Rocco's head would explode at the very idea.

TK used the last week of the season to start the process with Viola and Blyleven making their last starts on 3 days rest, so they would be in routine when the playoffs started. Rocco would have a brain aneurysm trying to figure that out.

4 starts, 20 innings, 17 Ks, 8 BBs, 4 Runs (2 earned), 2 HRs.

I guess its worth keeping an eye on.

He pitched well in AAA last year too, but got shelled with both big league clubs he pitched for.

And in TK’s day, the top two or three were head and shoulders better than the rest so he had no choice anyway. Look at the ‘87 roster. #3 starter was Les Straker, and after that it was pretty much get someone off the street.

Now you’ve got 5 who are ok’ish to pretty good at times. So no need to pick out 3 of them.


Didn't they bring in the ghost of Niekro and Carlton that year also to no avail?

He could be a great mid inning guy; similar to Colin McHugh...come in and eat 2-3 innings. I don't think you want him pitching more than once thru the order.

Then he's a waste at this point, since Rocco would use him once every 4-5 days
Like he does with Sands and Balazovic.

Stewart thought he was coming back after the break; apparently the outlook isn't quite that bright.

Good for him, cuz when he gets back Rocco will work him into the ground again.

Buxton ofer in the 5 hole glaring, but the rest of the team was clueless against Kirby; they get another chance to flail at Target next week.

Correa didn't play for first time since late June. Kepler PH late

Two of the guys of late doing something. And Rocco rested them both to see zip.

Wallner isn't driving the ball. His ship sailed in AAA; was cooling down there, so the Twins wasted a hot streak. Good job.
