The Bears just became a longtime NFC North favorite.

Ryan Poles playing the long game.

The long, long game.

I have a feeling Chicago will mess up their picks, and be mediocre to poor the next 3 years.

RIP Bud

Thank you for all the wonderful memories!

A lot of us lost a big part of our childhood yesterday.

They might. They often do just that. They also have more cap space than any other team. They can sign any free agent they want and they already have two first round picks for 2024. They at least have a shot.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/12/2023 10:05:01 AM)

Just looked it up:
Bears:
2012: 10-6
2018: 12-4
Only winning seasons since 2012
Three 8-8s

I watched training camp in Mankato several times as a kid. I still have autographs of Bud in a scrapbook somewhere. He was always very generous with his time for fans after practice.

Good times.

Thanks for putting more thought into your post than Marty’s ‘I feel like like having enchiladas today.’

They have the picks and they firmly believe they have the young QB to build on. So anything blind squirrel or above makes them better down the road.

We’ll see. Didnt follow them closely enough to see whether they got more out of their first two picks last year (cb gordon s brisker) than our version. Obviously too early to call, just curious.

As long as they keep bleeding Shelleys and Tongas … that will help offset our draft hemorrhaging to the Lions.

He MIGHT want enchiladas while he COULD end up with tacos although he SHOULD go with burritos.

They're popular in Southern AZ. Will probably make their way up to Canada at some point like a virus.

Sorry. Back to our regular programming.

Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins for a 3rd and a third string TE. Not that we have the cap situation to absorb that right now.

Waiting to see what the market does? Handshake deals for players in return for 7th rounders, with the understanding each team is seeking better trades?

They release some players while lying about "giving them a head start on the market" as if they are so considerate, yet don't do it for everyone. Guess it's standard NFL tripe.

If KAM handcuffs us with the picks and $ to pull that trade off I'd be done with him.

Just the picks for a QB on a rookie contract...I'd celebrate that.

RIP Bud.

One of my childhood hero's for sure. I remember crying when he retired.

One of my absolute favorite childhood memories included him. My uncle took my brother and I along with his son to the Elks father son banquet because my dad was working 2nd shift. I ended up winning 2 tickets to the Vikings home opener, 1st regular season game ever at the HHH Metrodome. I wanted to bring my Dad and my Uncle, so somehow we converted the 2 tickets into 3. We were waiting in line at the Will Call Window and I saw Bud walking up to the stadium. I had a program in my hands and ran a little ways out toward him and asked for his autograph. He took it and signed without breaking stride. I had to trot along with my 11 yr old legs just to keep up with his steady gait. I wish I had had a way to protect that program but it got a little beat up during the game. I think I might have it somewhere but it is not in good condition. We won the game!

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (3/13/2023 9:39:24 AM)

" IF " Fields is the real deal (not convinced and I don't think Bears are either) they are in great shape " IF " they nail the draft.

" IF " Fields not being the real deal they can easily parlay all those picks to move up in the draft to get another possible franchise QB.

A QB has to be a good passer to have any type of sustainable success. I think it's quite possible Lamar's best years are already behind him. No way in heck would I commit $250 million dollars and two first round draft picks for him.

I think a fair contract for Lamar is 3 years, at around $130-$135 million fully guaranteed.

Will they draft the right players? Who knows? It's a crap shoot. Is Fields the real deal? Same but at least you can see what they are building and have a shot if they evaluate and draft well to win a Super Bowl not just be competitive. They realized they were more than a year away.

I think they should have taken the Alabama QB but Fields played well in big college games.
