The Minnesota Vikings have broken the free agency seal by reportedly agreeing to terms with tight end Josh Oliver. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Oliver and the Vikings have agreed to a three-year deal worth $21 million, including $10.75 million guaranteed.

From atozsports: The Minnesota Vikings just made a sneaky, yet very solid move on the first day of free agency: the team is going to sign former Baltimore Ravens tight end Josh Oliver to a new deal. Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Vikings are giving Oliver a three-year deal worth $21 million. $10.75 million of that is guaranteed and there are included incentives that can bump the deal up to $24 million. As Garafolo notes in his tweet, Oliver is one of the NFL's best blocking tight ends. He's the ultimate compliment to Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson, who is one of the NFL's best receiving tight ends. Now, the Vikings have an incredible 1-2 punch at a position that can really hurt NFL defenses when utilized correctly. Hockenson is actually on OK run blocker, as well. So, it's not like the Vikings will be giving too much away if/when just one or both players are on the field.

I do agree that we will be a shambles for years to come if we extend Cousins or try and sign any pricey vet QB for two or more years ... a drafted QBs contract is easily the best, most straightforward way to go ... to keep the cap in balance moving forward. if you can draft one that's worthy. No small feat.

Yes! I did mention Kwesi building the roster from the low priority positions out. Not just a TE but a freakin' pure blocking TE. Before getting under the cap. The man's a wizard.

Ironically, he was one of the initial acquisitions last year.

KOC said we need a blocking TE. Hock, Mundt, Irv Suck Jr... we didn't have one last year. Kwesi got one. Good odds it's really two-year deal... with just $11 million guaranteed. I like the move, let's press on!

For me, it assures me that the Vikings are not only focusing on the defense, but also addressing needs on the offense. Irv is probably gone, (not sure Ive seen much on him this off season), but Oliver gives the Vikings an excellent option to TJ, while also adding punch to the run game. I want the Vikings to move to a balanced offense, keeping then defense off-balance,this is one move to help with that. KAM seems to have a plan, it will be interesting seeing it unfold! This will be a busy week for sure!

With 23 receptions the past two years... probably not. If anything, Lamar likes his blocking.
