Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (4/20/2023 10:03:07 AM)

Without looking at the trading price … after Young and Stroud I would put Lance first (who was the designated starter this past season over Garappolo before his injury), and then Herndon. Well before Levis and Richardson who are real long shots pushed up by desperation at the position. IMO Lance is probably more a victim of circumstance than someone not meeting expectations. He definitely needs another season or two of seasoning but they all do if they’re not named Brock Purdy. Drafted raw to sit behind a a starter (like we are hoping to do), they saw enough in Lance to pick him as the starter … I just dont buy they’ve given up on him. I’m sure nobody is more shocked by Purdy’s success than SF. While having 2 potential young long term starters on the roster is a great situation, I assume they would be open to trying to recoup some of the heavy capital they paid to draft Lance. Because they are pro-active, not because they made a bad choice. (its too early to tell) I wouldnt mind staying put and drafting Levis or Richardson (or Hooker) … because you never know … but trading assets to move up over trading for Lance who STILL looks like a much better prospect on paper just doesnt make sense to me. All things being relative. (I assume Lance would be much more expensive so its just idle talk)
