Way to step up Ricky! You broke a 42 hr post drought

ha ha, funny

Why did that make me feel good? I'm sure if I go back 41 hours I'd be getting roasted pretty good

They need to speed Kirk's clock up at halftime, give him some Adderall.

He sucks every 3rd quarter, is thinking too much, and his throws don't hit the runners in stride.

He should be able to do a few roll outs, without quickly getting sacked.

Review the roll outs today and get back to me. They knew they were coming. Selah is no dummy.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 4:55:18 PM)

The key to us winning was the way we ran the ball in the first half. Then we quit doing it the next half.

Solid DBs. More run and TE action.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 5:04:45 PM)

Unfortunately we're making Hockinson a 5 ypc guy. It would be nice to get him going next week.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 7:07:04 PM)

Hock needs to get a little deeper on third downs, can't expect him to get a whole bunch of YAC when he is sort of the expected targeted after JJ (on 3rd downs).

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 7:18:27 PM)

Jimmy G. Out rest of year. That takes care of one boogie man.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 8:25:46 PM)

Another nail biter

Cousins was terribly inaccurate today. Never seen him miss that badly.

Not sure how we keep winning games but I'm all for it.

Chris Olson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 8:40:24 PM)

we keep saying, they are winning, despite not playing their best ball...

yet we never seem to be playing our best ball

we must be waiting for the playoffs to turn it on

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2022 8:41:19 PM)

It did have the feel of a team win, and could have been a convincing win if White didn't get in on the 4th run that at first wasn't called a TD.

Nice to get a win and get the stinker out of the way all at once.

Playoffs with five weeks to go

Philly

Washington or Seattle at MN
Giants at SF
Dallas at TB

Sets up Dallas at Philly and SF (without Jimmy) at MN.

I see Dallas coming back to MN for the NFCCG.

That would be about the best scenario we could hope for

It's weird right? What does this team look like playing their best ball? Invincible juggernaut?

I think what we've done and how we've done it will do more for us than x# of games where we looked shinier/were more proficient.

I like the team we are. They keep surprising me. Our whole is definitely greater than the sum of their parts.

It seems to feel like that every week.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 8:19:14 AM)

I don't know.

-Our offense goes to sleep for at least one or two qtrs a game rather than keeping their foot on the opponents neck.

-Our defense does not create much nor consistent pressure on the qb and Donnashell isn't good at dialing up blitzes.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 8:35:06 AM)

This freakin team. It makes me feel like I’m in a codependent emotionally abusive relationship.

It would be easy to point to White’s vast inexperience as the bottomline but I thought he played well. Half the time we play a young or backup QB I feel our defense falters but this guy made some key plays. I was more impressed with the Jets than some of the other teams we’ve been beating. White’s last INT was not a good pass but I didnt see what else was available as a last gasp.

Cousins was in a funk … I thought he was slow to get started, then he got walloped a couple of times and his accuracy paid the price. As poor as he played I give him a lot of credit for getting pinballed and standing in there play after bloody play.

I’m done waiting for a ‘complete game’ from this team at this point. It seems like our streakiness is drive to drive, quarter to quarter. Which has made for a great reg season … but I fear will be exploited in the playoffs and not just by a Dal or Phi.

Too much football left before the playoffs to make predictions.

Credit Bynum for reading the dig route and jumping the route. It's hard to explain how Cousin's can over throw Hock by 5 yds and then put a dime on Jefferson for the TD. That throw was 10 times as hard as the overthrow to Hock.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 9:24:01 AM)

This team IS playing its best ball.

- The offense can put up points. But 12 games in they still suffer from huge 3 and outs, sometimes just needing a first down to ice the game. Yesterday, just seven 2nd half points.

- The defense can stop offenses. But like the offense, they routinely turn to crap only to make a key play or two to hold on for a win.

Neither the O or D can singularly dominate a whole game. To expect or merely hope they BOTH do is fandom run amok.

And forget tying in special teams for 'all three facets of the game'. Mere extra points are nerve-wracking.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 9:32:35 AM)

We needed to play our 'best ball' against Dallas.

I think we played a bit below our normal game but didn't have a half dozen turnovers, Cousins wasn't knocked out of the game, etc.

Instead, people say we laid a stinker. No, we were dominated by a superior team.

And in my book, so what. We are what we are.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 9:57:06 AM)

As I'm reading through the posts waiting to talk before my guests are finished I can't help but thinking, "We are playing our best ball!"

What a mess it would be if we weren't.

But to be able to keep wining in spite of the odds we've faced has to mean something. Enough to get us to the NFCCG v. Dallas at home, I hope.

It's nice to sit here with my coffee and PBJ on toast and have hope this morning. Beats the heck out of the alternative

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 10:24:14 AM)

I'm no fan of Cousins but yesterday's performance falls outside of the spectrum of expectations for him. He's either got an undisclosed injury or he's even worse than my poorest evaluation of his ability to be a great QB. I believe it's an undisclosed injury. He's better than what happened yesterday.

GopherFan34 -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/5/2022 10:30:00 AM)

If you watch the 49ers and Cowboys play defense, you realize how important a great front seven means. Both of those teams still blitz even though they both have good front four players. Which is why I don't understand why we don't. We give up huge chunk plays without blitzing.
