Kinda wondering if Adoto-Mensah is thinking someone like him, no first hand exp, not so much as they deserve a shot as much as he'd be able to shape the position with his vision more so than someone that's looking to rebound doing it his way.

Who knows ... prob a reach but there might be something to it

Define "no first hand exp"?

- hmfic

- that was just a thought at the moment ... I don't think that right now, especially after watching the press conf and getting my first look at our guy

If Brady retires and Rodgers goes to AFC cousins is easily a top 3 QB in NFC.

I would only put Wilson clearly above him.

I don't know that I'm crazy about him being our coach but Id probably be the best thing ever for Cousins

Ricky J -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 4:42:30 PM)

Ben Goessling @BenGoessling · 1h #Vikings have completed their head coaching interview with Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.

This would go over real well around here ....

This is kinda crazy...not sure what to think...but I don't doubt he could win us some games

But I was really getting down with the idea of Ryans...a leader, communicator, etc that KAM was speaking of...plus, he is new face on the scene and somehow that seems important

Harbaugh is not that new face

SAMiller711r -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 7:32:05 PM)

No thank you. He's another authoritative my way or the highway kind of coach. Can't imagine him being a particularly collaborative consensus sharing man. I dunno. Harbaugh strikes me as Zimmer2.0

Phil Riewer -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 7:58:31 PM)

Harbaugh made it to the Super Bowl. He is a better coach than Zimmer. Pederson and Harbaugh have cried. Think of Pete Carroll in his 50s

SAMiller711r -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 8:09:56 PM)

By that measure, Dan Quinn made it to the superbowl too and is thus a better coach than Zimmer (which is probably true) but I'm hoping we don't get him either.

I'm thinking the same thing. I like Ryans.

Maybe just doing our due diligence. But, if Harbaugh blows them away, who knows?

Pederson and Harbaugh are innovative and have cred. I have nothing against Quinn but he is a def coach. If you remember Harbaugh with 49ers you would know he brought them to dominance the years he was there. He wasn’t afraid to play Kapernick over Smith. He knows and can do what is best for the team.

Pederson is my favorite but Harbaugh is a bigger splash

59-36
7-4 in playoffs

Also look at the assistants he can get versus a young coach or Pederson. He develops coaches and players. What young coach under Zimmer other than Stepanski who was with the Vikes before Zimmer moved up?

Harbaugh went from 13-3 to 8-8 in four years in SF.

It took forever for him to put Michigan back on the map again.

I say Ryans.

SF was a big mess that he cleaned up. Think Pete Carroll. MN has the offense talent already. Almost won a Super Bowl with Kapernick

Phil Riewer -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 8:40:16 PM)

It isn’t always about the HC. Who can also put the best coaching staff together.

Yes. He cleaned up Singletary's mess that first season but his record got worse every year he coached there.

13-3 lost in NFC champ game
11-4 super bowl loss
12-4 division playoff loss
8-8 last season

Bigger gamble with Ryans

Roman and Fangio were his coordinators.

Super Bowl caliber coach. Just like Pederson.. just think if Fangio came with Harbaugh.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/29/2022 9:50:04 PM)

Phil Mackeys list

My updated Vikings head coach wishlist:

1.) Jim Harbaugh
2.) Raheem Morris
3.) Doug Pederson
4.) DeMeco Ryans

He is also ok with Rams OC

SAMiller - I'd argue it's possible Harbaugh learned from his time in SF.

I'd also argue that he realizes he's 58, and if he's going to coach in the NFL again... time is ticking.

And if his desire is to coach in NFL again.... the openings won't be endless considering his age..... and out of those WHO DO consider him..... how many will have a GM in place he has worked with previously? Whom he's familiar with? A GM without an ego who knows Jim and who can work with Jim (not clash constantly with Jim)?

Realistically..... I highly doubt that he'll find a better situation than this one.

Again, if his desire is to be a NFL HC again.

If Jim Harbaugh becomes the coach, I may have to consider rooting for a different team moving forward. Can't stand the guy. A hiring of Harbaugh would be a sign that our new GM doesn't know how to check the temperature in the room. Harbaugh is a Michigan guy. Nobody hates a Michigan guy any more than a Gopher fan base.

In addition, Harbaugh is one of the guys that almost never lasts more than five years anywhere he goes. Partly because everyone within any organization hates him within 12 months. He rubs people the wrong way the same way Lane Kiffin rubs people the wrong way.

Harbaugh is a non-starter for me. I'd hire Kiffin before Harbaugh.

That would be a hard five years of reading on here then if they hire Harbaugh. I'd like to see five years of reading your posts on a coach you liked.

I agree with this. Although IMO Zimmer is a cheap copy of Harbaugh, not the other way around – so the the coaching would be much better ... there's that. But the 'culture of collaboration' speak we have been getting would just come off as more corporate blather for the masses.

I'm down for any the 5. The only one that sparks an 'I want' though is Harbaugh.

Todd M -> RE: Our New Head Coach (1/30/2022 10:32:04 AM)

Everyone hates Harbaugh after 12 months.

Everything I read is he's a players coach and they go to battle for him.

Maybe some stops seen some tight ass uppers 'hate' but I'm not buying the narrative he wears out his welcome or loses the locker room.
