Basically we need a DC who wants to embrace the suck. One with a Black Mamba mentality. There was a snippet about that Wisconsin DC going to Alabama. To a place that perennially is at or near the top WRT talent. If true, that is not the guy who will want to come to Minnesota nor is it someone I'd necessarily want at this point in time.

Two years? I'd say three for sure. Assuming a 4-3: DL: Journeymen plus the quagmire that is Danielle Hunter. LB: Asamoah and Dye are going to be the only LBs on the roster in 5 weeks! Maybe get something for Za Smith in a trade. CB: A mixed bag of mediocrity and hope. Definitely more Gilligan's Island than Revis Island. S: Absolutely no proven talent. No 2nd rounder (for now) this year. The offense will again assure there won't be a high draft pick next year. Yep, three years at least.

Need a genius at DC that can build something with young unproven guys. Get lots of speed and hope that can cover up mistakes. Slow smart vets don’t work.

But … Zimmer bankrupted whatever expertise he had and Donatell never found a fit for these players, young or old. We really have no idea what we have short-medium-long term. I’m not expecting it but it would not surprise me to see someone fresh, say born in the the last 200 years, come in here and get more out of the leftovers than before. Maybe much more. I agree the talent level is very low with negative resources in January for augmentation … but its January. Cut some fat contracts, squeeze some more / anything out of last year’s draft picks, add a pick or two in April, a boodle of journeymen FAs and UDFAs … maybe even a 2nd tier FA or two … nfl units can metamorphise pretty quickly, at least I think without proof to back that up. You can say three years as a logical premise but its premature as projections go. It will at the bery least be interesting to see what a different mind, presumably hopefully sharper, does with some of the same pieces.

I dont expect any genius hires. I dont care about 3-4 or 4-3 as as a base. I care about pressure, aggressiveness and malicious intent. Give me Trevor Guyton running at OL like he wants to spoon their eyes out over high priced no show Pierce. I want WRs having to run around and in between defenders … not through open fields like alpine Julie Andrews .. you know when you were a kid playing street football and you had to squeeze between cars to get open … contested routes not just contested catches. I want it to at least look like we have 11 players on the field.

Daniel Jones is exactly who we thought he was. Tougher road when the DBs are within 5 yards. God the Vikings defense is garbage.
