I watched training camp in Mankato several times as a kid. I still have autographs of Bud in a scrapbook somewhere. He was always very generous with his time for fans after practice. Good times.

RIP Bud. One of my childhood hero's for sure. I remember crying when he retired. One of my absolute favorite childhood memories included him. My uncle took my brother and I along with his son to the Elks father son banquet because my dad was working 2nd shift. I ended up winning 2 tickets to the Vikings home opener, 1st regular season game ever at the HHH Metrodome. I wanted to bring my Dad and my Uncle, so somehow we converted the 2 tickets into 3. We were waiting in line at the Will Call Window and I saw Bud walking up to the stadium. I had a program in my hands and ran a little ways out toward him and asked for his autograph. He took it and signed without breaking stride. I had to trot along with my 11 yr old legs just to keep up with his steady gait. I wish I had had a way to protect that program but it got a little beat up during the game. I think I might have it somewhere but it is not in good condition. We won the game!

" IF " Fields not being the real deal they can easily parlay all those picks to move up in the draft to get another possible franchise QB. A QB has to be a good passer to have any type of sustainable success. I think it's quite possible Lamar's best years are already behind him. No way in heck would I commit $250 million dollars and two first round draft picks for him. I think a fair contract for Lamar is 3 years, at around $130-$135 million fully guaranteed.
