Kepler at leadoff is just stupid.

But I still don't think we'll really miss Arraez.

Rocco can't accept that Kepler's 2019 was a fluke born of the near seamless baseball used that year.

The Twins lay a beat down on Johnny Cueto and the Marlins 11-1. Larnach led the way with three hits including a triple and a hr. Gallo hit his third with Kepler and Jeffers joining in.

Mahle gave up 1 run in 5 IP with 7 K. Alcala continues to look good with 2 more shutout innings and 3K.

*mic drop*

Too bad ol' KG isn't around to spout off about us going 162-0.

Personally, I think we lose at least 1. [;)]

And he would not be off to this start if Arraez was on the team. Gallo would be in the OF.

Gallo looks damn good at 1B too.

For sure but Gallo batting 7th is gold. (He may be the best OBP guy we have).

Gordon probably makes the most sense until Polanco is healthy.

Analytics casualty.

When I started watching baseball in the early 80s he would have lasted a lot longer with that power. but since the advent of analytics....No one wants a guy that doesn't walk much, strikes out a lot, is at best mediocre defensively, but can occasionally hit one a mile.

It's not sad. It's modern baseball.

Matt's making shit up again.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (4/4/2023 2:15:43 PM)

On the last day of the season, Arraez, who was playing through a hamstring injury, sealed his batting title, finishing the season hitting .316 and denying Yankees star Aaron Judge of the Triple Crown.

The second baseman, who hit a pair of home runs against the United States in the World Baseball Classic, has picked up right where he left off, adding his 10th and 11th hits to his league-leading total during the Twins’ 11-1 win on Monday.

“He means a lot to us,” said shortstop Carlos Correa, who also said he still talks to Arraez nearly every day. “With the game on the line, he was the one we wanted at the plate. Obviously we miss him but at the same time, we understand how business works and we got a good pitcher in Pablo.”

I agree with Correa.
"With the game on the line, he was the one we wanted at the plate"
Hope he has another great year.

I don't think he has received much of a sniff yet....surprised KC or Pitt haven't signed him for the min to DH. Detroit still has Miggy.

I'm surprised nobody has signed him to a minor league deal.

No Buxton or Kepler tonight.

Buxton off day available for PH
Kepler to get MRI on his knee

Buxton will be in the lineup vs LHP tomorrow and "ready for the home opener"

Which has now been pushed back a day. [&o]

Gordon leading off

I do not miss the 1 trick pony. Sorry Arraez fans. Larnach is hacking and it's a beautiful thing.

Perhaps it was his decision to get a big league deal or nothing

I really hope Larnach can finally avoid the soft tissue injuries, so we can see what he can do over a full season. He's off to an encouraging start.

Tough sledding vs Cy Young Alcantara

Zero confidence in Maeda

So is the Slurve now the Sweeper pitch? Never seen a pitch called that before this year.

David Levine -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (4/4/2023 7:04:26 PM)

Great....Pagan in in a 1 run game...

David Levine -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (4/4/2023 7:09:55 PM)

And Pagan induces the DP to end the inning!

Too fast for me

Clock is ok, maybe a touch longer.

Hurry up and be done in 2 1/2 hours is not going to draw more people to games.
