#Vikings Week 16 OL PFF grades (overall/run blocking/pass blocking/pressures allowed):
Darrisaw 83.0/79.6/83.0/1
Cleveland 79.0/82.7/59.3/4
Schlottmann 57.6/69.9/26.3/6
Ingram 81.8/89.9/53.7/3
O'Neill 66.8/47.4/83.0/1

Our oline continues to be leaky up the middle in pass pro

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/27/2022 8:49:41 AM)

Christian Watson is dealing with a hip issue.

This might be one of the biggest factors for the upcoming game.

I bet it is sarcasm. Even the ones that supposedly hated him in the media have changed their tune.

8 Game Winning 4 quarter drives does that.

Kirk is throwing to the OPOY-favorite & a pro bowl TE behind two top-5-graded OTs with a good offensive head coach and is 19th in EPA/play, 14th in PFF grade & 13th in passer rating.

He's definitely been clutch, but a better QB would've put a lot of those close games away early.

I think Nick ignores 2 obivous things.....1) that the Giants have a good defense. 2) our defense played great but gave up the lead once again.

11-0 in one score games is our coach but Kirk has been clutch too.

Thanks - yeah, that's the tweet I was referring to ... blocked him on that one.

Schlottmann (kinda rhythms with Seinfeld's "Newman!"). At this point in time, it is way to much of an ask to have good depth, especially on the IOL and some other places. So he is what he is.

And his week 16 run blocking 'rating' is far better than O'Neill's so he's got that going for him. Which is nice.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/27/2022 10:45:55 AM)

Cleveland seems to be a guy who has plateaued. Decent floor, low ceiling type.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/27/2022 10:49:59 AM)

Kirk is playing decent enough. I was at the last game. His accuracy is still a problem. His pocket presence is non-existent. His awareness of the game situation is nil. We're still winning though because, as I said, he's decent enough. Watching him take that sack late in the game after having five seconds to throw nearly killed me. He didn't even roll out to his left and see what might open up. He just stood there looking downfield, oblivious to the pass rush that would inevitably get there regardless of how long the Oline had held to that point, the clock, the score, or the down and distance.

One of these days our 61-yard FG won't get made, Josh Allen won't fumble in the endzone, Bynum won't get an INT in the endzone, or the opposing kicker won't doink one off the crossbar.

In the meantime though - F it let's keep winning. I still think we're winning it all this year.

Nick Olsen is a 'Kirk Hater' because he doesn't ignore how poorly KC plays at times (while acknowledging that he has 'definitely been clutch')?

I don't remember other tweets from Olson, don't know who he is ... in that quote he may be guilty of downplaying the clutch performances this season compared to other factors ... but hater?

C'mon.

Its amazing how the pro-KC crowd want to give KC every shred of credit for the comebacks this year while spreading the blame for his .500 performances the 10 years prior. (yes I'm embellishing)

Its true, there are anti-KCers who have put all the blame for losses on Kirk ...

He has come through this season big time. He has also been very average at times. Or worse. I think its a fair point that, this season, he has found ways to dig himself out of the holes that he keeps putting this team in with poor decisions and poor throws. There are a lot other non-QB factors in that hole digging, of course.

QBs get too much blame / credit.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/27/2022 11:39:51 AM)

I went to the game and saw the beating Kirk took....TD to TJ he took one in the knees.

Amazing that you would think he should still be that accurate after shaking off cobwebs....

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/27/2022 11:42:58 AM)

Couple tidbits from the Sunday Game:

KOC was giving the rookie LB some of Kendricks and Hicks PT, Metullus some of Smith's PT, and rotating the DLine a ton.

#Vikings snaps vs Giants
•Season-high 39% for rookie LB Brian Asamoah
•CB Duke Shelley has played significant role in five straight games
•S Josh Metellus got a series for Smith and one rep at slot DB
•Back to three receivers only

Daniel Jones took the exact same beating that Kirk took and managed to complete a higher percentage of his passes for more yards on fewer attempts. The main difference is that our guys caught his INTs whereas the Giants were kind enough to drop Kirk's.

Kirk could eliminate about half the QB hits he takes if he would develop even a tiny bit of pocket presence.

Funny, in the past someone would use excuses to explain why we should of won if this didn't happen or someone would of done that differently and get totally ripped by others. You want to talk about all the things that went right but will eventually go wrong going forward proving our guy really just sucks

Offer a small compliment like "playing decent enough" then spend the rest of the paragraph saying how he sucks trying to come off as an objective observer.

Lawd!

This is Kirks 2017 horseshoe year...

Cousins is still who he is and its obvious... Same can be said for Case in 2017 and his above median year of play...

Hater or not, MOST all here called for Case to be passed over in favor of something more certain...

NOW HERE WE ARE WITH KIRK...

same exact spot...

On the winning drive and the TD to TJ...pocket presence was staying in the pocket, taking the hit, and throwing it just before contact.

Getting rid of the ball just before getting pummeled is also pocked aware which he has done many times.

The completion to JJ on 3rd down on the game winning drive he released early as there were Giants in every direction.

Weird that he tied the NFL Record for most Game Winning drives with Stafford and still the shade.

All those crappy qbs out there who can’t have six, seven, nine or ten comebacks because they put the game away early when they have the chance. Losers!

So the defense has nothing to do with that? [:-]

It is only the QB that should be putting other teams away?

The only team the defense has come close to shutting down all year was GB.

They held the giants to 16 through 59 minutes. Put the game away.

Worse, a "better QB" wouldn't of had to make those game winning drives - I'm a little disappointed in Brad for not coming up with this first. There wouldn't of been any game winning drives with a better QB they all would of been 2+ score wins and the #1 seed would be wrapped up. The 2 seed ain't good enough for this team and its fan base, especially with the defense we've been throwing out there all year.

Lord have mercy, now I'm going to sit back and get trashed by the realists.
