie and D. We really do need to get the PP going in order to be a complete team.

Agreed

Bally Sports North, we hardly knew ya. Bally's is rebranding to The Horseshoe.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2021/2022 Season (1/27/2022 9:21:26 AM)

What? Is that a joke? What kind of sports network name is "The Horseshoe?"

https://www.aol.com/goodbye-ballys-hello-horseshoe-las-150045317.html

More than 70 years after the first Horseshoe casino emerged in downtown Las Vegas, the historic brand is returning to its hometown – this time at the center of the Strip.

Caesars Entertainment Inc. plans to transform Bally’s Las Vegas into a Horseshoe casino through a multimillion-dollar renovation project starting this spring. The rebranding will allow the World Series of Poker to reunite with the Horseshoe brand – its original home – after more than a dozen years at the Rio.

"The Horseshoe brand is the most legendary brand in gaming," Jason Gregorec, senior vice president and general manager of the property, told USA TODAY. "To be able to bring the Horseshoe brand to the Las Vegas Strip at the most iconic intersection of Las Vegas is a perfect fit."

Because it affects all 4 major team sports in the state.

They spent all that time, energy and money changing from Fox Sports to Bally Sports, and made such a big deal about it. There will likely be another big deal made when they change it to The Horseshoe Sports Network North.

Different Bally's...

The Bally Sports Regional Networks are a group of regional sports networks in the United States owned by Diamond Sports Group, a joint-venture company of the Sinclair Broadcast Group and Entertainment Studios. The naming rights to the network were sold to casino operator Bally's Corporation.

The networks were formerly known as Fox Sports Networks and operated by News Corporation for most of their existence. They were acquired by Diamond Sports from The Walt Disney Company in 2019, as Disney was required to divest them by the U.S. Department of Justice as a condition of their own acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

Bally's Las Vegas is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, not Bally's Corporation.

I get that. But the name Bally's no longer has any meaning for the TV station or casino now. Therefore it will be changed. Bet you $50.

So you think Bally's is going to rebrand their entire sports network to match a casino they don't even own?

If Bally's doesn't have sports gambling or casinos anymore, why would the TV station continue using the name? THAT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF CHANGING THE NAME TO BALLY SPORTS!!...TO TIE INTO THE CASINO AND SPORTS GAMBLING BRAND!! THAT BRANDING SCHEME WILL NO LONGER EXIST!!!!

You're going to keep digging this hole, huh?

Bally's Corporation operates fourteen casino properties and a horse track:

Bally's Arapahoe Park — Aurora, Colorado
Bally's Atlantic City — Atlantic City, New Jersey
Bally's Black Hawk — Black Hawk, Colorado
Bally's Dover — Dover, Delaware
Bally's Evansville — Evansville, Indiana
Bally's Kansas City — Kansas City, Missouri
Bally's Lake Tahoe — Stateline, Nevada
Bally's Quad Cities — Rock Island, Illinois
Bally's Shreveport — Shreveport, Louisiana
Bally's Tiverton — Tiverton, Rhode Island
Bally's Twin River Lincoln — Lincoln, Rhode Island
Bally's Vicksburg — Vicksburg, Mississippi
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi — Biloxi, Mississippi

Note: Bally's Las Vegas is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, not Bally's Corporation.

So in your head, it makes sense for them to rebrand their sports network to match the one "Bally's" property they have nothing to do with, and not keep it the same name as the dozen+ that they do own and are named "Bally's"?

David Levine -> RE: Wild 2021/2022 Season (1/27/2022 11:10:41 AM)

Do you also realize that Bally's Corporation have no ownership over the name "Horseshoe"? And that if they used any of Caesars "Horseshoe" branding, they'd be sued back to the dark ages before they even started?

Maybe you're onto something. Why don't you start your own independent tax business and call it "H&R Block"?

I guess you must feel extra foolish for spamming every thread with your own brand of fake news, but quit trying to make it worse...

DL might end up being right. I apologize. Still won't surprise me if Bally Sports North is renamed to something else. None of those properties are even close to Minneapolis. They were clearly using the name to associate with the famous Las Vegas Bally's. I don't see the tie-in with those small casinos in random locations being beneficial to the TV network.
